Impulse buy. Zero regrets.

A little while ago there was a post on this sub where someone was looking for recommendations re novelty bags.

One person commented “Wicker Darling” (with a note of their great humanitarian background) and within the hour, my order was in.

Well, the order arrived yesterday and I have ZERO REGRETS on this (kinda pricy) novelty impulse buy! It’s my first novelty bag and I’m in love.

My partner rolled his eyes when it arrived (with love lol) and today he told the ladies at his office about it… they made him call me to send pictures!

Obviously, I was more than happy to accommodate and they are now >!demanding!< I bring it to the work function tomorrow (a casual end of summer social). I wouldn’t have worn him to this function but sure as shit will now!!

Just wanted to share with the group that started it all 🫶

First pre-loved bag - is this Loewe Puzzle hobo worth keeping?

I just got this pre-loved Loewe hobo in avocado green, and it’s my first time buying a pre-loved designer bag.

I’m admittedly a little blinded by how beautiful the colour is 😅 and it seems to be in good condition to me, very well taken care of but I don’t have much experience judging pre-loved bags.

Would love some more experienced eyes on the condition and whether this seems worth keeping.

Thank you! :)

Restoring a second hand Loewe puzzle

first proper post here and i might be throwing myself to the lions...but no one in my life is interested in handbags and this is a big moment for me! i decided after many years of lusting after bags and making do with high street to finally buy my first 'big girl' bag as a reward for getting a (modest!) book deal. my dream bag, a loewe puzzle, was still out of my budget at resale so i looked on the second hand market for something in need of a bit of work. after being conned once by someone on mecari japan i finally landed a medium puzzle for a song due to its present state (about half resale for a medium puzzle - i had it authenticated as i was still a little sceptical but she's real!). Today I took it to the best repair shop i know and they said the best thing would be a dye job to match its original colour...but i pondered it, then asked if they could maybe dye it black as it would go with more of my wardrobe and i wasn't especially wedded to its tea brown shade. i was worried i was making a huge mistake dyeing a puzzle but at the end of the day, i bought it because i love the design so making it more wearable is a good idea. i didn't buy it to worry about resale especially when i got it at such a good price! i'll post the transformation when i have her back but would love to see other transformations if people want to share them! here are the slightly sorry before photos - she's in desperate need of TLC!

What would it take for Kate Spade to become a cool brand again? Is it even possible?

l've recently got a bag from KS (burgundy suede with flower strap), and I was surprised by the style change in the brand. Some styles are interesting, but it's clear that the brand is still having an identity crisis.

Certain bags I saw looked very “safe” and sort of appealing to “quiet luxury” trend which isn’t exactly what people associate with Kate Spade as a brand. Luckily, the bag world has been transitioning away from old-money cosplay, so quiet luxury is no longer the hype. However, I’m not sure anyone is ready for full blown whimsy of KS. It’s cute when Dior does lily pads bags and frog charms, but Kate Spade doesn’t hold the same reputation and what is considered whimsy for Dior would probably be labeled as hideous for KS.

KS is still stuck at the rock bottom where Coach was before its revival. I’m sure people thought back then that Coach is done for. But Kate Spade brand identity seems to be harder to revive.

In my opinion, one thing to start with would be ditching that plaque logo 💀(sorry, KS, you aren’t Prada) and maybe establishing “spade” as a more prominent brand logo (similar to how horse bit is a symbol for Gucci)

Let’s discuss!

Finally brought out my mini Alexa! 💗 (Love her but she's a pain)

Sharing my first pink bag! 🎀 I actually snagged this little mini Alexa last year and finally took her out today.

Real talk though, the Alexa design is not super user-friendly. Having to undo both the magnetic flap and the front lock just to grab something is seriously annoying. Also, the strap doesn't stay fixed at all—it just slips around and won't stay put.

But honestly? She's just too pretty to care, so I'll just deal with it. 😂

Which Loewe store: Madrid or Barcelona?

I'm taking part in a gallery showing in Barcelona in November. I thought it was be the perfect opportunity to treat yo self 2026, and get my first Loewe in their homeland.

I'm planning on going early and traveling to Madrid first then down to Barcelona. For those who have shopped in the Loewe stores in these cities, is there one that you recommend over the others? I appreciate a well-designed store, for what its worth. I've also never purchased luxury, so I want the experience.

Note: I'm based in the EU, so tax back and all that is not something I need access to.

I did a thing

I finally gathered the courage to take my Longchamp for some edits. I really struggled with the crossbody kit that is set in the handels and decided to commission two holes in both sides. I love how it turned out and find it a lot better to open and carry it that way.

I find it somewhat crazy that I love the bag so much that I bought it knowing that I'll want a way to carry it crossbody and will have to find a way to do it.

Hope you like it.

Alemi Zurich - any experience?

I keep seeing a brand on my Instagram, called Alemi and the bags look really beautiful and practical for day-to-day.
Does anyone have experience with this brand, and can vouch for the quality?

New Corporate Job - Help me choose a work bag!

I just accepted a new job offer with higher pay, and will have a whole office to my own finally! I want to celebrate with a new work bag. I originally only went into the office 2x a month, but with this new role I will be going in 3x a week. I currently have the Coach Empire 40 in Merlot, and the Mulberry 2010 Jody Shopper Tote which are both great, but still wanting to bring something more unique or understated into the mix! I have been really loving some of the options I have shown in the pictures and need some help choosing.

If you also have any recommendations or if you own any of these bags I would love to hear about it! My general criteria is:

-I have a lot of bags from Tory Burch and Coach, so Trying to stay away from those brands and get into some other more understated mid-tier luxury brands.

-Under $1000 USD

-No Suede, I love the look of it but this is a bag I am not going to be super gentle with. I do drive to my work so the commute won't be rough, but still am more cautious of suede. Also steering away from PU leather due to it's wear and tendency to peel over time.

- I would like a bag that can fit a 14 inch or 16 inch laptop, something that can zip closed! I like to carry notebooks, a pencil case, a small keyboard and an ergonomic mouse, well as some makeup things. I like to carry a separate smaller handbag for wallet, keys, etc

The current list in order:

-STAUD Maude Large Carryall in Espresso

- Verified NY Club Bag in Chocolate

-Songmont Large Yore Tote Bag

-Demellier The New York (largest size) in Mocha

-Demellier The Florence in Bordeaux

My Facebook find

My first vintage fendi baguette 🥹

I love searching for desired bags that are more rare and getting steal of a deals. I searched “fendi baguette bag for sale” on Facebook and came across a woman named Lotus Lotus. Apparently she is new to selling handbags and she had this beauty for sale

The buying process was seamless and I’m so glad I took the chance and bought her! She was exactly as described and even better in person

The sequin and beading detail on the baguettes is unreal, a true work of art. I’d always wanted to find one but my bags have to be under a certain dollar amount for me to justify the purchase. This one was definitely below budget and I am forever grateful!

My very first Coach bag!

...Is a bag that apparently came out when I turned 18, down to the month😂 back then I wasn't interested in bags at all and could never imagine spending over $20 for one. Nowadays, I often walk around Coach retail and outlet stores but nothing piques my interest.

I've been searching for my perfect pink bag all year and was pining for a Marc Jacobs groovee but couldn't find it in the "right" shade. I stumbled across this gently used Madison Sabrina on Ebay and thought well why not? It sure scratches the itch! Not too big or heavy for me, sturdy but with a slouch. All the little details are perfection. I don't feel it needs further decor because it truly holds its own without being overwhelming.

First leather project vMain complete!

Hello! Not sure if anyone's following along, but I've been on a journey to recreate this object: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGlU0QwZrv8 as a complete newbie! I had never worked with leather prior to starting part 1.

Part 1: https://www.reddit.com/r/Leathercraft/comments/1umwjfm/my_first_leather_project/

Part 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/Leathercraft/comments/1vhlj0g/first_leather_project_v20/

I started out by making a couple iterations of the keychain that HahnAtelier makes at the end, after which I felt confident enough to make the main body!

Things I acquired:

  • 85 piece leather tool kit - $50 https://a.co/d/0aC2bBnt
  • Fiebing's Leathercraft Cement - $9
  • Shkira 2,2 lbs Genuine Brown Leather Scraps  - $9 (my interpretation of what HahnAtelier calls"split leather")
  • Eva foam - $7
  • 1mm PVC foam - $13
  • 1000 jump rings - $11
  • uniters edge primer and paint - $21.30
  • small japanese planer for leather - $17 (used this to jankily skive the leather, but I'd avoid this if possible)
  • Tandy Veg-Tan Single Shoulder Dark Brown $67
  • Rocky mountain Plonge Protected - Luxury Lambskin Chocolate - $75 (not very happy with these people but that's a different story)
  • Not super necessary:
    • beeswax - $6.50 (not sure if this was necessary, but I think it might have helped)
    • paraffin wax - $7.50
    • bick4 - $11

Things I already had:

  • 3D printer - printed out the hershey's stamp and also a variety of helpful tools to assist with shaping/pricking etc.
  • calipers
  • small circular neodymium magnets
  • awl
  • random-af wood to use as a vice
  • a regular printer to print out some guides
  • random af cloth to use as support (?) idk

Things I wish i'd had:

  • a stitching pony
  • 0.7 mm thick leather (instead of arduously planing my Tandy leather)
  • a boxcutter or something a little stronger than the exacto-knife to cut the leather
  • a sharpening block
  • bontex? support material with adhesive
  • a better edge beveler (I think the one that came with the amazon kit isn't great)
  • european-style pricking irons instead of the diamond chisels that came with the kit
  • a sharper awl? some kind of better mechanism for making the holes go all the way through. I think I needed some kind of cork/ or pound-o-pad?
  • a piece of granite to to skive on

50+9+9+11+7+6.50+7.50+13+11+21.30+17+67+75 = $304

The whole project including all parts probably only took $15 of the lambskin (I used it pretty inefficiently) and about $30 of the veg tan single shoulder

I spent a little under 2 months doing this (in my free time). Officially started June 25, 2026, maybe did a bit of studying and planning for 2 weeks prior. It did take part of my life force directly.

If people are interested I could potentially publish a more comprehensive study, but honestly I probably did many things wrong, so it's best to refer back to HahnAtelier's original youtube video, even thought it's not actually a tutorial.

But yeah, the janky amazon toolkit can get you pretty far!!!
