let’s say someone rarely drinks water

so, like the title says, i rarely drink water. maybe less than 10 sips per day. my meals consist of some liquid-based ingredients (i eat cereal daily, i like yogurt, applesauce, etc.) and i usually drink an espresso and two diet sodas each day. i don’t eat fruit, but i do like zero sugar juice when it’s around. i just don’t drink water often, even when i exercise.

i don’t have any overt adverse effects and ive been like this since high school (im mid 20s). i get regular appointments with all of my doctors and my teeth are great, bloodwork normal, labs normal.

genuinely, what could happen to me?

I have been drinking bottled water pretty much my entire life and now I'm scared of my health

Maybe this is just over worrying too much like I do with everything in my life but I have pretty much only been drinking out of bottled water for most of my life. I know people are probably going to hate on me and I kind of hate myself to now after seeing all of the effects it can have on you.

Now I want to clarify that I do drink from a brita filter and refill my metal water bottle and use it everyday at school and have been since I started school (senior in hs) however when I'm at home I exclusively drink from bottles. Another point to note is that water (and sometimes iced tea) is the ONLY thing I drink. I didn't grow up in a soda household and hate the carbonation and flavor of soda so I never drink it which I would say is a good thing.

From here on I'm going to start drinking from my brita more as I have been prioritizing my health a lot recently and I know this will be a good change to make. But I'm just scared that all of the drinking I've done from bottles throughout my life has already done damage to me. Am I freaking out about this too much?

Which straw lid bottles are easiest to clean?

Y’all…i just saw something major! Harmful germs and mold could actually live in our water bottles? I came across a post that said this. I just looked at my water bottle and it made my skin crawl. I did some more research and found multiple papers claiming this. I like the reusability of my bottle(we’re saving the environment folks!), i couldn’t possibly switch to single use plastic ones. The only practical solution i’ve seen so far is to wash it daily….only issue is, mine has this complicated straw lid that i can’t figure out how to disassemble ... .I need to be able to wash every single part of it. I will not risk disease! So now i’m on the hunt for a new one, i still want a straw lid bottle, it’s just much easier than sipping, i always hit my daily water goal. Anyways, i’ve been on alibaba and the like, i’ve seen some i would probably buy, i’m just not sure i’ll be able to take the straw lid apart. Any recs for what i’m looking for?

From Ralph’s grocery store and why does it taste like honey? Not a fan, would like to hear other people’s thoughts.

How a friend tried to sell me kangen water and what I found checking the alternatives

A friend started selling Kangen water about a year ago. She'd just had a kid, was looking for income that felt purpose-aligned, and someone in her network pitched her on the wellness business angle. She offered me a demo at her kitchen counter, pitched me on the unit for what turned out to be around $4,800, and I almost went for it because she was sincere and the demo was actually impressive (the bleach-test thing, the colored-water test, all of it). What stopped me was a slow nagging feeling that the price didn't match what I knew about ionizers from cursory googling.

Took about a week of research to confirm what my gut was already saying. The Kangen unit she was selling has comparable spec to direct-to-consumer ionizers running about half the price. The bleach test and colored-water demos work on basically every ionizer in the category, they're not unique to Kangen. The "you're paying for support and community" pitch is real for someone like my friend (the distributor relationship does provide a personal sales experience) but the markup pays for the distribution model rather than the engineering. None of this makes the product bad, but it does make the price hard to defend unless you specifically value the distributor relationship as part of the purchase.

The harder part of this whole thing was telling my friend I wasn't going to buy. She wasn't pushy about it but I could tell it stung. The distributor sales model does mean the personal disappointment sits with your friend, which is one of the more uncomfortable parts of buying through that channel. The product itself is fine. The pricing and the personal dynamic around it are what kept me away. There are at least three or four direct-to-consumer brands at comparable spec for less money if anyone's in this same situation and wants to compare alternatives without the personal-pitch dynamic.

Old Habits

Homies, I need your help. I used to drink anywhere from 1-3 sodas a day as a kid until I got IBS and became severely intolerant to HFCS. Then I only drank water and lots of it for ten years- until recently. I found out Target sells Mexican Coca-Cola, which is made with organic cane sugar and doesn't give me problems. Now I'm falling back into old habits and drinking about 4 12-oz bottles of this a week, and I suspect it'll increase if I find a source of other cane sugar drinks (such as Mexican Sprite.)

I need to keep myself from overindulging and get back to my hydration habits! What would you do?

Taking suggestions

So I work in field service, and my boss stopped buying us flats of water to have in our trucks, and substituted it with a water cooler in the shop. Kinda lame, but today I blew through my cold brew both of these water bottles and another drink I bring. Thinking of getting a longer Nalgene (1.3L?), just because they don't take up as much space for the volume of water so it can still fit in my lunchbox the best.

I was wondering if anyone has any better ideas than this. I do have small water bladders, but the hoses are kinda awkward in the lunchbox.

Tldr: I need a water bottle that holds lots of water, but keeps a nice form factor.

Reached my true hydro homie form.

I’ve completely gone off fizzy. I’ve drank water and only water for 3 weeks now. The one time I tried to enjoy my previous favourite fizzy drink, I managed half a can before giving up and gulping down crisp cold water. I’ve been sad today, so I picked up a Dr Pepper, immediately put it in the fridge once home because I realised I didn’t even want it, and out came the crisp cold water. Happy days, very proud of overcoming my fizzy drink addiction!
