I’m building a tool to make Bangladesh Railway ticket booking faster — looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a small project called BookMyRail BD to make Bangladesh Railway ticket booking less frustrating.

If you've ever tried booking right when tickets are released, you probably know the experience:

Tickets open → thousands of people rush in → you spend precious time selecting everything → by the time you reach payment, the seat is gone.

We've built an early version of the website and are currently letting people try it for free while we validate the idea.

The current system is focused on making the booking process much faster by letting users set their preferences beforehand and reducing the time spent going through repetitive selection steps.

We're also working on a future version that will provide automated booking assistance when tickets are released.

The customer will still remain in control of the payment process.

I'd really like your honest opinion:

  • Would you use something like this?
  • What's the biggest problem you face when booking Bangladesh Railway tickets?
  • Would you pay for a service that saves you the hassle?
  • Would ৳49 per successfully booked ticket be reasonable?
  • What would make you trust a service like this?
  • What features would you want us to add?
  • Would you use an automated booking-assistance version when it's available?

🌐 Try the current version

BookMyRail BD — Temporary Website

📝 Give us your feedback

We've also created a short survey. It asks about your travel frequency, booking problems, willingness to pay, and what you'd want from the service.

BookMyRail BD Feedback Survey

It's currently free during the testing/validation stage. We're not trying to sell anything here yet we're trying to figure out whether this actually solves a problem worth building.

If you've struggled with Bangladesh Railway's ticketing system, please tell me what you think even if you think the idea is terrible. 😂

Honest criticism is much more valuable to us than compliments.

Reality Check for Cyber security jobs/ market ?

I'm thinking of getting into cyber security learning on my own from online resources instead of getting a university degree on CS from a low tier pvt uni. I don't really like sitting and coding lines after lines, not really interested in software engineering. Networking and cyber security fills my interest.

How's the job market for cyber security jobs ?.. On all ranks ?

Can experts give me some reality checks on the actual experience afterwards ?

Thanks.

What are your thoughts on Framework modular laptops? They are touting them as the ultimate laptops for developers, so would you get one if they ever become available in Bangladesh?

What do you think is the future of crypto in Bangladesh?

Do you think Bangladesh will eventually allow and regulate crypto, or will it remain restricted?

What do you think the crypto industry in Bangladesh will look like by 2030? Is there a real future for it here?

Need Advice: Making Money Online as a Student

Hi everyone, I’m a university student from Bangladesh and I’m trying to find a genuine way to make some money online.

I have skills in English, Bangla, and web development, and I’m willing to learn more.

I’m not looking for quick-money schemes. I’m seriously trying to find something I can do alongside my studies.

If you’re already earning online, what would you suggest I start with? Any advice, platform, or personal experience would really help me.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

[HP laptop] Why is my recently replaced battery draining from 100% to 20% within 30 mins? Did the service centre install faulty/low quality battery??

Need URGENT HELP/ADVICE about my HP laptop battery.

My laptop is around 5/6 years old. The original battery had worn out completely, even with basic use (I only use if for school, classes browsing etc nth fancy) it would go from 99% to 20% within 10 mins.

So I recently had the internal battery replaced( the service centre used MaxGreen LAPTOP BATTERY INTERNAL FOR HP HT03XL Premium quality which costed 4500tk) also added 8 GB RAM & Thermal paste so I spent 12000tk for repair.

For 2 weeks laptop worked completely fine, could use it for 2-3 hrs (unpluged).

BUT NOW AFTER EXACTY 1 MONTH!!! SUDDENLY THE BATTERY PERFORMANCE BECAME TERRIBLE AGAIN. Now it goes from 100% to 20% within 30 mins!!??

Someone please tell me whats the actual issue???Did i get scammed??Did the service centre install a poor quality battery but charged me for a premium one??

I'll try to take it to the service centre asap but what should i do to make sure i dont get scammed again? will they fix it under warranty I AINT WASTING ANYMORE MONEY

I'm panicking. What is the future of CSE graduates?

Most posts on this channel are talking about how depressing the future is for IT job holders or aspirants. I am in my 4th semester of CSE at a private university. My parents are spending a lot of money here. I don't have a great CGPA (3.47). I do enjoy cp. My rating is 1100 on codeforces. But the people here are saying the saying that the swe job market is dying. I left PME(Petroleum and mining engineering) at CUET because I didn't want to leave the country. My relatives judged me badly for it. Still my parents trusted me and sent me here. Please suggest me what I should do in the next 3 years to get a good job if there exists any.

Looking for CS/IT Internship Opportunities, Paid or Unpaid

I'm a recent CSE graduate from a reputed private university in Bangladesh and I'm currently looking for a CS/IT internship. My internship is a credit-bearing requirement for my degree so I need to complete one to graduate.

I've been searching for an internship for the past few months. I've received a few calls and gone through initial discussions but unfortunately most of them haven't followed up afterward.

I'm not claiming to know everything but I believe I have a solid enough foundation to be useful to a team and learn quickly. My main area is full-stack development and I've also been learning DevOps and cloud alongside it.

Some of the things I've worked with:

  • React, Next.js, Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript
  • REST APIs and databases
  • Git/GitHub
  • CI/CD using GitHub Actions and a self-hosted runner
  • AWS and three-tier application architecture
  • Nginx rteverse proxy and deployment
  • Application/infrastructure monitoring with Netdata, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Node Exporter

I'm particularly interested in software engineering, full-stack development, backend, DevOps/cloud or roles where I can work across some of these areas.

Throughout university I've always tried to stay productive. I've been tutoring alongside my studies rather than just sitting at home, and now that I've graduated, I really want to get into a professional environment where I can contribute, learn from experienced people and build actual industry experience.

I'm open to both paid and unpaid internships if the work is genuine and gives me an opportunity to learn and contribute.

If anyone knows of companies hiring interns/junior developers, has a referral or has any advice on where I should look, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

I took CSE in this era.

Recently, I got admitted to the CSE department at BUBT University. I genuinely need your advice. Did I take a wrong turn or what. Is CSE dead or what. What should I do now. I mean, how I can be a good student or something like that, seniors will understand.

Is applying to Upwork still worth it?

Hi, Upwork experts from Bangladesh. I am a SWE with decent experience. I have proven experience of Mobile App Development, Web Development, Full Stack Development and Deployment. I have a pretty good portfolio to showcase too.

I have a full time job. Is it worth it to buy Upwork connects and applying to work in Upwork and earn a good side revenue? My target is 500$-1000$ a month. Suggest me plans as a beginner. I have experience working as independent freelancer outside of Upwork as well. I can put 15-20 hours per week.

Bengal Download Manager similar to IDM.

After switching from Windows to Linux I looked everywhere IDM alternative for linux. But found none. We need this for people like us who has unstable connection.

Some good download manager like Jdownloader and Ab downloader exist. But I feel like they are too much sluggish for low end system.

So, For last few months with the help of 3.5 flash-lite and now 3.6 flash(High) I created a clone of IDM like Download manager for linux.

Since it's built using QT and python it runs on my old 10 year old laptop just fine. Tried to use all modern tools.

It's backend is aria2 which is backed into the app. Binary, Flatpak and Appimage build supported. Also have x86 and arm builds.

An extension which can catch download from browser.

Is It Too Late to Start Competitive Programming?

I’m currently in my 3rd semester of CSE. Throughout my previous semesters, I focused only on academics, and my CGPA was 4.00 in both of the last two semesters.

Unfortunately, this semester hasn’t gone very well, and my CGPA will probably drop. This semester made me realize that relying only on CGPA can be risky for my career. One of my seniors actually warned me about this during my previous semester, but I didn’t take it seriously. Looking back, that was a big mistake. So now I want to start my Competitive Programming journey and dedicate the next 6 months to it.

Seniors/juniors, could you please give me some guidance? Is it too late to start Competitive Programming?

Need Advice

I see here so many big brothers & experience peoples giving advices .

So can anyone tell me

If someone's main goal is Foreign after HSC not any Uni in BD but doesn't like Physics or math or Biology & currently studying at Science in class 10 but have a very & I mean very good amount of knowledge + interest about IT things like Desktop/Laptop / Smart phone / etc.

Not just Software but hardware + like basic coding ,Editing, Formatting or these type of things like a person who understand English clearly & have a PC & actually know what he is doing would've known . (Note " I have a Smart phone & a desktop which I built on my own).

For someone like him which will gonna be better academically + for foreign studies ?

Science ,Commerce or Arts ?

And one more thing I want to know is Academical education is the only way for future I mean obviously its really important I know & I am not gonna do those kind of things like stop studying or something but if someone want to be successful at life then is the academic education really the only way ? I mean if someone is really weak at academic education not dumb not like can't study or can't understand or something like that , just don't like academic education system or you can say lazy to study/understand everything which he doesn't have interest on; but have other skills , have other (Good) interests, or willing to learn & actually learn new exiting/meaningful skills/things; for someone like that person is academic education is the only way to be successful = (you know earn a good amount of money not like crazy but for being comfortable & be able to afford things that's it & you know other things too) at life ? Or is there other ways ?

Can someone actually become successful without academic education ? With other real life practical skills ?

Please I need some advice .

Thank you.

From, A young brother who is currently studying at class 10 .
