BMC Demolishes 234 Structures To Clear Path For Goregaon-Mulund Link Road

Around 384 residential and commercial structures in Amar Nagar in Mulund West and Khindipada, Bhandup West, were identified as obstructing the project. Of these, nearly 150 structures were removed last week, while the remaining 234 were cleared during Friday’s demolition drive.

भांडुप स्टेशन परिसर आता होणार मोकळा!

भांडुप रेल्वे स्थानक मार्गावरील वाहतूककोंडी, नागरिकांची गैरसोय व वारंवार घडणाऱ्या अपघातांच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर स्टेशन रोडच्या मध्यभागी असलेली बेस्ट बस चौकी आता पर्यायी जागेवर हलविण्यात येणार असून तिच्या पुनर्बाधणीचे भूमिपूजन नुकतेच संपन्न झाले. या निर्णयामुळे भांडुप स्टेशन परिसर अधिक प्रशस्त, सुरक्षित व नागरिकांसाठी सुलभ होणार आहे. खासदार संजय दिना पाटील यांनी केलेल्या सातत्यपूर्ण पाठपुराव्याला अखेर यश मिळाले आहे.

BMC has launched a major ecological restoration project at the Kanjurmarg waste management complex, with plans to plant around 15,000 native trees and create a dense green zone around the site.

For residents of Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Mulund, and Vikhroli, this is particularly significant. Many people living near the facility have long raised concerns about odour, dust, emissions, and the overall environmental impact of waste processing operations.

According to urban planners and environmental experts, native trees can help:

  • Support birds and pollinators
  • Reduce airborne dust
  • Lower surrounding temperatures
  • Increase carbon absorption
