The shifting dynamics of international dating in Seoul are genuinely wild right now.

CNN even ran a major article breaking down this entire phenomenon, specifically reporting on how a significant number of "white women" are traveling to South Korea exclusively to date local men.

According to the report and trends on the ground, it seems that Korean men have increasingly become a top choice for international and "white women," especially among the younger generation. The global dating market is completely flipping upside down.

He is a director that always seems to have male Asian characters in his films. (He even had a male Asian character in a King Arthur film). His new film just came out on streaming starring Henry Cavill & Jake Gyllenhaal and it also has a male Asian character with major screentime. It's a good action movie, highly recommend you guys to check it out.

The popular 2022 novel “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”, which features two Asian-American male leads and a white or Jewish-American female lead, is being adapted into a film by Paramount.

The book follows over two decades the lives of three friends - MIT and Harvard STEM majors - who set up in the 1990s and run a video games development company together.

The film is to be directed by Siân Heder (director of Oscar winning film CODA).

The female lead character has already been cast and will be played by Daisy Edgar-Jones. This lead is romantically connected to one of the Asian male leads.

The other Asian male lead is currently in the process of being cast, and the casting call has been put out online this week. In addition to being Asian (half-Korean), the character in the book is disabled. True to form for a Siân Heder film, the casting call is especially looking out for any Asian-American male actors who have limb difference.

Please distribute this casting call to any Asian American actors or acting networks in your circles and localities! This will be a major mainstream production and I think one of the rare times Asian male representation will be out front and center in a general story.

Hi. Im a korean based in seoul in my mid 20s and I've been fairly successful dating WF in korea. Including multiple models who came here just for work not for sex tourism so i think i got it down kinda. I did it mostly through running around and partying in the club areas. Although ive had a lot of fun i started to find it embarrassing to show up in these clubbing places which made me very depressed afterwards. I feel like its vain and I barely even find a woman that im attracted to. But i can't stop because this is the only way for me to meet girls since i only like WF lol. I thoought i could use a change of scenery and after some research i thought poland or czech republic might be good for me to have fun while pursuing my studies. But im apprehensive that i might be killing the golden goose and downgrading since people often pick Seoul as one of the greatest cities to get laid as an asian guy. If i would be lonely abroad id rather just stay here. Although its vain and depressing going through this ordeal in such dirty streets, i still get some affection from time to time. People who have experiences with the countries mentioned including korea would you mind sharing some wisdom with me?

Growing up, skincare wasn't foreign to me, with those around me often having some kind of a routine even if it wasn't the most complex. I wasn't personally consistent with my own routine because I just didn't think it was for me or that I needed it until I started to explore Korean/Japanese skincare after college in my mid 20s due to the popularity and my struggles with dry skin. When I finally did, I never stopped.

I was pretty surprised as to why I didn't start sooner because soon after, I started getting random compliments on how good my skin looked and what I was doing, even though my routine was nothing crazy or complex with a bunch of products.

So I'm curious, for those of you who are like the way I was before and don't have a routine, is it because you just don't care, don't know where to begin, or potentially it just seems like a lot of effort and money?

If you do care, what are the things that bother you about your skin? Mine was dry, tight skin but I know a lot of people might struggle with different issues like acne or razor bumps/redness.

I am considering to move to Paris, Berlin, Madrid but haven't visited any of them yet. Which cities do you prefer living long-term?.

My most important things are good vibe, dating, and belonging feeling. Madrid is good, but I am Viet and not many of them there for some reasons, so not sure if they find it hard to integrate there.

For me the feeling of belonging is important, for example when I was in Vienna, nice city, dating is decent, but I got a lot of cold stares in public, and feeling not so good.

Same with holding accountability.

In light of recent events, I notice another rise of Asians sucking up to a certain other group to the point of throwing your own under the bus. It's like covid all over again.

Y'all want to lead with accountability and solidarity by calling out your own, and they're not reciprocating; yet doubling down on their bs. They want to gaslight us, minimize our struggles, and accuse us of spreading divide. To make matters worse, y'all double down on this undeserved benevolence like someone who tries so hard to fit in with people who don't like you or the aunt who slips you $5 hoping you'll like them.

We have to wake up and do better. Allyship is fine, but this isn't how it should work. That means setting boundaries and holding them accountable instead of being a punching bag and giving perpetual hall passes whenever it suits them.

Notice how they have no problem trying to hold us accountable. Then notice when we do the same to them, it's excuses and justification galore. If they were white, you'd have no problem letting them have it. But when it's some other perceived marginalized group, you want to go hush hush?

FUCK THAT. Nobody gets a pass. You'll need to start holding them accountable no matter who they are. We need to put us first and establish boundaries. Every other group does the same. Stop showing your belly first in hopes they reciprocate. That's the shit our parents did, and it should be obvious by now it doesn't work in a country like this. Deep down, people still respect strength and a willingness to bear fangs when needed.

Have some self-respect and start establishing boundaries.

I really have to be careful with how I speak about this because emotions are high around the Rick Chow case and similar situations like the Karmelo Anthony where Black people feels the legal system does not support them. Now many Black thought leaders are calling for boycotts and pointing their frustration at the Asian community as also white adjacent. Which I disagree with, and hope to be bridge for the road of healing.

I do not support teenagers of any color carrying concealed pistols, and I do not support any loss of life at something like a track and field event.

Not everyone in the Black community thinks the same way about these issues. There are many people who are trying to look at each case individually and avoid being pulled into extreme or one sided interpretations. Those voices are often less visible, but they are real.
When violence happens, it affects our lives too because we have to live in the same neighborhoods with less protection. Nobody pays attentions when Black people are aggressive to Black people. We suffer too.
I understand the frustration of a shop owner in the low income areas as I used to service gas stations. I understand why they use thick glass at the cashiers and tight surveillance because I would have the same if I owned a store in that situation.

I am posting this in the Asian subreddit to sincerely express my condolences and to say I am sorry for how this situation may come across for all of you because many immigrants are forced to start a new life in low income areas. This aggression and calls for boycotts are not coming from all of us. There are reasonable voices, but they are often drowned out by media narratives that highlight only one side. I am against the ridiculous misinformation and calls for division especially on the basis of race.

I will still be going to the dry cleaners, eating at restaurants, ordering dim sum, cooking barbecue, picking up banh mi, and enjoying Thai tea. I really appreciate and enjoy these great treats regardless of the calls for boycotts pushed by agents of division.I refuse to follow the blind orders to punish people who have never done any wrong to me. I hope you guys can also ignore the people in your communities pushing for more tension.

Hi there a 18AM from Sydney Australia (1.78~1.80m) and I was curious what is the dating scene like for in the UK compared to Australia? So far I got rejected 3 times by WF in the past month and that's great! (Because at least I tried bc majority of the AMs wouldn't even take a shot and think they will get rejected; it's normal to get rejected). I tried to improve myself such as rocking different outfit styles and stuff and still have the same thing.

Also what is the dating scene like in the UK compared to Australia? I can only speak for Australia (Haven't went to the UK before but would love to go there). Esp in Sydney/Bondi, I have observed the interaction of AMs and WFs is basically zero and I wonder why?

There's this Asian guy at work, covers for all the white dudes on the team, even those who are junior and have no power. When they lie about their work, this guy supports them by making up an excuse for them.

Then us Asians on the team, whenever we have some actual success, he always downplays the work as that was just an easy project, or that it's not impactful, or that the solution was subpar.

It works for him, and that's probably why he does it. He gets to move inside those circles of influence (white people still hold power and grant privileges to each other) by selling out his fellow Asian bros.

What do you do about dudes like him?
