Homburg I just bought on an Auction.

I just bought this Homburg on eBay for a little over $200 after tax and shipping. These are the photos that were provided to me by the seller. It is a 1940s era beaver felt Royal Stetson Homburg with the original Trolley cord still attached and the lining intact.

Sears Mens Clothing Fathers Day 1967

Sorting through a bin of old papers and came across this Sears ad, I just wanted to share it with people who might enjoy the Men's summer of 67 fashion!

Fur & Fashion – Controversial or classy?

Whilst nowadays haute couture houses & high fashion designers often still use fur and the likes, for the average fashion enjoyer it is likely anything but agreeable. Yet looking at these beautiful photographs (all taken by Edward Steichen), it is no wonder that furs still manage to impress.

And truly, I myself am struggling trying to pick a favourite out of all these photographs!

Photographs in order:

  1. Vogue, August 15th, 1939, Two models wearing hats reading a letter

  2. Vogue, December 1st, 1927, Model Jule Andre wearing a fur wrap with Udall and Ballou jewellery

  3. Vogue, October 15th, 1926, Marion Morehouse in a velvet dress with fox fur collar by Agnes

  4. Vanity Fair,August 1st, 1927, Portrait of American actress Dolores Costello

  5. Vogue, April 15th, 1932, Mrs. Francis A. Wyman wearing a ermine jacket with a model wearing a satin dress

  6. Vogue, November 1st, 1927, Model Marion Morehouse wearing a dress, scarf and wrap by Paquin

  7. Vogue, July 15th, 1935, Actress Loretta Young wearing a dress with ruffles and a satin hat

  8. Vogue, November 1st, 1934, Mrs. William Wetmore wearing a fox stole with a Gunther dress

  9. Vogue, December 21st, 1929, A model wearing an ermine coat with sable trim

Tagged with 1930s due to the majority of these photographs being taken in that decade ;)

OOTD for the motor vehicle inspection

Brought my car to the annual MOT-test/motor vehicle inspection and afterwards I dropped into the small car museum located just across the street.

Trying Out a Modern Take on a Classic 1930s Hairstyle

I’ve always been fascinated by hairstyles from Hollywood’s Golden Age, specifically the 1930s, especially those soft "finger waves" and the delicate "kiss curls" framing the cheeks. I wanted to see if I could recreate that vintage glamour with a short pixie cut wig while adding a modern twist. Of course, this isn't a 100% faithful recreation of the era's look; my goal was to draw inspiration from that time rather than copy it exactly. Do you think this style still captures that 1930s Hollywood vibe? Or does it lean more towards the style of a different vintage era? If you have any suggestions on how to make it look more authentic or true to the period, please let me know!

Completely vintage outfit for garden formal event

I recently attended an event with a garden formal dress code. I sourced everything from vintage sellers online.

The dress is Y2K Mandalay Designs from Canonball & Tilly (Los Angeles based vintage store that specializes in Mandalay Designs deadstock). The shoes are Y2K Manolo Blahniks from Soroité Vintage. And the bag is from the 1950s found on Poshmark.

Beautiful thrift knit find

Who knew getting such a beautiful piece of knitwear in 2026 for under 10$ was still possible. This is really a one of a kind very early Komodo knit, even the buttons have a really intricate design to them. So happy this fits me, tagged as an XXXL but really like a medium.

Advice on cleaning a £20 dress (I cannot afford a professional)

I paid so little for the dress and I cannot afford to get it professionally cleaned but I would like to do my best to keep it in one piece. I was told it was 1950s but I do not suspect it was made from any expensive materials. Its fairly even coloured and I think it was ivory or cream to start with. There are no metal fastenings just the illusion buttons at the back, if anyone has any tips for cleaning these I would really appreciate it. I would also appreciate any advice on the style of petticoat that I should be wearing with this type of skirt. Thanks.

Straight from the 70s OOTD. Anything missing?

Both the shirt and pants are actually from the 70s, so I wanted to keep the styling pretty simple and let the pieces speak for themselves. I wore them with white sneakers to make it a little more wearable for work. What accessories or shoes would you add to lean even more into the decade?

Goodwill bins find today! 🧑‍❤️‍💋‍🧑

Gunne Sax by Jessica! Needs some tailoring and TLC but it’s gorgeous, I’m so excited. I haven’t seen another of this style with the mesh inlay on the chest and high neck lace collar!

Mod fashion every year from 1962-1971

It’s amazing seeing how this style evolved from a rebellious counterculture full of defiance to a casual fun trend that both teens and young adults can enjoy! You can even witness how the psychedelic revolution gave way for an even more diverse catalog!

Looking for advice about this hat

I was really at a loss as to which subreddit to post this on, so please let me know if there's a better place! I thought about the millinery subreddit, but that seems to mostly be for constructing hats (plus, I'm a little intimidated by how nice quality the hats there are lol).

I got this hat at a vintage estate sale a while back. I suspect it's a theater costume hat due to it's construction, and thus it may not really be vintage (hence my hesitation about where to post...then again, it could be both vintage and a costume piece). Regardless, I love it and want to fix it up!

It was actually crushed when I first got it, but I managed to reshape it with some steaming (it still looks a little wonky, but better than it was before). It seems to be made of fabric stiffened with glue (so much so that running your nails on it sounds like a crispy piece of toast). All the parts are glued together rather than sewn. However, some parts of the brim and decorations are coming apart, and I'm not sure the best way to fix them. I'm personally a fan of sewing things together rather than gluing, but I'm worried I'll break a needle trying to get through this stiff fabric. Is gluing my only option? Do I need specialized hat glue? Also, is the shape ok? I was undecided if it was supposed to be domed or have a dip at the top, but I'm not sure how to make a nice looking dip that doesn't look like it was smashed. I have not the slightest idea of what shape/look/era it's going for (and if it is a theater costume piece, maybe it's just not going for accuracy at all).

Thanks for any tips you can provide!
