I saw a post here of someone ordering jiji press ons and the design was living rent-free in my head since then (this post)

As an anime and cat lover it's just the perfect design!

I'm a terrible photographer but my nail tech put these together for me for my upcoming birthday. I love space and she totally embraced the challenge! Mix of nail stickers and her painting.

I was brushing my teeth, and I noticed that my nails match my toothpaste. 💅🏼🩵

It always takes me 4 hours to do what I could do on a client in 2!! I didn't even do my right hand, it just has the purple base with cateye cuz I'm not doing intricate layered fine art/filligree with my non dominant hand haha. So let's say 5 if I did full design on both hands.

I've been debating trading or having someone else do them but they're too good and I hand out a card to every single checkout worker wherever I go. So I will spend my entire productive time every other Sunday hunched over my desk like a goblin.

So I'm a beginner nail tech. This is the third set I've done. I think I don't struggle with the nail art itself but I do struggle with the actual application of the GelX tips (on my right hand) and the hard gel overlay application (on my left because the length there is natural). I also struggle with the shaping. Any tips on how to improve?

I was charged $323 with tax and tip in NY for this design (French ombre). Here is the price breakdown (I booked gel removal, gel extension and simple design).

$30 for dip powder removal

$7 for the extension

$63 for the hard gel overlay on 9 fingers ($7 per nail)

$65 for the Gel Solid Color

$20 for the airbrush

$75 for the semi moderate art, which would be priced as semi moderate as it utilizes a combination of two techniques (ombre and chrome)

Do you think this is fair? If not, do you have any of your own nail horror stories with unexpected costs? How did the salon price things or what surprise charges were you hit with??
