Left BestBuy back in 2018, anything new going on with you all?

Used to work as a sales associate specifically for the Computer Department starting back in 2012 and left in 2018. Sales ultimately burned me out after almost 7 years with the company and when I was working we were expected to get insanely high sales each day and at least 1 credit app a day. Shit got exhausting for me but funny enough I didn't get fired for bad sales, I got fired for my car breaking down lol. Are things still as strict as they were before or did corpo decide to chill out on quotas and stuff?

I avoid going to BestBuy because of Devilcorps.

I went into a BestBuy looking for an AC to DC cable, I asked for help from, who looks like an employee wearing BestBuy polo shirt., and was bombarded by telephone plans by the employee (?).

We couldn't find the cable I needed. After I said thank you for their help, they immediately start with their pitch, they asked, "Oh what's your phone plan, who's paying for your plan". I had to shut them down immediately because I didn't want to waste my time. I've had BestBuy tried to upsell insurance or bundle etc but never cellphone plans.

Are devilcorps now allowed to wear BestBuy uniforms now?

What is this customer doing?

There are 2 customers that frequent my store and several other nearby stores who buy bulk electronics such as windows laptops, Macbooks, Apple Watches, and AirPods. They buy them up to whatever the max SKU limit is and pay with all BestBuy gift cards that are on their phone and sometimes Klarna. If we don't have the stuff in stock they're requesting, they make us order it for them. What's also odd is that the account is tax exempt which I assume might have been done via sole prop with an EIN which anyone can do.

My guess is they're using stolen gift cards (fraud) they've obtained and are reselling the products elsewhere. We've submitted an Auror report and also escalated it directly via email to AP. The Auror report got taken down and the email response we got back was there's no proof they're reselling the product so nothing gets done.

Any ideas?

Best Buy Warehouse Associate Interview

So Best Buy called me this afternoon and asked me to come in tomorrow at 1 PM for an in-person interview.
Honestly I was really surprised because I didn’t think I did well on the Talview interview yesterday, and I definitely wasn’t expecting them to call me this fast. 😭 I’m excited but also really nervous. For anyone who’s worked part-time warehouse at Best Buy, what was your experience like? What do your shifts usually look like? Did you like the job? Any advice for the in-person interview would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Do other brands do similar programs to the intel retail edge program? Bored and wanted to see if there were similar programs.

Sony VPL tips?

I've been a Sony Expert for a month now and im slowly learning the ways of the game but I feel like Tcl, LG, and Samsung gets much more attention. What's your go to routine when pitching to a customer who's not directly looking to buy Sony Tvs right off the rip?

Interview

Hey everyone!

I got an interview for bestbuy as an 18 year old (relatively fast since I got the call today and they said the interview is tomorrow).

I applied for computer sales. I am guessing I should re-polish on my computer knowledge. Can I know what kind of questions they might ask and what I should do to prepare?

Thanks (:

Ethics concerns

Hey all, just a quick question, I’ve been dealing with some pretty bad leadership the last couple months. Several issues but the main one is them enabling unethical behaviors to drive results. Several of us have brought it up to leadership and even higher. Nothing has been done yet. Any advice?

Pushy Manager

There's one manager here that is very PUSHY. I am being serious. The type of pushy that doesn't take no for an answer. He literally won't let up until the customer gives in. I've literally seen him start the application process on the POS and only stopped when the customer refused to give their ID. Hell, recently he followed someone out to their car, because they forgot their ID in it. He even brags about how pushy he is. "This guy told me no like ten times before I got him to apply." This is what he said after trying to "motivate" everyone to get more BPs. That same day he also said "Not every customer is the same, go where the money is at." I'm not paraphrasing or misunderstanding. He said exactly that. He said that over the walkies, and a supervisor corrected him. I could go on about everything else he has done, but that just be me detailing each day with him.

TL:DR

One of the managers here is a snake. Unethical and No aren't in his vocabulary. Goals will be reached NO MATTER WHAT, while he's on shift.

Best Buy Talview interview + warehouse associate questions (need advice)

Hey, I just got invited to do the Talview video interview for Best Buy (warehouse associate). Has anyone done it before? What kind of questions did they ask and was it hard? Also wondering how the warehouse job actually is day to day. I applied because I prefer stocking/inventory type work over sales. I’m also a little nervous they might switch me to a sales associate or something more customer-facing since I do have retail experience. Is that something that actually happens or do they usually stick with what you applied for? Any advice would help, thanks.

Position

Hey everyone,

I recently returned to Best Buy after about 6 months, my initial position was Product Flow back during the seasonal season but was mostly just at Host. When I reapplied I applied for a Sales position because I literally hate doing warehouse stuff and Host. So then I got interviewed my EM and she gave me the job instantly because they needed people. They sent me the paperwork and hired me as a Sales Advisor this time but once I started getting my schedule I noticed they started doing the same BS and putting me up in Host and Warehouse even though I was hired as Sales and wanted to do sales.

After about 3 weeks I approached my GM today asking him what’s up with my schedule and he was like “Oh you weren’t supposed to be sales and we are gonna switch you to product flow”. I also told him that I prefer later shifts and the other host doesn’t mind coming in early but he was like “Yeah but he doesn’t show up so we’re gonna give you the early shifts and put him as the closing host”

This dude pissed me the fuck off, firstly I never applied for the fucking warehouse shit so why are you switching me especially without my consent?? Also the fuck you mean the dude doesn’t show up in the morning?? Does that mean if I stop showing up in the morning then I’ll get the closing shifts?. Genuinely thinking what kind of bullshit is this dude is on because he knows he’s wrong by randomly switching my position to something I don’t want to do and especially without my knowledge. I somewhat get the message of not getting the closing shifts but genuinely what the fuck is this dude on.

I’m gonna tell this guy my next shift that I don’t want to switch or pay me more or else I’m not gonna show up. They know they’re doing me dirty and I don’t have any problems with him and we typically get along but he pissed me the fuck off because of this BS.

Unethical sales

Does anybody else’s stores just prey on foreign people for card apps, yesterday we had a supervisor pressure some guys from Honduras to sign up for the card and then used the Honduran passport for the app and said it was “other credential” from my home state is this normal behavior

Most Apps in a day

What’s the most apps yall ever got in a day?

I once got 6 apps and 1 pm. Our target was 7 apps for the day. It felt good to have almost all of them but in complete honesty, it’s legitimately luck and I would never do it again.

The reason I say it’s luck is because before I could pitch to the customer about the card, they asked to finance. Only 2 of those apps were pitched. Every other one was completely lucky and I just happened to be the right salesman at the right time.

I wouldn’t do it again because I would have rather share them. It’s not like I make any commission and other people need to hit numbers as well. My POV is to be a team player because we don’t get any bonuses from hitting our goal. I’d rather help someone who’s having a slow day and needs some recognition. What do you guys think?

Another ridiculous customer review…

I genuinely do not understand why people leave bad reviews over installers. It’s not the stores fault that installers are stupid, 95% of the time they dont come from the store the customer bought something from 🫩

Has any part timer here ever successfully gotten a raise? Is it even worth asking for?

I've been p/t product flow for 2.5 years now and I was hired at the lowest possible hourly. Since then I've only ever gotten the 3% annual raise despite being capable of (and scheduled to at times) running all store ops by myself on a weekday. I'm pretty cool with all management at my current store. Although I only transferred to this location 2 months ago, they've told me a few times how glad they are to have me and how I'm one of their favorites etc. so I feel like now more than ever would be the time to ask. I know most people in warehouse are making more than me but I'm just not sure if it would be a fair ask and I have no idea who has the final say in that in the case i were to ask for a raise.
