Ok, I know many many many people dislike Gucci and I know Demna is pretty polarizing. I, too, was a bit worried about him. But goddamn he is casting a spell on me this year. I already got the medium brera in black leather and black mini anti-theft bag that I used on trips (domestic and international) this year. I love love love the slouch and hand feel of the leather. The ones I already have from this year just keep getting better the more I beat them up. I need someone to slap me out of it. I’ve already started daily anti-affirmations but it is not working. I have never liked so many bags from Gucci in a single year…ever.

Floral tote: I’m a boy. The floral print is too much. But it’s so pretty and I can’t stop…the black option is otherworldly stunning in the flesh…

Borsettos: too “it bag”, already got a blue Celine boston this year…but the lines are sublime and every option is so beautiful and different in their own way…even the black canvas new york edition! ugh.

Refuse to Play the Game

I respect those who do it but I personally refuse to play the Hermes game in hopes I’ll be granted the creation of a wish list. I just won’t do it.

I travelled to Japan with hopes I might find a preloved Kelly 28 for a “reasonable” price (whatever that means) but I wasn’t going to bend over backwards. For whatever reason, my last stop of the day had exactly what I never knew I wanted. I scored a 2005 Kelly 28 in box leather in a yellowish/tan color (Please don’t come after me for not knowing the exact color) and it’s an absolute dream. It has dings and scratches but that’s what drew me to it even more, it means that the bag was well loved and not babied. So introducing to this group, my new to me baby!

Deciding between the LV OnTheGo prints / colours

Hello! I turn 30 next month and want to gift myself an LV bag - I want a tote and I like the more structured OTG compared to Neverfull. I would love your input between the three prints / colours (pics below!).

Black Empriente - I like the subtlety of it and found it timeless and classy, but from the pics my friends and family say it looks like “any other bag”… thoughts? Is it too boring?

Black dual colour - Also nice but I wonder if it’s too loud in terms of the logo and LV monogram and I would feel conscious?

Beige dual colour - Liked this too but I think I prefer the black for the colour transfer issues etc and it also looks better on brown skin

Any suggestions / perspectives from this lovely community very welcome!

Took this beauty out for my birthday

Got my dream bag (and my first luxury bag) in Seoul a week ago and wearing it for the first time today. Celine's Camille 16 in deep burgundy. It was my dream color for a while, but in Europe it was sold out by the time I realized it's available. Couldn't be more happy to have gotten it! It's one of my all time favorite Celine designs, unfortunately they won't be releasing more of them per my understanding and this design will disappear all together, due to change in designers. Makes it even more special though.

Quince flamenco dupe first impressions

(Please tell me why I made my first post here a couple weeks ago wanting advice for my first nicer bag and now I have a long list of bags I want to get! New hobby unlocked lol!)

When I first saw the Flamenco I wasn't that impressed but it slowly grew on me and now I think it's so cute!! The first bag I got was black so now I want something in the tan or cognac family. Surprisingly my husband was on board with an expensive bag so I went into Loewe to see them and was surprised I didn't like Warm Desert as much as I thought. Was a little too light/yellow toned for me and I didn't like the black edging. Sand was a pass too, didn't look good with my skin tone. That left Squirrel which I think I like the best but it somehow felt a bit too warm/orange and I would've preferred for it to be just a touch more of a neutral brown. And not to split hairs but I also don't prefer the logo/hardware being silver. For such an expensive bag those things gave me pause.

Came across the Quince dupe and decided to order not expecting much but I actually really like it and it might scratch the itch for now.

Pros for me:
Gold hardware, real leather, no logos, interior pockets, good brown color, no black edging, smaller little knot things, the price was very affordable ($122)

Cons for me:
It's a little bit smaller than the medium Flamenco and it could be roomier. Filling it up makes it harder to cinch and close. Strap is weirdly long, I would only use it on the shortest setting and I'm tall. Leather is not as soft and smushy of course.

First pic: Loewe L-R, mini squirrel, mini warm desert, medium sand
Second and third pics: Quince Italian Leather Drawstring Pouch Crossbody
Fourth pic: crossbody with the strap on the shortest setting (I am 5'8")
Fifth pic: shoulder carry with the strap on the shortest setting
Sixth pic: crossbody with the strap on the longest setting. Looks absurd and I am tall so why did they make the strap so long?!
Seventh pic: Interior (one open pocket, one zipper pocket)

I make handstitched leather handbags

This bag is cut and stitched by hand. I don't ever use machines in any of my projects.

Fun fact on this project. I stitched in black, hated it. Then stitched in a matching brown which was alright. Then I had a khaki colored thread come in the mail and thought, "god dammit, now I have to unstitch the bag again". So I ended up stitching this bag 3 times. All told it took about 16 hours to make from all the unstitching I to do.

I'd love to know what you all think since you're the experts on handbags!

A scary diagnosis pushed me over the edge to buy this sweet, impractical little mini bag I'd been eyeing. (Plus her own cardholder since of course my normal wallet is too big.) Omg she is so cute. My first mini.

Proa or cons?

I'm not a designer girly, really not much of a fashion girly, although I admire from a distance. My conundrum is that I've fallen in love with this bag. I honestly have never spent more than $40 on a purse, so even though it's not a super expensive bag on the larger scale, it is def expensive to me. Can anyone provide pros or cons to the purse. I'm gonna sleep on it either way. Thanks in advance!!!

trying to find bags that have art in them

as the title says. I don't know what brands to look for, and when it comes to the second hand market, I find nothing. any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I want to thank everyone's suggestions, it really means a lot to me. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just really picky, lol. To be honest, I need more brands to make well curated designs.

News: Dior CEO Delphine Arnault says brand is rethinking prices as luxury shoppers push back

https://cnaluxury.channelnewsasia.com/obsessions/dior-delphine-arnault-pricing-luxury-slowdown-293791

“Dior chief executive Delphine Arnault has said the brand is reassessing its approach to pricing on some products as the luxury industry attempts to win back customers put off by precipitous rises.”

”“We are working a lot on the leather offer and we’re very cautious about the prices,” Arnault said at the FT’s Business of Luxury conference in Puglia on Monday (May 18). “We can’t really increase the price of a product without increasing the perception of the quality and the product. It’s important to work on that.”

She noted that Dior had not increased prices on its Lady Dior bag since 2023, except for two currencies that had devalued. Anderson’s first designs for the house were rushed into boutiques on Jan 2 this year — including several lower-priced product offerings — to demonstrate the brand’s new strategy and look.

Price rises at brands including Dior, Louis Vuitton and Chanel in recent years have caused a backlash among some shoppers. Some luxury products are up to 1.7 times more expensive than they were in 2019 according to consultancy Bain, a factor that has caused middle-class shoppers to leave the industry in droves and even deterred some wealthier buyers.“

Found this at my grandmother’s house — gifted to her ~50 years ago. Any info on the model / age?

Hi everyone,

I recently found this bag at my grandmother’s house. According to her, it was gifted to her around 50 years ago.

I know absolutely nothing about handbags or luxury brands, so I’m mostly trying to learn more about it.

I’m curious whether anyone recognizes the model, approximate era, or vintage details. It has a quilted design, chain strap, CC logo, a small CHANEL® leather tag inside, and the clasp/hardware appears to be marked “Victory Hook PK3940.”

I couldn’t find a serial number inside.

Any information, history, or vintage Chanel knowledge would be greatly appreciated — I’m just trying to understand what exactly this is!

Thanks!
