BYD Confirms 4 New and Updated Models for Australia in 2026
Any guesses what the fourth model will be?

Any guesses what the fourth model will be?
hey, wondering if anyone has gone through this process with BYD as I'm about to.
context: bought BYD SL6 July last year, since then I've had the same issue with the car worked on by BYD on 4 seperate occasions (CV joints and drive shaft issues) + several other unrelated issues and the main issue with drive shafts continues. This is unacceptable on a brand new top spec'd car that's not even 12 months old so I have requested either a full refund or vehicle replacement.
In about a week BYD will review and value the car. hoping someone could share their experience of this so I have a vague idea of what to expect.
cheers!
Trying to hardwire a BP100 battery from Viofo and can't for the life of me work out how to use this multimeter to measure what fuses are getting constant power so I know which to use for accessory power to enable parking mode
Just got a call with bad news from BYD Adelaide Medindie saying my Sealion 7 won’t be delivered tomorrow because of the storm last Saturday, 16/05.
According to them, some concrete fell onto a few cars, but they don’t know yet which cars were damaged as the insurance company is still investigating. What if the car was damaged? Can I just deny the car and ask for a new one?
It feels a bit strange that this happened a week ago and I’m only hearing about it today, literally one day before delivery. Not sure why they couldn’t update customers earlier in the week.
Is anyone else in Adelaide in the same boat?
This is honestly a massive flex from BYD. Most car brands here are still blaming shipping delays and supply chain issues every second week, meanwhile BYD is literally sending its own ship packed with nearly 5000 vehicles directly to Australia because demand has exploded that hard. The level of vertical integration they have now is kind of insane when you think about it
I have received the same emails that others have regarding my order proceeding through the system, but no allocation yet. This is for a White Sealion 7 Premium ordered end of March in Perth. However, today I noticed a change in my Account online. Whilst previously even though I had a purchase order as an email only, with my online Account just showing a Sealion 7 unconfigured (model with none of my selections applied), today I have notice the Account has gone from "View Configuration" to "View Order" This now shows all my selections and matches my purchase order. It looks like it is progressing slowly.
After lengthy watching of YouTube reviews and test drives of a bunch of EV SUVs in the last 2 weeks, I’m about 95% settled on the SL7. One thing I noticed in the test drive though was the fairly prominent patterned ambient lighting display in the dash (where I gather a second screen sits in the domestic Chinese market version).
Obviously I can’t test drive at night and neither have any of the main Australian video reviewers, so I’m reaching out to any current SL7 owners: how does this look at night? Is it nice, tasteful and relaxing, or gaudy and distracting (or something in between)? Can the ‘patterned area’ be turned off while the strip lights elsewhere in the cabin stays on?
TIA!
Every time I drop my iphone onto the charging pad it turns into an absolute toaster within twenty minutes but barely adds five percent to the actual battery life. It feels like it generates way more heat than actual usable power
So I just saw an advert on Facebook that shows you can now track the byd ships and your order through their website under the "byd promise" tab. I have a sealion 7 premium on order that I had allocated end of April and signed the license registration for last week. I went on this new "track your order" link to see if it said where my car was but it just sent me to "view proposal" section (this is the same page as "my configuration" for those that dont have allocation yet).
However this time clicking on view proposal showed me the usual "sale document has been signed" etc... but it also had a "when would you like to pick up your vehicle" box, which is filled in at exactly 2 weeks from now (including the exact time currently so around 9pm which is weird).. i can click it and change the date and time on it.. is this just a new feature that they have rolled out and that's just a generic date its spat out and everyone else sees this in their proposal section? Or is this actually a thing that people have gotten when there car is ready for collection? I have not heard from the dealer yet to say it had arrived in perth which is what i was told to wait for
Before I purchased my Atto 2 Comfort trim with the 64.8 kWh battery version for Europe I ordered the blue "old" dashcam module only to find out there is nowhere to plug it in since they upgraded the hardware.
- blue "old" dashcam is for the "old" Atto 2 Active and Boost version for Europe
- the "new" dashcam that it is for the new Seal 2026 model was thought it is also compatible for Atto 2 new Comfort trim and it needs to be inserted in the right existing plug (circled with yellow) but it is most likely for GSM/GPS antenna because when I inserted there the camera the SOS led button started blinking. So in conclusion it is NOT compatible. YES I restarted the unit several times and nothing.
-the blue connector circled with yellow was thought it is for the camera because it is the exact connector for the "new" dashcam. But it is not.
-Atto 2 Active and Boost uses DiLink 3 while Atto 2 Comfort uses DiLink 5.1
At the moment I have 2 dashcam modules none compatible with Atto 2 Comfort trim.
Any help it is appreciated.
P.S. You can buy me a coffee here 😇 => https://revolut.me/engelphoto
Anyone ordered and recently received their Seal in Adelaide? I ordered on the 23rd April, VIN allocated a week later.
Vehicle shows in ROVER entry 11/05, which to me would indicate the vehicle is in AUS already? Or can they be entered into ROVER while on the water?
BYD say the vehicle is still on water, and that’s as far as I get.
What’s your experience like so far? I’m hoping it’s not on the recently departed BYD ship, and perhaps in another that was already on the way 😂😭
I am in Perth, SOR.
I bought my Atto 3 in October. At that time, it was 'unique' enough to turn heads. People come over to ask questions, some interested, some just anti EV, propagating some of the old myths.
Today I saw 8 BYD's of different models on school run. Been seeing them everywhere now.
Anyone who claims that EV (BYD) uptake is not happening, is not observing well enough.
My atto 3 is no longer a thing that stands out.
and no, this is not observational bias (ie now I have one, I see them everywhere....)
I did not see them everywhere until maybe 2 months ago. they just increased dramatically recently.
Just had my novated lease company chase up BYD for any update, placed order for white 7 on 28th March in Perth.
BYD confirmed early July for any orders placed in March for WA
Just thought I’d share if people are still waiting and wondering like I was
We put down the deposit and were told car needs to be delivered by 30th June to get the 5% discount, but today BYD AU official website updated it to 31st July! Wowza!
Pretty interesting spot BYD’s in right now. They’re booming in Australia and you suddenly see Sealions and Sharks everywhere, but back in China sales have apparently been sliding for months because the EV market over there has become insanely competitive. Sounds like the plan now is basically to lean harder into overseas markets like Australia while pushing newer tech and more premium models to stay ahead of the pack. Reckon BYD becomes a top tier mainstream brand here or eventually fades once the novelty wears off?
Hi All,
Did a bit of digging and came across something interesting, a BYD vessel called the BYD ZHENGZHOU departed Shanghai yesterday, bound for Melbourne with an ETA of 30th May. It has a capacity of 7,000 vehicles, which got me wondering what's actually on board.
I'm not sure whether everyone who ordered in April has received their car yet, but I placed my order for a Shark 6 in Brisbane just last week, so I'm quietly hoping mine might be on this shipment
Has anyone got any insight into who these cars might be allocated to? Would be keen to hear your thoughts. Thanks

What’s the general consensus about charging the car when it’s raining and bucketing down?
I’ve read that it’s quite safe but just unsure. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.
