The French isn't a random thing we do.
I got a scam call the other day, and at first it sounded like an actual call from the CRA (Canadian revenue agency) and it had the normal recording, and then for English press 1, but before I could press it, it did the recording again but in Chinese.
For those who don't know, Canada's official second language is French and government agencies have to offer both languages, it's not just a random thing. These scammers tipped themselves off by not looking up why we have two languages for damn near everything.
I just thought it was funny.
THEY'RE BACK!!!
I don't even remember the last time they had the jalapeño ones. I just went for a chicken pot pie and saw a sample table with them and got excited.
I can't eat sweet potatoes so I couldn't even have the other ones.
Smoke and spice windsor ontario basa fillet recipe
Smoke and spice in windsor ontario is closing at the end of the month and I was hoping someone would know the recipe for their basa fillets.
My former workplace is screwed
Without going into too much details about it, I'm suing my former workplace for disability discrimination and hostile work environment. I went to the emergency room instead of work one day and my boss lost her mind and took away my disability accommodations that had been established for 3 years.
Well once I quit all my shifts got assigned to my coworker who had moved to casual/ on call because of mental health issues. She's now doing twice as many shifts as she was originally. She going on stress leave starting next week.
Plus her sister in law works nights right now and probably won't stay if my coworker actually leaves.
I warned my boss before I quit that this wasn't going to go the way she wanted it and now she's completely fucked.
Also I'm not American, please don't give me advice based on American laws.
Edit: Just got off the phone with my coworker and it is wild.
One day shift employee is on medical leave until September.
Boss demanded coworker come in to cover days because the one cook had a bloody nose. Yeah.
Boss ignored replies from said coworker saying she would not be able to cover a certain shift and asked where she was day of.
They've had applications and interviews but no ones been hired BECAUSE THE BOSS KEEPS FORGETTING TO SEND THE OFFERS
Boss talked shit about coworker to coworkers sister in law.
Boss will refuse to do shifts herself because she took an extra shift 4 days ago. So coworker asked for Sunday midnights off and was told no because boss covered Friday afternoon. These are 4 hour shifts btw
Boss, umprompted, went up to the custodians I was friends with and told them she's a good person. (Cafeteria, feeding the custodians is our equivalent of feeding the dishwasher)
Shit is so fucked there it's unbelievable. Coworker was going to quit if she was able to get unemployment, which you can get from quitting in this situation but after talking to her step-dad who works for the unemployment office they decided stress leave was better for now.
We're supposed to hang out sometime and I'll get to see her super fluffy puppy.
Met my friends cats today. They think I'm tasty.
Does anyone know what happened with pool schedules? Used to be able to go anytime between open and close.
I live near the remington park pool and downloaded the schedule, but it's 12-4 or 5-8. What happened to being open all day and you come whenever? All the pools are like this now. I get covid restricted stuff but this can't really be better?
I wanted taco time loaded mexi fries but don't live near a taco time. Made my own.
It's tater tots, seasoned ground beef and cheese slices cause I was too lazy to make queso. It absolutely hit the spot.
A standard issue photoshoot.
Meesh is my roommates cat that has accepted me for cuddles but only if I'm sitting on roommates bed.
Does anyone else have a hard time making doctors concentrate on a problem that isn't diabetes?
Went to the doctor because I have multiple symptoms of hodgkin's lymphoma so he orders bloodwork. Bloodwork comes back and my a1c is a bit high. I know it's high, for the past 2 months I've been in a really stressful situation where I'm basically either working or sleeping so I haven't been eating as well as I should be.
Blood count is good, no current swollen lymph nodes so that's the end of the cancer conversation, he refuses to talk about it any further. I ask him why my lymph nodes swell up any time I have alcohol, he says I don't know and what do you want me to do about it.
I don't think I've had a doctors appointment since I got diagnosed that hasn't included "Well your diabetes..." like it's the new lose weight. Ear ache? How's your blood sugar? Respiratory infection? How's your blood sugar? Chronic pain from an extra bone jammed into a joint? Guess what gets brought up. And I know it affects basically everything but holy shit.
I don't currently have a family doctor so I don't know if I should try to get a second opinion and just not mention the diabetes or go back and take a shot in the waiting room so they can see me all swollen from alcohol.
Employment lawyer recommendation: constructive dismissal and disability discrimination
I'm looking for recommendations for an employment lawyer who can help me with constructive dismissal and disability discrimination.
Ideally they'd do contingency but honestly if they don't I can probably work something out.
I don't know if any other information is needed when looking for a lawyer so if somethings missing let me know.
Request: need about $50 (canadian) for doctors note, iodine and a bit of gas money.
I had an abscess that I was getting dressed every day for the last 2 weeks at a walk in clinic because of where it was it wasn't healing fast. Doctor said not to put a bandage on it anymore but use iodine for a few days. I don't have any, it's like $5 at Walmart.
I called off work on Friday because my hip hurt and now my boss won't let me work without a doctors note saying I can. That's $20. I can't afford to be off work until Friday.
I had unexpected car issues today and spent the last of my money on that.
Even if I just get enough for the doctors note I can figure the rest out.
I really only have etransfer.
Most unprofessional but funniest thing I've ever done
I work in a cafeteria and my friend texts me her order. She gets the special with a salad and when it's time to make it I remember she always gets ranch with the salad, but I haven't had time to make ranch lately and I'm the only one who makes it.
So I remember that I went to 7-11 earlier that day and got chicken strips and didn't end up using the ranch packet, it was still in my purse. So I give it to her with her salad and tell her about it, and that if it were any other person I wouldn't have done that. She thought it was hilarious.
Nacho toppings and alfredo lasagna
Nacho topping, alfredo lasagna, zucchini falafel and cowboy cookie square.
The nacho toppings is black beans, corn, red pepper, spinach, shredded pork (I had no shredded chicken) and enchilada sauce all mixed up and frozen in a large ice cube tray, each one holds about 1/3rd cup. Thaw and bake or microwave on nachos with cheese.
Alfredo lasagna is ricotta, alfredo sauce, spinach, broccoli and cooked chicken. I mixed the sauce, ricotta, spinach and broccoli together and layered that with sliced chicken (shredded would've been better) and oven ready lasagna noodles. I parbaked it so it would stay together better. One needed a little extra liquid so I poured some chicken broth on it and baked it a bit longer.
The alfredo lasagna may be the best thing I've ever made.

Roommates cat decided to climb onto my window to hiss at outdoor cats
I moved everything away from the window because we're putting new ones in tomorrow, I have no idea how she got 10 feet up.
She's fine now that I got her down.
Had the most ungrateful little fosters the last 2 weeks, here they are melting in a nice cool basement instead of 113° humidex
HR can only meet with me outside my work hours. Should I be paid for the meeting?
I'm having issues with my boss being hostile (legitimately hostile) towards me because I'm on modified duty. There is an active investigation now and I have a meeting with HR tomorrow but tomorrow is our day off for canada day. We're technically contractors at a company that does 4th of July instead (tax stuff is taken care of) so we have the Friday off for the holiday, but other locations in our company doesn't.
In addition to this I work evenings and midnights, so I'm pretty much never going to get an HR meeting during my work hours. It feels unfair that I have to spend part of a "holiday" in a work related meeting.
I have a consultation with a lawyer before the HR meeting, but I wanted to see if this is even a reasonable thing to ask for.
Windsor Essex area if it matters. I am an hourly employee.
Does it count as a lunchable if you use a spoon?
Chicken roll ups, BBQ mayo, orzo pasta salad and cherries.
Covered where I accidentally put horseradish mayo 🤢
