Long-shot: Help an injured orphaned juvenile opossum?

Came across an orphaned/injured opossum on the sidewalk yesterday around 6:45pm in a Magnolia neighborhood. It was in the prone position and barely moving. I did the best I was able, giving it some water, then moving it to some shrubs. I was on foot and without means to get it anywhere for medical attention.

A guy and his young kids came around the corner and I alerted him to it and the situation. Im hoping he too did what is/was possible to help it not suffer by whatever means. I reached out to PAWS and they said the only way they can help is if someone brings the animal to them and if nothing else, put it down. I do not have the means to do this, and PAWS told me to put something on social media, so here I am.

If anyone is near the intersection of 32nd & W Elmore St and can try to help somehow, I can offer anything I know.

Best regards.

EDIT: Community member has looked for the opossum and didnt see it. I am thankful there are kind people in this world to take time to care.

Walk Your Bike Through the Locks!!

Trust me, I get it - I have to do the walk of shame multiple times a day and it sucks, but i just had the pleasure of getting hit by a Mom on an E-Bike with her child on the back because she insisted on weaving in between people instead of dismounting

Getting across 5 minutes faster isn’t worth being an inconsiderate asshole to the people around you.

Does anyone know this man?

This guy came to our house with his dog, came all the way to our back yard, peed all over our plants and our house and our water pipes and left.

We yelled at him but he smiled with that look that said there’s nothing you can do about it.

We called 911 but they were like there’s nothing they can do.

Does anyone know him? Have you seen him before? Has something like this happened to anyone else?

Stop throwing your dogs poop in other people’s trash bins…

Just wait until you get to a public can or even a dumpster. I have a dog, but I don’t want your dogs shit in my can. Have some respect and don’t be a lazy dog owner.

Save Ballard Rail: Sign petition asking for shuttles, hosting public forums in Ballard and more!

Hi folks, I wanted to share an action network letter being sent to Sound Transit. Save Ballard Rail has a lofty goal of 90,000 signatures representing the number of daily riders projected to use the Ballard Link Extension.

In a nutshell, we are asking Sound Transit to

  1. Run shuttles connecting Ballard to the existing light rail network
  2. Host public forums in Ballard with the CEO and other ST figures present
  3. Release the RFI for building to Market St faster
  4. Explain their financial levers
  5. Use industry best practices.

https://actionnetwork.org/letters/call-on-sound-transit-for-accountability

Sign it, share it with friends and check out http://saveballardrail.org/ for August's action items!

PS: You can meet folks from Save Ballard Rail at Thursday's monthly meetup at 7 pm at Old Stove Brewing! RSVP here: https://partiful.com/e/Gi2jjwbklU3QAQXKL6fw

Edit: By shuttles, the petition likely means Sound Transit Express buses like the 560 West Seattle-Bellevue or 522 Woodinville-Roosevelt or even shuttles to the airport.

Edit 2: It takes 30 minutes to get from Ballard to Northgate station via the 40, or to U District via the 44, or to Westlake Station via the D line.
