What's your experience with Nematodes?

Hello all! I have a severe gnat problem, and neem oil and sticky strips are just not cutting it.

I've heard people praise nematodes as a great solution, but the bit of research I did made me nervous.

How big do they get? Is there any possibility of them leaving the soil/pot? What's the situation like after they die? Is there another alternative for the weak of heart?

Plant Pest

So I’m a newer plant parent and don’t have much knowledge as far as pests go and I’ve only ever had to deal with fungus gnats so far thankfully, but I recently bought a string of pearls plant and she’s been doing good so far, except today I noticed it had a few bugs on it. I’ve tried researching different pests, but can’t come to a final conclusion of what they are. I will attach pictures of them, however, there were 2 what looked like gnats, that had crawled into the soil before I could get a picture of them, I’m not sure if they were gnats though but they were black. Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Plant Info-

String of pearls
Maybe every 2 weeks when lines on pearls begin to close
Directly in front of west facing window
Organic chunky soil mix with perlite mixed in/ceramic pot
Started today, no noticeable changed.

Golden Pothos issues

Hello,

I bought these golden pothos in 12" hanging baskets with drainage from Home Depot and they seem to be dying a slow death and I'm not sure why. It seems like the strands (idk the technical name) turn to brittle sticks and can be plucked off with barely any effort. I went to water them when taking the attached picture. Any advice is appreciated in advance!

About:

- Light: exposed to a west facing window however, do not receive direct light as they are hung up above the sun line in my apartment

- Water: watered every ~2 weeks give or take, using tap water

- watered until water started draining through the bottom of the pot

- Soil: I haven't changed the soil they came packed with, have added some indoor plant mix soil on top to even things out

- had the plants since November 2025

- haven't changed the watering routine or placement

Any chance I could still save my basil?

I started growing them in May and as you can see growth has been leggy and slow. I am placing them on a south-facing window with lots of sun but I guess they need more direct light. Things have been fine until the heat wave we had few days ago and now they look like this.

Is there any way I could save them? If I placed them outside for few days will they revive?

Spread Kindness One Plant at a Time 🌱

I saw someone share this idea in a plant Facebook group, and I thought it was too good not to bring here.
One of my favorite things about the plant community is how generous people can be. A cutting, a corm, or a baby plant might not seem like much, but it can absolutely make someone’s day.

So I thought it would be fun to start a Wish & Gift Thread!

🌿 How it works:

Comment your plant wishlist.
Take a look through everyone else’s lists.
If you happen to have something they’re looking for and you’re willing to share, reach out and gift them a cutting, corm, or baby plant.
It doesn’t have to be anything expensive. Most of us are already propagating our plants, and sharing a little piece of one can mean a lot to someone else.

I’ll start, share your location too if you’re comfortable! I’m in Boise, Idaho 📍

🌱 My wishlist:

Alocasia Pink nobilis
Alocasia ninja
Alocasia pink velvet
Alocasia Frydek tattoo
Alocasia tricolor ninja
Alocasia Mickey Mouse
Alocasia scalprum

🌿 Plants I can share:

(almost all are sprouting or close to sprouting their first leaf!)

Alocasia maharani corms
Alocasia pink dragon corms
Alocasia loco corms
Alocasia antoro velvet corms
Alocasia Polly corms
Alocasia odora batik corms

What would you plant here?

A while back, I saw someone convert a tiffany style lamp shade into a plant, and I have been wanting to do the same ever since. I finally found one, but it wasn't until I got home with it that I realized just how massive it is (about 18 in across). Now I have no idea what to plant in to in order not to have a bunch of dead space in the "pot."

Also for anyone worries, I'm not making any change to it that won't be reversible.

I would love to put in something big and bushy (maybe trailing) and preferably somewhat affordable. I thought about a fern but don't think I have the right humidity for it in my apartment.

Details

Light: absent daylight most of the day, direct sun late afternoon

Bowl size: 18" x 7"

Poor humidity

Have cats that mostly leave my plants alone

Terrible with cacti and succulents

Help me with my Chinese Evergreen 💚

This big aglaonema was a gift and I have neglected it for the last year (typical life stuff…). I do NOT have a green thumb in general when it comes to indoor plants…
💧Water: inconsistent, but I would say average once every two weeks (ish).
☀️Light: the room has north-facing windows so I would consider it low to medium light.
🪴Soil: I’ve never repotted it, it’s still in a ~10” plastic pot with soil from the store from when it was purchased.
🏠Conditions: I moved a few months ago, but still similar environment (light, humidity, temp), poor guy was on a downward trend already, anyway 😅

I know it definitely needs a bigger pot, but I wanted to ask for advice before I start the process to see if there’s anything else I need to consider.

It is still putting off new leaves (pic 3) so I know it will come back and be absolutely beautiful if I give it the right conditions 💛 thanks in advance!

How to keep pothos thriving

This pothos was my first ever house plant and she is so gorgeous but I want to make sure she stays gorgeous. Should I be chopping and propping the trailing part? Should I wrap it around the top so it can make roots in the soil? Should I leave it alone?
