Vintage look for Garden Formal

Hiii. Last week I posted my accessories for a garden formal event that I attended. I had quite a few comments wanting to see the full look so I’m sharing here.

The dress is Y2K Mandalay Designs from Canonball & Tilly (Los Angeles based vintage store that specializes in Mandalay Designs deadstock). The shoes are Y2K Manolo Blahniks from Soroité Vintage. The bag is from the 1950s found on Poshmark. And the bracelet is a 1980s pink sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet.

Completely vintage outfit for garden formal event

I recently attended an event with a garden formal dress code. I sourced everything from vintage sellers online.

Garden formal shoes

I attended an event this weekend with a garden formal dress code. I wore these vintage Y2K Manolo Blahniks from sororite vintage (great at sourcing rare vintage designer shoes).

The event was outdoors but I bought some grass stoppers for the stilettos and it worked perfectly!

Garden formal accessories

I attended an event this weekend with a garden formal dress code. I’m a big vintage lover so I opted for pre-loved accessories. The satin bag is from the 1950s, and the shoes are Y2K.

I went to a garden formal wedding this weekend and here was the bag I brought for the event. Thought this group would appreciate the embroidery!

Vintage Dior camisole

I was recently in NYC and visited an amazing vintage lingerie store, A.W Kaufman. They have a great selection of slip dresses, skirts, camisoles, bras, panties, and robes. It is pricey but it’s immaculately kept and never worn.

I picked up a couple of slips and this camisole. I love it! I know lingerie as clothes isn’t very popular on Reddit but I’m a fan.

This gives me Penny Lane/Chloe vibes. Does anyone else like vintage slips or camis?

Did the Celine Big Hot Dog bag ever get released in black?

The Celine Big Hot Dog Bag first appeared in their SS26 show, but I never saw it online this year (unless I missed it?).

I finally see the Hot Dog bags online but just the small size in black and brown, and the large in burgundy.

Does anyone know if or when the large Hot Dog bag in black will be released?

Y2K Pucci on my honeymoon

One of my favorite pieces that I brought on my honeymoon. Wanted something fun and bright. I love vintage Pucci so I was excited to find this cotton skirt set!

Side note, I might get the skirt shortened 2-3 inches above the current hem. What do you think?

What is the most engaging film that you’ve watched recently?

I watched The Game a few weeks ago.

Probably my favorite David Fincher movie. I really loved Howard Shore’s score. I knew it sounded familiar and I read that he did Panic Room. They sounded almost exactly the same, but it suits The Game a lot more.

This was a great smoke and mirrors movie, but the ending felt too back and forth imo. Also, I think if the conclusion was angled more >!about ending generational trauma OR continuing it via suicide, it would’ve been a stronger theme than just “stop being a self isolating rich jerk”.!< Overall, it’s a great movie and I definitely recommend it.

An incensed, meditative, and rainy Vietnamese garden

I want to find a perfume that smells like the rain in Hoi An, Vietnam. I was on my honeymoon there in May and the smell of the rainstorms were magic.

The “feels like” temperature ranged between 102-108°. Local farmers were burning their rice paddy fields and the rain extinguished these fires. This added a beautiful dimension of incense to the atmosphere. The dirt and leaves also came to life during the storms. The bark on the banyan trees cooled with the rain. I don’t recall picking up any florals. It was a very meditative, relaxing, cleansing petrichor scent. Lots of earth, woods, green, incense notes. The perfume would probably lean warm.

Any suggestions?

Monsoon Tea by D’Annam is close but it’s too bright and cheery. I’m looking for something a bit more moody and dirty.

Four Seasons Nam Hai Review

My husband and I stayed at the FS Nam Hai resort in Hoi An, Vietnam for our honeymoon. We stayed for 8 nights in May (hot!). It was absolutely amazing and we wished we cut out days in Ho Chi Minh City, and instead extended our stay at FS.

Everything was seamlessly done. I coordinated pickup and tightened our itinerary with concierge while still in the planning stage, and their response time was very prompt.

The van picked us up at the airport and transported us to a local tailor (I was getting a new wardrobe made and it required 3 fittings, so we had to begin the process asap). The driver waited for us the whole time (3 hours), and even bought us banh mi sandwiches from the best local restaurant.

When we arrived to the resort, we had a team of people standing there to greet us. We were introduced to the manager, our butler (Ruby is amazing!), and one of the golf cart drivers. After introductions, they put us in a buggy with our butler and took us to our villa. We’ve never had a more enjoyable check in.

Our room was an ocean view one bedroom pool villa. It is 2,691 sq ft. There are two separate structures - a living room with a coffee bar, dining room table, couch, tv, and a seating arrangement in each corner. There are also two large daybeds on the patio. Then there is the bedroom villa. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves but it was huge. The bathroom took up 1/3 of the structure- two walk in closets, two sinks with ample storage space, a separate bathroom and shower, and a private outdoor shower which was fantastic.

The outdoor living area is massive as well. At the entrance there is a zen garden with a water feature. In the back (ocean side), you have a large lawn and infinity pool. There are six seating arrangements to choose from - four daybeds, two lounge chairs, and a small outdoor table which is perfect if you have some work to do or you are having a meal.

I’ve never experienced such fantastic service. At every turn, we were surprised and delighted by small tokens or interactions with the staff. Some examples:

We were speaking with one of our favorite waitresses at dinner, and I mentioned how I have yet to try coconut coffee. The next morning at breakfast, a coconut coffee was delivered to our table before we ordered other drinks.

Another time, we were eating at another resort restaurant and our waitress overheard how much I loved the coconut cookies that were served. Before we left the restaurant, she handed me a gift bag with a package of the cookies.

Each time we arrived to a restaurant they greeted us by name before we even spoke. This surprised me because a lot of the times this was with someone who we had no prior interaction with. I’ve never experienced that before except when using Global Entry at customs.

On our first night, we mentioned that we don’t drink and I didn’t like cilantro. Anytime after that, alcohol was never discussed. They suggested mocktails at dinner, and they communicated if a dish had cilantro (and would follow up that it could be removed).

We did a romantic in room dining experience one night. It started pouring so they moved our table indoors, but they put so much effort into ensuring that it was just as special.

I cannot express how nice it was to have the private pool. Our days were basically spent going to the buffet breakfast, then back to the villa where we would just lounge, swim, and order room service until dinner. Ruby would bring us salted coffee and treats at 11am, would place our lunch order at 1, and had fruit and refreshments in our room after dinner.

This was the first time my husband and I stayed at a Four Seasons, and we’ve now been converted. Neither of us were ever in want for something. Our room was always stocked with enough coffee, water, snacks, fresh toiletries, etc. All of the employees were friendly, professional, competent, and attentive. I believe this is the most relaxed either of us have ever been, and for that, the price was more than worth it.

My husband is already looking at other locations to try. We’re both interested in their Costa Rica resort. Although I’m not big on splurging on hotels in cities, I’d like to try Florence. Which ones are your favorite?

Nails for some upcoming concerts

I’m going to 4 concerts this month and wanted some fun nails. I’m seeing The Cure, Wet Leg, and Amyl & the Sniffers, so I thought this design fit the overall aesthetic.

This is only the second time I’ve done nail art, but I really have loved the results both times! I would get them done all the time if I could but I love painting my nails on my own, and I don’t like damaging my natural nail. I might do some research on how to do this with more frequency.
