Long Post

Hey fellow BBY employees. I’m seeking some support/advice; as of lately I have been feeling incredibly unmotivated and burnt out.

Within the last 6 months, our entire leadership team has overturned and everything has gone downhill since then. We used to have a GM that really cared and was involved with all areas of the store, however our new GM and EM spend most of their time in the SDR and rarely will be seen engaging with team, let alone coaching or even training them.

I have been with BBY since 2012 and this is the worst I have seen my store. There are so many issues that I have presented to leadership that never get fixed or even addressed. I also often find myself feeling like I am doing more work/tasks than I should considering my position/pay. I find myself stressing hard over a job that barely pays my bills. I want to do great, but is it even worth it anymore?

I have escalated matters higher than my GM and seem to be ignored every time. I really want this place to be as great of a place to work as it was for me growing up. I guess I’m wondering if this is just how it is/going to be? I really, truly love working for Best Buy but I feel so stagnant with the current state of my store. I genuinely feel like I would thrive more in another store, but I could be wrong.

Idk, I’m just whining really. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Best Buy Thief Busted Stealing $2000 of Nintendo Switch Joycons - YouTube

Notwithstanding the obvious reason the video is interesting, can we talk about how they decorated the admin office and that they used it as a spot to let police interview a theft suspect?

Jump on this A95L ASAP!!!

It might be just for Texas and surrounding states but SKU 6553384 is still order-able. I ordered and picked mine up 2 weeks ago and it just jumped down in price to 615.99!

Got an interview for retail sales specialist- meta at Best Buy, what should I expect?

I have an interview Friday for the Retail Sales Specialist – Meta role at Best Buy. I already did the video interview and talked with a recruiter. Now I have a virtual interview with three people (managers and maybe a Meta vendor).

A little about me:

· 20 years old, CS major
· Built my own PC (gaming background)
· Built a website for my high school
· Hosted gaming tournaments, made a small game platform
· Helped family with tech problems for years
· Fundraised about $6,000 for breast cancer through gaming tournaments
· Also used tournaments to fundraise for Hurricane Helene relief
· No formal retail experience

The role requires weekend availability and travel to Minnesota for Meta training (company covers costs).

For those who have done this interview:

· What kind of questions should I expect?
· Do they focus more on Meta product knowledge or customer service?
· Any tips for handling a panel interview with three people?

Thanks in advance!! :D

Interview with 2020 company tomorrow

I currently have an zoom interview tomorrow for the "Meta Sales Specialist " the pay is extremely good for a part time job, I was wondering what type of questions they might ask tomorrow and how the job is? I currently work as an electrician but have worked at retail jobs , and already own Meta products that I use on a daily.

Unethical New Hire

As the title says one of the new hires that recently got hired is a bit unethical. I know Best Buy encourages selling memberships and getting Best Buy cards however when a new hire scams a family into applying for the card by telling the father who got approved that he didn’t get enough credit for his purchase when he rrly did just to make the daughter and mother apply I get sick to my stomach. He then proceeded to tell them that they each have to have their own memberships and sells them each one. Some of you may be thinking that these ppl are dumb but I’m sure if u went into a store fully trusting the staff is there to help you might to the same. Anyways I’m unsure how to bring this up or if I should even tell anyone

Mobile Install

Is auto tech going the way of the dodo? Heard there was a hiring freeze on any positions? Seems demand for this service is way down also. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on this side of Best Buy as being viable for any time.

Best Buy to NFM

As you all are aware Best Buy is in a very interesting state, there’s been constant changes to positions and let offs happening every quarter. This being said I have a very solid role In Best Buy being a Cat Advisor for 2 years I’ve been told I’m next up for designer in my region but who knows when that spot is available. However I do have an opportunity to work at Nebraska Furniture Mart and make over 100k per year with my sale skills. Best Buy has been great in workin with my schedule especially with school however I feel like the growth for me and moving up isn’t something that is possible. Any advice?

How is the part time Retail Warehouse Associate position?

How many hours can I expect? How is the work? Also, are they flexible if you have a another job? I'm honestly just looking for around 20 hours a week, maybe even a little less. I currently work at UPS and have been there for 5 years so I do have a few years of experience working in a fast pace warehouse.

Finally leaving

After the ups and downs of the last three years I’m finally leaving.
I love my crew and SOME of the other people I work with, but goddamn this company sucks 😤

My store has been so neglected and my peeps have been working their asses off and I can see it even if others can’t.

FUUUCCCCK this place. I’ve been getting paid $17 something an hour and getting my ass handed to me by the district and stupid new bs corporate keeps coming up with. Managers are full of cope and I’m over it.

I’m off to bigger and better, bye bye Best Cry.

Learning Salesfloor

Im currently a product flow employee, shift lead, doing my best to make time to go out and learn from sales floor. What are some things that i should know, look at, and learn?

I’m interested of eventually making it into management, but my goal is to be as well rounded as possible (us product flow know what it’s like to have someone leading you that doesn’t know squat). It does feel like the company favors sales floor over product flow when it comes to development, but I’m trying to save myself from just switching over to sales completely just yet. in case it turns out I don’t do well out there.

All feedback is appreciated! I am asking opinions and feedback from good peers and leaders in person too. I’m also make sure to not partner up with just anyone, i always look for one of our top sellers.

Is Google an unpopular brand?

Been here for over half a year, yet i’ve only sold a handful of Google products.

Sell security cameras everyday, never a Google Nest.

Sell Computers everyday, sold only a handful of Chromebooks.

Sell earbuds and headphones everyday, sold only a handful of Pixel Buds.

Sell Garmin. Samsung, and Apple watches everyday, sold only a handful of Fitbits, never any Pixel watches.

Sold a bunch of Samsung, Motorola, and Apple phones at this point, never a Pixel.

Is this normal? For a major tech company, it’s strange to me how unpopular Google products are.

For the record, I don’t really have an opinion on Google products because I usually lean Apple and 3rd party.

Former Best Buy associate

Hey guys former Samsung VPL A1338353, left the company about two months ago and started to work at a dealership and I have to say, BEST FUCKING DECISION I’VE MADE. Now I’m not saying quit your job and going into a dealership but if you’re good at selling and I MEAN good at selling; then you’ll be ready for it. I was nervous at first but once I’ve learned the trims of the models and differences it felt like I was back home in Home theatre, from making $20,000 in rev with a asp of $900 and only getting a bi-weekly check of 1200 to selling cars and getting paid weekly and making 1200+ in a weeks pay and a spliff on top of that. If you’ve had enough where you’re breaking your back and spirit try it out guys.

In-person interview

Earlier today I recieved a call from the hiring manager at my local Best Buy (no follow-up email, no text message beforehand) about attending an in-person interview after submitting my application for part-time sales associate and completing the video interview. She sounded very excited about the interview while on the phone. Is there anything I should expect during the interview?

Updated subreddit icon and header

I updated the subreddit icon and header, let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas. Part of me wants to find an interior photo from a remodeled or newer store and adapt it for the header, but the tag pattern also looks decentish. :P Appreciate any feedback!

Edit: Swapped out the header for a different design, also tweaked the icon a little bit.

Can I exchange this?

So I bought a $1300 tv about a month and a half ago. However, since a week ago, I’ve been having intermittent flickering issues. I am a plus member. Will I have any issues about trying to exchange this tv with management or anything? I have video proof of the problem.

Achievers jacket

Do we get a jacket for this year's achievers? During registration they ask for your jacket size but got nothing at the actual event besides a generic bag. Did they skip making us jackets?

is there anything for me to do???

For some reason, my store deals with a disproportionate amount of fraud. Year-to-date we’ve had around 40 cases, ranging from credit card fraud to fake IDs — and today alone we had four.
One of them I actually handled myself. My GM and I both knew the ID was fake, so rather than make a scene, I just “accidentally” entered the wrong information and killed the sale that way.
The one that really got under my skin was a Verizon transaction — a guy trying to get four iPhone 17 Pro Max devices on a fake Illinois ID. My supervisor told me we’re not allowed to intervene in Verizon transactions since it’s their system, so my hands were tied. But what bothered me most was that he ported in a phone number, and when I looked up the name attached to it, it was coming back to someone in New York — and we’re in the Midwest. That tells me he likely stole someone’s number, and with that, he can bypass two-factor authentication on bank accounts and basically own that person’s financial life.
My VPL didn’t even catch it until we started running the ID. By then it was mostly out of our hands.
I know it’s above my pay grade to chase down every fraud case, but I genuinely care about people. Watching something like that happen and not being able to stop it is just frustrating
DISCLAIMER: My mangers allow us to decline sales when we suspect fraud. I’m drunk so if it seems like they allow fraud they do not.
