Exploited in Our Own Land And Being Disrespected At The Same Time🤦🏾‍♂️

Over the past few years, we’ve seen an influx of Chinese businesses operating in our country. Now, on the surface, sure, investment is great, but what’s happening behind the scenes is far darker. Many of us are being brought in to work for peanuts ...extreme exploitation, long hours, minimal pay. And if that wasn’t bad enough, when we raise concerns, we’re met with hostility, disrespect...sometimes even outright harassment. It feels like we have no voice. But I’m here to say: enough is enough. This is our land, our dignity, and we deserve better. Yes, our government might be enabling this, but we are the people. We have the power, and we need to stand together, demand respect, and remind everyone that we are worth more than this.

Which side do you Stand In this Scenario

I was reflecting on a debate about identity in Zimbabwe, and two perspectives stood out. One argued that white Zimbabweans, even if born here, shouldn’t be called Zimbabwean because their roots are colonial. The other argued it’s cruel to deny them belonging since all they know is home.

But we must confront the deeper truth...white colonizers do know where they came from. They brought a legacy of empire, a sense of home in Europe and they chose to come to Africa, build their power, and profit from that system. By contrast, the reason so many Africans in the Transatlantic Slave Trade don’t know their home is because their lands weren’t yet formed as countries when they were captured. They were taken from fragmented kingdoms and ethnic territories, which were later divided by European colonization. So, when we say they lost their home, it’s because colonization erased their origins.
