Where have the Cheerios gone?

This may seem like a silly question, but the only thing I could get my kid to eat in the evenings reliably was Cheerios, so we often went out of our way to go to Billa to buy them as it was the only place that sold Cheerios. Then suddenly this Billa stopped selling them. Then every Billa suddenly didn't have them. And this was like a year and a half ago! I am always on the look out and have not seen them in any supermarket since then. I have been to almost every neighbouring country now and always check for Cheerios and it is always stocked in the supermarkets. So can anyone tell me why Cheerios suddenly disappeared? Maybe it is just in Vienna? Honestly I feel like I'm going crazy! Any help would be appreciated!

Leaving bicycles unattended in mountain area

Hi, maybe a little weird question here. Would you leave your bike randomly on a trail for a day?

Generally, in my mind, Austria is quite safe country, where you can leave your stuff unattended for a while (at least outside cities).

I'm planning on a short hike (8h) and to make it doable in one day, I'd like to use a bicycle for the initial part, then just leave it next to the bike path ending (with some padlock, but I'm sure there is no stand or anything else to lock it to). So the question is would a place like the one below (area south of Mayrhofen) be safe for leaving bike for a day? (just an old, basic bicycle, nothing fancy)

Anyone here applied for an Austrian Student Residence Permit for university in (Hagenberg/Linz/Freistadt) for October intake?

Hi everyone,

I’m an upcoming student(Indian) admitted to FH Upper Austria for the Winter Semester. My Residence Permit appointment at the Austrian Embassy is on 5 August

If your application was processed by the authorities in Hagenberg, Linz, or Freistadt (Upper Austria), I’d really appreciate your help.

- Were the standard documents (admission letter, accommodation, proof of funds, PCC, insurance, etc.) sufficient, or were you asked to submit any additional documents?

- How long did your Residence Permit approval take after your embassy appointment?

- If my appointment is on 5 August, what would be a realistic timeline for receiving RP approval and then the Visa D, based on your experience?

Thanks in advance!

Any recent experiences would be really helpful.

Resume question

Hi all,

I’m a professional (female) applying for jobs in Austria. Back home in North America, photos on résumés aren’t used at all, but from what I’ve read online, it seems common (even expected) on CVs.

Can anyone confirm if this is still the norm, or has it become optional/outdated?

Also curious if there are any specific standards I should follow if I do include one (style, dress code, background, etc.).

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Sunday help!

We are in Austria for a few days and our airline (Finnair) not only left our luggage in Helsinki, but also can’t locate it in the airport. We’re stuck in Vienna with no clothes, no toiletries, nothing! And best of all … it’s Sunday.

We were so looking forward to this trip but now it’s basically ruined. Can anyone give any info on where we can go to buy ANYTHING? We’re desperately trying to save this trip … we are another annoying phone call away from just going home.

Thank you !!!

Sportwetten Werbung WM

How realistic am I to be accepted in HTL?

I just finished 8th grade at a NMS and would like to know how realistic is it for me to get accepted.

I have one 3 (Standard) in German, I have a 2 (AHS) in Maths and a 1 (AHS) in English, rest of my grades are only 1s and 2s.

Do I have to do any tests to get in? If so how hard are they? Please help!

Admission in Vienna, Austria after completing secondary school.

Could you please advise me? It is currently July 3rd, and I want to apply to some educational institution after finishing 8 grades. I have attached my report card. Could you please tell me where it is possible to apply with such grades and at this time? Maybe someone has already experienced this situation. I appreciate any advice.

I am considering these options. It is important that I want to study economics.

I’m considering these options.

1. HLW 10
2. BHAK/BHAS Wien 10
3. business.academy.donaustadt
4. HLW3
5. HLW Schrödinger
6. School Center Ungargasse
7. other HAK Vienna Business School

I am originally from Ukraine. I hold a certificate confirming the completion of 9 grades in a Ukrainian school, which is equivalent to 8 grades in the Austrian education system.

How does one get a student job as an American International student

So I am moving to Graz in September to start my masters and I would like to get a student job for some extra spending money.

Realistically I would like to apply for Warehouse jobs or English tutor roles (because my German is very basic) but I am unsure where to look and when I should start my search.

I am dedicated to improving my German because part of the reason I am studying in Austria is to learn a new language and gain a regional speciality that will make me a more competitive candidate for NGOs, I just need something for my first semester while my German is still basic.

Does anybody have tips/advice?

Question about universal adapter for travel to EU

I am travelling to Austria. For everyday electronics, like phone and earphones, I am buying a universal adapter. However, my laptop (ASUS ROG Stix G16) has a larger plug. These are the battery specs for it (280W AC Adapter, Output: 20V DC, 14A, 280W, Input: 100~240C AC 50/60Hz universal). I already use an adapter to have it fit into the normal sockets. This plug won't fit into any of the universal adapters I saw in stores or online. ChatGPT said it is unsafe to plug this adapter into an existing adapter. It advised me to buy a cable which goes from the power brick to wall socket when I land in Austria itself. Any advice on what I should buy?

Moving to Vienna

Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I’ll be relocating from Canada to Vienna next year.

Since I hold European citizenship, I won’t need to deal with visas or related paperwork.

I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has moved to Austria (Vienna in particular) from abroad, any general advice or tips would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Racism in Austria

Hello!
So basically I’m kinda worried about going to and living in Vienna because of the things that I’ve have seeing and read about poc experiences

I am a North(east)African, Arab who’s also a women and Muslim so I’m basically a walking “ be racist to me “ billboard
I’m planning to study in Vienna and will be there this month with my mom who wears the hijab but I don’t .

I understand that there’s racism everywhere but I’m worried my mom will be harassed or smth.
my mom will only be with me for a few days and I will be on my own from then on, and I want to know if I should be worried about my safety just as a brown skinned person since I’m not really super religious or publicly display it if that makes sense

I can handle being called a nigga I don’t really care I just wanna know if like there violence against me or like heavy discrimination ,like would I be able to get a part time job for eg??

Also what would you recommend I do in case I encounter smth like it I don’t wanna be deported for defending myself and my mom 😭 and idk what I would do anyways I’m just 17 with like no self defense skills
Also I think it’s to late to learn proper German so I’ll just keep my mouth shut

Edit : Gng I’m cooked ✌🏽
