Anyone else can't ESL flash anymore?

Anyone else can't ESL flash anymore?

I used to be able to use ESL flash on Solution Sidekick, but it doesn't work anymore. I tried using Employee Sales but it doesn't even give me the option to flash.

Anyone know any workarounds?

Military leave of absence

Hey so I posted on this sub before relating to military orders. Back again this time the army said pretty much you are going on 45 day orders here. I told management and Hr the dates and was put on MLOA. The army being the army though kind of cucked me and said actually we changed our minds it’ll only be for 15 days sorry. I called HR to switch the dates but my store already has a temp there covering for me. They said they can’t get me into that store until my original orders are supposed to be up they maybe could get me in a store that’s 25 minutes away from that one which would bring my commute to almost a hour each way. I’m fucked aren’t I?

Cash handling Certification

Once upon a time, there was a certification that specifically addressed handling cash. Idk what it was listed under specifically and I feel like I've gone through anyplace in SOP or Workday or wherever else that it might be.

Does it still exist? It specifically mentioned things like how to handle a check and double counting change.

What if We Started a Union/Strike?

For reference I am a employee in sales who has moved in and out of the company both as a seasonal and long stints with the company

Why haven’t we as employees started a union, salespeople bring in all of the money while people at corporate make millions and actively push us to make them more money(cards, rev, membership).

I know designers make commission but if regular sales could be more bonus based instead of leaders I feel it would make more sense

How do you guys feel?

🤷‍♂️

Policy for finding a replacement

Hey guys. Does anybody know if the call off policy requires you to find a replacement for that shift? I can't find it in the policies under Best Buy connect but does anybody know and if so can you tell me which policy is under?

Thank you

3 Interviews, then rejection. Previous Seasonal Employee?

A little background, I was hired last year as a seasonal employee officially as a Retails Sales Advisor but within 3 weeks to one month, got moved to Geek Squad as a Consultation Agent. I did great, my numbers were good, my seasonal term ended and they told me that they could not keep me permanently because they already had too many employees. No hard feelings as it was a seasonal I was never promised a permanent position.

Fast forward to now: I just had 3 interviews at Best buy all within one week at a different location nearby where I live, then got rejected. I feel as though all interviews went great, and since I was a previous hire with good metrics and performance, there should have been no reason for me to not be heavily considered. I'm not here to ask why I did not get hired!

Im here to get insight or ask if Best Buy locations speak with each other about previous hires, because a weird pattern i have noticed is the location I worked at last year my applications immediately get rejected within one day. Other locations some get rejected a week later, this other one I got an interview with one manager. Then asked to come in for a 2nd interview. Then a third one for a Geek Squad CA role. Then 2-3 days later I get rejected.

I'm curious if something happened and they spoke with my previous manager and if that can play a role, and if it takes one manager to not "like me" and then they just decide they're not moving forward with me? I just think its strange thought i'd come here for some insight if anyones had THREE interviews for a retail job lol.

Do Best Buy employee accommodations get taxed?

I recently used an employee accommodation for a TV and was wondering how the tax side works. If the accommodation gives you a large discount off the retail price, does the amount you save get reported as taxable income or deducted from your paycheck?

For example, if a TV retails for $6,000 and the accommodation price is $2400, are you taxed on any of that $3600savings?

Just curious if anyone who's used accommodations before knows how this works.

Normal Front End Scheduling?

Hello! This is my first ever job, so I don’t really have a good guideline for how normal things are. Lol. I’m sorry if this is, like, super out of pocket.

The schedule has been like this for a while now. It used to be that someone would stay until around 7 or 6. And it keeps getting sooner. Now it’s 3. I keep getting left up here alone for longer. It makes me dread coming in to work. I don’t want to be alone up here for 6 hours, especially during rush hour when everyone is getting off of work. Even if I call for backup over the walkie, the sales advisors take five minutes arguing over who has to come up. Lmao.

ETA: It’s not the time slots I’m upset about. I’m happy with 1-9 or whatever they want for me and everyone else. I just dislike being alone for six hours. Lol.

Best Promotion EVER!!!

I've been promoted to customer for the second and last time. I already posted that first story years ago. I see things have changed for worse.

Fairly recently, I posted a story about an unethical manager getting away with illegal actions towards customers. That same manager ran me out of the store. He tried to turn everyone against me prior to doing so. Every day we were on the same shift, he made a target out of me. I did everything I could to improve things, but to no avail. I talked to managers, supervisors, and I even reported him to ER. Nothing changed. For the sake of the rest of this rant/story the managers name is Nazeem.

As far as my side of things, I don't know what to tell you. I worked like anyone else. I clocked in, did my job, and clocked out. I didn't care about, nor talk about, the goals for the day. My plan for every day was to do my best. I don't live and breathe Best Buy. This was just a job to me. If I'm doing my best, my goals will be met and they were. I rarely ever socialized with anyone. Anyone that talked to me, I talked to them. I guess something about all of that bothered him.

Overall, I'm a generally calm person. That is until he decides to push my buttons. More often than not, I was able to brush him off. I had a good track record going until my last week working there.

One day, he decided to go the extra mile. I was a Verizon Rep, so my duties were slightly different than the blue shirts. Any Verizon, or potential Verizon, customer that came into the store, I have to serve them. I started working with first Verizon customer that came in. It was a senior fellow and I was patient with him. Senior citizens and new phones don't really mix well. I did my best to help him. While I was doing that, two more Verizon customers came in. They were together. They were going to be New Lines for me. According to all the promo meetings, those are "more important" customers. Now I can't just drop the customer I'm already with for the "preferred" customer. That would be rude and reflect poorly on my customer service. I was going to have them wait a few minutes, but apparently that's wrong. Nazeem decided to snipe the sales away from me. I told him I had it and would get to the customers once I finished up with my current customer. He didn't want to hear it. What pissed me off about that situation was that I got reprimanded about not helping multiple customers at once. The moment I tried, I was still wrong. That's not the icing on the cake. I burned off that anger and continued helping my customers to the best of my ability. After a while, another Verizon customer came in. I was still with my original customer. With Nazeem's interruption it took a bit longer. Again with this being an older gentleman, it was already going to be a little while. By the time I finished with the customer, that last Verizon customer left. It didn't bother me because I was already upset with Nazeem. I walked around the store to looking for a supervisor to talk about what happened to me. Unfortunately they were off to lunch. I was left to figure out how I was going to work off that frustration. Before I could get to a safe location, Nazeem decided to confront me in the middle of the store. He was upset about how long I was dealing with that one customer and why I didn't help another customer at the same time. I told tried but he refused to let me. He responded with a BS excuse and that sent me over the edge. I just went home. Of course, that's against policy and I ended up with my third write up. I tried to defend myself but no one wanted to listen. I showed up the next and they pulled me to the back for a meeting. My Verizon manager want to understand the issue but Nazeem is a habitual liar. Nothing I said held any weight. While he lied all throughout that meeting.

I ended up quitting a few days later. I sent my Verizon manager a LONG text about everything that happened to me while I was working there. There's so much I haven't put in this story. All in all, that was my official last time working at Best Buy. It's no longer worth the trouble. I should have stayed away, but I came back because I needed a summer job. Unfortunately, they were the only job to hire me. I'm onto greener pastures now.

Edit:

I've said all I could in the comments. All context will be found in the replies with great detail. I'm now officially leaving this in the past.

Rude customer

I’ve been with Best Buy since last November and I’ve honestly gotta say I’ve met some of the downright most nastiest rudest people on the planet. What are some ways to take care of rude customers? You guys got any tips or tricks?

Thinking of applying to best buy.

Hello everyone. Currently I’m working part time at Walmart as a cashier and it’s probably the saddest soul sucking part of my life right now 😃

Anyways I love tech and have heard great things about the work environment at my local best buy through some friends.

I have a few concerns that I was hoping some people could answer for me here 🙂

Whats the calling off policy and trading or giving aways shifts?

I can only work weekdays starting at 4 and no Thursday’s how many hours can I expect roughly with that? (Open availability Saturday and Sunday)

What are the benefits if any?

Anyways im sure ill think of more questions later. If you think i missed anything let me know! Im trying to compare between walmart and best buy right now to decide!

Magic MTG removed employee discount

As it says, as of 08/14/26, Best Buy has removed the employee discount from all Magic the Gathering skus. For a company that used to boast about taking care of it employees, they keep constantly finding ways to stomp on employee moral. There isnt much that keeps me at Best Buy anymore, but the little perks here and there were nice. This Best Buy is so focused on trying to be Amazon, will never happen, they are forgetting what makes Best Buy the place to shop for electronics, the friendly employees you get help from.

Scheduling for New Hires

Hi! I was just hired last week and my first day was August 4th. I worked 4 days & this week I worked 5. Im not scheduled again until the 25th! I was wondering if this is ‘normal’ for new hires or if maybe anyone else had this happen to them o_O I’m gonna ask my manager if I can pick up some more shifts for sure but I remember they mentioned I could pick some up through Billboard, although I didn’t see it on BBY connect. Thanks in advance!

Trading Cards No Longer On Employee Discount

Has anyone else noticed that trading cards are no longer on employee discount? I checked most we carry in store this morning and Magic, Pokemon, and sports cards all seem to no longer have any discounts, but the NFT cards do. Genuinely awful decision if this is indeed intentional

End times for Best Buy?

Anybody else feel like Best Buy is standing on its last limbs? I’ve worked for Best Buy for 5 years, before recently leaving to pursue my own business 🥳🎉 Started as a blue shirt, almost took the management route (thank god that fell through, as they picked 2 people way less qualified who were both fired 3 months later LOL) and I’ve now just ended my time there as the Verizon VPL for my last few years. When I started years ago, we had MINIMUM 3 people in each department. I was 1 of 3 mobile reps originally ( we even had an atnt rep still) PC was filled with 5-6 employees at a time, home theatre always had Minimum 3 blue shirts or more at all times, and customers never had to wait. Over the last few years Cori Barry has destroyed this company with her excessive labor cuts and Subscription based business model. Instead of customer experience, Best Buy has focused on forcing whatever few customers they have left into a garbage 200$ a year “protection plan” of which sucks SO bad, that even employees who get a discount on it STILL opt for GSP, knowing how much of a hassle it is making claims through total (along with that cute minimum service fee!) I worked at one of the busier/ higher performing stores in New York, and this last year it has been consistently empty. They base their success on the amount of Best Buy cards they get on the 12 people that unfortunately decide to walk in there that day. Average day now looks like 1-2 blue shirts covering the entire floor, and VPL’s keeping to their departments which are always empty, and telling people we unfortunately can’t help them and they have to wait for the 1 blue shirt who has 4 customers next in queue before they can get to them. I know this new CEO is supposed to come in and shake things up a bit, but is an internal hire who’s already a boot-licker for Cori Barry really going to switch things up that dramatically? Will employees well being be part of his MAIN priorities?Or is he just going to be Cori 2.0? cut MORE labor, and try to force more employees to sell off of Best Buy marketplace (he created it). All in all, I appreciate all the good times that I did have there with my co-workers, and the few benefits Best Buy has are actually pretty good. Go look for a job that’s opening new locations, not one that’s closing hundreds just to stay afloat. Anybody else have this same experience or is it just where I’m located?

At what point can a customer return a Plus/Total without affecting the sales advisor's metrics negatively?

As far as I understand it, a customer can return a Plus/Total membership, however at what point it doesn't count as negative if the customer chooses to return it?
