First time apartment renter

I’ll be renting an apartment by myself January 2027. I’ve always had roommates so this is my first time living solo. My income is commission based and I’m still building clientele, and looking for a part time job on the side. I’ll likely stick to income restricted apartments/units since I don’t have a base pay. I guess I’m looking for any recommendations, places to stay away from, management that’s decent and doesn’t screw you over (hard to come by these days it seems). Any information will be helpful! Thank you!

G&B property

Hello, I have been trying to get into contact with G&B property management for some time!

Once I sent my notice to vacate, the property management operation manager asked me, through their message site, if there was any way they can get me to stay. they even offered to lower my rate through a lease renewal.

I had already signed a notice to vacate that would mean I would end my lease on June 19, 2026. This is when the operations manager asked me if i would stay with a lower rate.

I took interest into their proposal and asked for a lower rate. The operations manager, then told me that they can offer lower credit but not a rate. This caused a lot of confusion that you can see through the text. I have no knowledge of what that meant and was ready to back out.

Since then, it has been radio silence from the person messaging me. i have called countless times and have not been able to get into contact with leasing office.

I then sent more messages about how the start and main reason for messaging was for a lower rate. The operations manager then sent me a message with a lower rate and has now not answered. I called them and left a voicemail stating that I would be going this friday to discuss the lease renewal and if they could not give me that rate, then to honor my notice to vacate

Apartments with Attached Garages within a short commute to domain

Moving from Indianapolis to Austin soon. I am looking for 2+ bedroom & bath apartments with attached/direct access garages within 15min drive (during peak traffic) from North Domain. Under $1800 preferred.

Have been searching for weeks online with very limited success. Filters like Townhomes or garages are not of much help.

I would like to create a list and tour them for a couple of days before our move to Austin.

While many communities mention attached garages, their floorplans do not show them.

Some I found are

NoA McNeil, Villas at Stone oak ranch, Travesia

Thanks in advance.

$675 - Private room for rent in North Campus/Hyde Park

Hi, we are looking for tidy and responsible housemates in the North Campus / Hyde Park area in a classic "Old Austin" vibe house, in a 4 bed 1 bath house.

We have one room available ($675 plus utilities) now and another room that will become available starting in August. There might be an increase in rent by a moderate amount starting in August.

- Close to UT Austin
- Very quiet neighborhood with proximity to many businesses (Wheatsville Coop, Thrift stores, Via 313, Ballroom, fairly close to Central Market and north of Pease Park)
- The house is unfurnished and the rooms are beautiful: very bright, big windows, wooden floor, neutral wall colors
- a classic Hyde Park/North Campus house
- Spacious house with front and backyard and large trees
- Washer and dryer in the house
Deposit - standard one month rent + application fee.

Please message me if interested or have any further questions, and include some info about yourself! Thanks!

Easton Park

Does anyone in here live in Easton Park? I’m 25 looking to buy a home in Austin, I just feel like I’m throwing money away on rent.

Currently living off E Riverside and I’ve been hunting on Zillow, but after looking at a few properties east of mueller and south of ben white my realtor showed me the EP neighborhood.

I commute downtown every day, but I would just get so much more out there for my money (new build, square footage and more bedrooms)

If you live in EP and commute downtown, is it terrible? Do you prefer 35 or 183?

Going to be moving to Austin in a month and commuting to the Domain. Need advice on where to stay

Hey everyone.

I’m looking for apartments in Austin and will be moving from out of state. I will be commuting to the Domain 3 times a week and will be working a 9-5. Ideally want my commute to and from to be 20-30 mins.

Things I want in an apartment:
Walkable with restaurants and bars near by
Base rent less than 2000 a month
1bd/1ba or studio with 600+ sq ft
Would like it to be quiet during night time. It would be nice to have an apartment facing a courtyard

I was thinking about living in East Austin at places like The residence at satillo, amli east side, corazon, since they are very walkable and close to downtown and the river. Does anyone know what my commute during 8-8:30 and 5-5:30pm would be if I lived there?

Do you have recs for similar apartments in the domain that are walkable and closer to work

Short term apartment lease

I’m looking for a short term lease from June 1st - Aug 31st in East Austin. Does anybody know any one bedroom apartments I could get for $1500 or under? All the places I’ve looked at are $2000 because of the short term lease.

Medina Highlands versus West Koenig Flats

My partner and I are relocating to Austin soon and have narrowed our apartment search down to two main options: West Koenig Flats and Medina Highlands.

However, looking at reviews online, my two biggest anxieties are cockroaches/pest issues and slow/neglectful maintenance teams. I know Texas bugs are a different breed, but I'd really love to avoid a full-blown infestation or a management team that ignores work orders for weeks.

Any advice or which property would you go with?

Looking for someone for a Lease Takeover in Great Hills (North Austin)

Hi, I’m relocating for work and looking for someone to take over my lease for a 1 bed / 1 bath apartment in Great Hills (North Austin).

The apartment is around 737 sq ft and I’ve honestly really liked living here. Maintenance has been super quick, it’s quiet, the closet is big, and the location is great overall. I’ve only lived here about 2 months, so everything is still in excellent condition.

Near Costco, Trader Joe’s, HEB, Whole Foods, Target, and The Domain.

Monthly rent is around $1,400/month. I’m also willing to help with rent during the first few months for the right person.
