Reverse of DIY dock

Has anyone built the "opposite" of the DIY dock yet? I am going to have some permanently mounted DIY docks, and would love to be able to use the DIY dock to attach pulleys, carabiners, etc.

Omni mount + gibbon arms…solid belt squat, but still can improve

I had been looking forward to testing out my Omni Mount from Voltramounts.com. Had to wait a bit to get set up in the new home, but I finally got my gibbon arms out and gave it a go! A few thoughts.

  1. The Omni mount is SOLID! Huge shoutout to Charles for knocking it out of the park with this one. I was too excited to wait for my mag pins to come, so I’ve been using hitch pins. I’ve used the mount for low rows, lat pull downs, belt squats and RDLs on the gibbon arms, and more, it’s super versatile. When you can mount parallel AND perpendicular to the rack with a 1:2 or 1:1 ratio, that’s so valuable to get all that and not have to buy multiple mounts. I’m crazy close to ordering another Voltra to pair with the other Gibbon arm, but I think for now I’ll experiment with the one and make sure beyond power gets all their inventory back in stock.

  2. Fringe should offer a digital resistance option when selecting cables to pair with the GA, especially with Speediance, FA, and others coming out with their own versions of digital resistance. When I set up my GA, I had to use both end caps to create this setup, since the other end of the cable wasn’t going into a weight stack, and now I will have to order end caps from amazon for the other arm ( I have voltras and free weights, but no weight stack).

  3. If the hole to thread the cable through the arms was a bit bigger, that would also solve some issues in connecting the cable to a Voltra that you can easily unmount when done without having to thread the voltras cable through any free motion arms. From the sounds of it, there are others making belt squat pulley platforms that can be used as well with the Voltra, similar to the Kodiak belt squat.

  4. All these things are still fine, and with the 1:2 ratio provided by the Omni mount (which is BRILLIANT), I still have a lot of cable travel IF the Voltra is mounted far from the entry point of the gibbon arms. The gibbon arms are quite long, and I have a tall rack, so I don’t run into too many issues, but it is a limitation! Wondering if anyone would have any creative fixes to this.

Playing with all the angles that I can with the arms and the Omni mount, and super pumped to see what rolls out I. The next batch of ideas.

Order Availability Frustrating

Hi,
I recently ordered what I think is called the Nomad package. It’s the platform and two handles. A week after ordering things begin to ship.

The issue is the power unit and two handles are shipping not the platform where the power unit attaches. I emailed beyond power and I’m told the platform is back ordered and best case scenario I get it the end of July. Had I known this when I ordered I may have thought twice.

Their response to this was essentially that’s frustrating well do our best.

For those considering ordering it’s worth knowing ahead of time. At this price range you should receive some sort of universal device with the power unit.

Question for Adaptive Bar Mount Owners

Hi,

I want to use the adaptive bar mount with a 45mm square tube. I know it was not designed to do this, but from the dimensions on the BP site and a couple of pics I found online, it looks like if I unscrew / remove the nylon/uhmw V shaped linings, there should be just about enough room for it to work with the square shape & dimensions.

Any thoughts on whether it would work? Any help much appreciated!

Thanks.

Darko Nessie

This gadget oozes quality and even beyond what I expected in its versatility. It's very light and easy to move around the rack. I've been pretty happy doing squats with the travel platform but had no good option for pulldowns. I can -almost- get ass to grass using only squat wedges, but that's easily solved, especially since the travel platform's dimensions are no longer a constraint to using various heavy duty stools, blocks, etc.

My favorite aspect so far is using it for prone leg curls, and seated extensions look like an option too but I don't have a a rack mounted seat.

There is a tiny bit of play when using it for pulling movements, but it's nothing unexpected nor especially distracting. The shims are fine but kind of a PITA to use. Overall, very happy with it so far. It'll be interesting to see what creative options the community produces in the future.

Best DIY platform design

Just received my Voltra and want to build a portable platform for squats and other exercises. Something similar to Voltra's Travel Platform or Eve's Helios/Mount Olympus. I would buy one of the existing products, but there's no easy way to get them delivered to my country.

Saw lots of different options in this community and was wondering what's the best design to go with. I will use it with 1 Voltra and ideally want to attach a 2:1 pulley. So basically I have 3 questions:

  1. Material: steel or wood? I guess steel can handle more load, but does it really make a difference for this platform?
  2. Size. Travel platform is 27x15. Is it enough? Or make it bigger?
  3. Pulley. Would you use platform's handle to attach a pulley or add a special anchor for it?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Setup advice

I have been looking at functional trainers w/weight stacks specifically (not plate loaded) bc I have herniated discs & live in an apartment and it’s hard to move the plates around and do endless setups + I probably won’t always have the giant garage I currently have. I discovered Volta while researching what to get!

I’m seeking advice on the best base to pair with 1 Volta, I’m thinking a guided smith machine base might be best choice but no idea on brand- I’d like to save as much money as possible while also stay future thinking.

Currently own bars, plates, basic bench, eisenlink dumbbells + other dumbbells & a seated leg curl/extension machine. Currently have an empty large garage with ~9ft ceilings (in Houston though, it’s hot!). I don’t lift super heavy & don’t do anything back loaded.

Thank you for any input !!!

Offset Drop Mount (Voltramounts.com)

Just received two offset drop mounts from voltramounts.com, and they're the perfect mount for someone like me who likes using a Smith machine. I can finally go low enough to do RDLs and hip thrusts.

I'm in the EU and the package arrived within ~5 workdays. I also got 2x Hook Ups thrown in without asking, which was perfect for connecting the barbell.

Very versatile mount. I've got 2x DIY mounts on order too, so I'll be able to dock the Voltra in line with the rig as well as offset, using only one mount.

Is the Voltra bad case scenarios few and far between?

Perusing through this sub and I’m finding a lot of QC issues with these little guys. How common are these points of failure? I want to pull the trigger but not if I have to deal with getting soft locked on these guys or battery issues.

Looks like my Voltra has died.

It suddenly powered off in the middle of a set, cable went slack, and now cable has come loose and won’t retract

At first I thought the battery had gone flat but after plugging it in, it briefly shows a system error (see image) even though it still has 58% battery remaining, and then switches off.

I’m pretty disappointed as we are going on holiday overseas in a few weeks and I’d planned to take it with me.

Has anyone else had this happen, if so, what was the issue, and were you able to fix it yourself or did it need replacing?

Won’t Power On

So I push the power button one short click then a long click, it starts to blink slow, then fast. I’ve tried this multiple times and followed some type of battery shut down procedure where this is repeated twice and on the last one hold until the green light turns off. I let it sit then plugged it back in, the screen came on and showed me it was charging for a few seconds but then went black again. No beeping, can’t get it off the mount. I’ve tried about every combination possible. Any ideas? Lately I have noticed that this unit ( I have 2, ) hasn’t been wanting to unlock off the mount easily, I’ve had to press and hold it multiple times or it has to be just perfect, not sure if these two things are related.

Lower weight

Hello all. I had read several months ago that the Voltra struggled with weights under 10lbs. It appeared the pulley feel was a bit ‘jerky’. Has BP resolved this issue? As I get older I have concerns that exercises like lateral raises for example - 10+lbs might be too heavy.

Ideal distance for mounting upright from wall?

Getting ready to mount my upright against the wall for my Voltra station and wondering if anyone has found good reasons for mounting it at various distances. I'm considering either the 4.5" mounts from Vendetta or 20" from Stray dog.

Are there any advantages to having the crossmember offset further from the wall?

EDIT: This is for a single upright so that I can have a standalone Voltra station, I already have a 6-post rack for barbell movements.

Battery drain while off?

I finished a workout on the voltra at 34% and powered it off. I come back from a week long vacation and power it on to 20%… anyone else experience this?

Downgrading Firmware?

I recently encountered an issue where one of my voltras was upgraded to the newest beta with the Sled pull, however the other was not. This has meant I’m unable to pair them, and unfortunately support hasn’t been able to resolve it yet.

I thought factory reset would fix the issue, however it appears that factory reset doesn’t actually reset it to factory, it just deletes the settings and leaves it on whatever firmware is currently running.

Anyone know any way to force a downgrade or actually factory reset the units?
