What jobs can i get with a Software engineering degree

Hi so i recently saw some guy ask is it worth going uni for a CS degree and it dawned on me that through these years of doing Software Engineering i’ve seen complaints about the job market and also the competition increasing drastically.

Should i learn an additional skill such as SQL to increase my resume or is there ‘easier’ ways to be more attractive in the job market as i will be finishing uni next year?

Appreciate any replies!

Has anyone managed a Sam Smith pub or similar?

Hello, all. Hope this alright to post here (checked the FAQs).

My partner and I are thinking of taking over a Sam Smith pub as management. We're both in our 30s, she's got plenty of bar & management experience -- I've got 15 years in customer service, been together for 6 years.

I've been out of work for a couple of months, she's looking to leave her role in the near future.

The offer is a combined wage of 56k, rent and utilities included. They want couples, no pub experience needed. £1000 deposit and all training provided.

Wondered if anyone had anyone done something similar and had any advice? Is this a stupid idea?

Is it worthwhile or a good idea to try and go to UNI for a computer science course

I hear so many people say it's not worth especially for computer science but i feel like generally if i get my head down it could be a smart idea. I genuinely like computer science and I'm wondering from people who've had similar experiences how it turned out for you

Will i get import duty buying a car party from S.Korea?

As title, car has crapped it, local dealer want £488 for the part, ebay is £150 from S.Korea (genuine part).

Will i get a import duty bill before/after delivery? (More concerned about the extra time it will take than anything.)

What are some good gift options for a Thai place?

I was at a Thai restaurant yesterday, watching the solar eclipse, when I started feeling unwell from a mixture of heatstroke and pre-existing conditions, and had to go to hospital. The staff were really good to me and I'd like to get them something to say thank you, especially as they were really excited about the eclipse and I'm worried they think I'm a bad omen or something. 😅 Any suggestions for a relevant and thoughtful thank you gift?

Women in their early 30s (or older) who are friendless and decided to make peace with it. How did you do it?

Hi,

F33

Never had any luck with female friends. Female coworkers would normally hate me even if I never spoke to them. Even more so when I was nice.

I was diagnosed cancer in June.

Friend nr1- I didnt tell her about cancer but said I had surgery. We didn't see each other since 2025 because I worked all the time (in the literal sense. I worked 7 days a week).

We agreed on the time and date that was best for her. 5 hours before meeting she sent a text saying "sorry, I'm tired will be taking this afternoon off to get rest before work"

Friend nr2 is the one I met over a year ago. When we met a few times she told me how I am the only person she seems to click with.

On Sunday she texted asking if I can meet on Tuesday (today). I responded same Sunday saying that Tuesday is OK. Would lunchtime be good for her?

I didn't hear from her since Sunday, Monday and then on Tuesday (the day we were supposed to meet) she texted at 11am saying "sorry for not responding!" but never addressing the meeting that was supposed to take place today. After that - silence.

I texted later at 4pm asking if everything was OK. She responded "yeah, I'm just doing a lot of unrelated things 🤦 "

I know she has no responsibility to be on top of things and she is not my partner but I did think we were forming a friendship. I thought I finally found a girl I could connect with.

A sidenote: I did tell her about cancer surgery but I was never "heavy" when we met for a coffee earlier I never complained. At some point I think she even forgot I had a surgery at all.

So right now I am waiting for the further treatment plan they will prescribe to me and I just realised that I can't do this=> I can't keep on hoping there will be someone I could rely on

I am single and I already knew this in relation to men. Mind you, every single person should be independent and I always was but a few times I tried to lean on a little bit it backfired tragically.

My right arm is still a little sore after the lumpectomy. I will need to get back to work soon and I want to resume my studies. I simply can't afford feeling down any longer. The way I am now.

Reason why I'm asking women is because I think I won't be able to

Tl;dr Women in their early 30s (or older) who are friendless and decided to make peace with it. How did you do it?

How will AI, Data centres and internet tracking affect the UK?

Hello, i hope this is an okay post to make :)

i’m currently writing a book which without revealing too much revolves around AI and how it’s impacting our world. I’ve been deeply researching different aspects for a few months now but what i’m lacking is perspectives from individuals, most of my research is on a larger, statistical, nationwide or global scale.

**im looking for all perspectives - bad and good or inbetween. No answer is incorrect with this, and there’s no time period that i have in mind either. You could tell me about tomorrow, 10 years or 100 years from now :)**

The thoughts i’m looking for include how our world as its currently progressing will effect future tourism, climate, our individual lifestyles and how our seasons will change.

If our seasons do change (which right now seems inevitable), what could we expect from that? lockdowns due to rationing food/water, or due to increasing droughts/wildfires (or the opposite; snowstorms)?

How would it affect your job?

How will it affect your general living area? (e.g if you live on the coast, rurally or in a city).

How would it affect our health, or how would the byproducts (like excess gases in the atmosphere, waste in the ocean, sound pollution etc) affect us - physically, mentally and developmentally (e.g fetuses and young children).

What do you expect to come from the rise of digital ID, control of social media and cameras with facial recognition?

What would your social life look like?

Is there anything you’re predicting to happen?

Don’t feel like you have to answer all the questions (or any at all - if you have something else you’d like to mention that would be even better), i know i’ve asked a lot but im looking for as many participants/perspectives as i can. Thank you for reading and if you’ve taken the time to comment I’m incredibly grateful :)

Are we heading for mass unemployment due to AI?

I know AI will replace people but I also think that it will create jobs. Jobs change over the years and I think it might reduce the need for certain things but make demands for others.
