I just finished watching Banshee S1 I find it very similar to Shield in some aspects even better.

After I finished watching Shield I needed smth similar to watch and after Mayor of Kingstown & Shield, Banshee is probably The best dark moral Law Enforcement Show.

The Plot is good and character build up aswell but somehow the Sheriff can't go 15min without screwing some chick 😭

I decided to immediately fire up another binge of Banshee, having just finished my second binge a couple of days ago. 🤣

I gave Justified a quick chance and wasn’t feeling it; same with Strike Back. I’m sure I would end up liking the shows if I stuck to it, but I still had Banshee on my mind!

Nothing compares to it, in my opinion, and it’s a quick enough show where I could justify another binge lol

How many times has everyone in here watched the show all the way through? Anyone in here made it to double digits?

I’ve decided to start my binge of Justified after multiple people said it has a similarity to Banshee

I absolutely loved Banshee, and I think I might even binge it again during my binge of Justified, but I’m going to give Justified a chance; hopefully it’s similar to what I am looking for

If anyone is looking for a show and wants to try Justified, they should! But there have been tons of recommendations from people in here about Justified, and I’m excited to give it a go

My post in here from yesterday got a lot of people talking about Strike Back, and that definitely seems to be something similar

But I was just curious if anyone had any other similar show suggestions?

I’m going to go through my last 2 posts and hopefully find a show that scratches the itch Banshee left and dive in, but I don’t think there is anything like this show. The best!

P.S — I also just discovered that Ulrich Thomsen (Proctor) and Chris Coy (Calvin) are both in the new show Lanterns that premiered last night. I was curious about the connection and found that Alexa L. Fogel is the casting director for both Banshee and Lanterns. Cool connection!

When I ask ChatGPT or look at the timeline of when Banshee came out and other shows that were on Cinemax at the time, Strike Back keeps coming up

Has anyone watched Strike Back, and can you confirm whether it is similar?

It looks like it’s very hard even to find the show to stream, but it came out at the same time and was on the same network as Banshee. It seems to have the same type of violence/sexy nature as Banshee

I also listened to the actor who played Carrie on her podcast mention Strike Back and how it was similar, so that gave me hope

I’m on season one episode 6? I’ve been up all night watching it done five and I can’t put it down. Every episode has its own subplot the bikers, the fighter etc. so good. It reminds me of breaking bad in a way.. how the pay off everyone finding out who Anthony Starr character eventually is. Can’t believe I’ve only just heard of this show yesterday..

As per title, I'm 6 episodes in, it's a really good show, I knew about it when it originally aired, someone told me about it and said that it was a great show and kinda shouldn't be missed. But I remember thinking nah I couldn't be arsed with it.

I was wrong, it's more than enjoyable. Only problem or issue even is, the original sheriff, he had no friends and totally estranged family with little to no online presence, I thought that part was a bit ludicrous in making the sheriff someone that nobody knew to make it way to easy to have his identity stolen, so I thought the entire would also follow suit and be ludicrous also, but I wrong it's not.

Does it get better even?

I remember stumbling across it when it was still airing on Cinemax. I hardly watched it then, but I definitely remember coming across it

And then about 3 months ago I finally sat down to binge it and absolutely fell in love with the show!

It is one of the most underrated shows I can think of! I’m glad I found more like-minded people who feel the same way

IIRC Rabbit told Albino to send him a piece of Hood so Rabbit knows he's turned out and will no longer be a problem.

That being said, was Albino's half-dick sent to Rabbit, and Rabbit assumed it was Hood's? And that's why Rabbit never went back to the prison?

I think it's time for a new season of Banshee, now that Boys is done. I would love to see those characters again, even if 10 years later.

Does anyone understand why she was cast? Not only does the character bother me, but the name “Deva” is so strange 🤣

The show made so many excellent casting decisions, but I can’t wrap my head around the Deva decision. If that part went to an actor as strong as Lili Simmons, for example, it would have elevated the show even more

I just finished watching Banshee for the first time, having missed it while it was out. Overall, I loved the first two seasons, enjoyed (but didn't love) the beginning of season 3, didn't much like the end of season 3, and found season 4 almost unwatchably bad.

What's odd is that Banshee is really two different shows. The first two and a half seasons are a fun, sexy, pulp anchored around each of the characters having a double life: Hood as a criminal masquerading as a sheriff, Carrie as an assassin and thief masquerading as a suburban housewife, Kai Proctor as a gangster masquerading as a businessman, and Rebecca as a sultry sexpot masquerading as a virginal Amish girl. The violence was cartoonish, the sex was hot, the whole vibe was just guilty pleasure.

Then the whole show seemed to turn when Siobhan dies.

The third season lingers for far too long on Chayton Littlestone, who isn't a particularly interesting character — just a psychopathic villain. There are at least three moments when one of the characters could have killed Chayton but didn't, making his persistence in the story somewhat mystifying.

The fourth season is just one huge slog — a dark, brutally violent story that lacked any sense of fun. I found myself fast forwarding through the torture scenes because they were so gratuitous. The sex scenes were grim and joyless. Lucas' went from being an insouciant criminal to a miserable, brooding antihero. Banshee became just another prestige show, and one that frankly wasn't very good.

I understand that the actors chafed at the frequent nudity and probably preferred the more serious undertone of the last season and a half, but it took what was so good and unique about Banshee and threw it away.

I’m on yet another rewatch and haven’t gotten to the flashback scenes of Hood being tortured/recruited into whatever “non-military” group Dalton was a part of yet. But I am back on season three episode 1 where we meet the colonel of Camp Genoa and they make sure to show off the ring that both he and Dalton wear. Is it just a theory or was it ever confirmed that they’re both members of some sort of secret society of “non-military” mercenaries?

That would make Captain Murphy at the marine base the equivalent of Hood which is why Hood was so quick to spot that he wasn’t “just a Marine.”

I feel like I remember Hood always saying or skirting around not having been military yet he has the nickname Soldier Boy. It stands to reason that he was in exactly the same place Captain Murphy was before he got out - on base and in uniform to give the appearance of being military but actually a part of this other organization.

Or is this insistence on being “non-military” just code word for military black ops?

I just finished season 1 and in mid season 2, does lucas hood have the V compound in him or what ?? Because he should be dead since with all the ass woop he got
