BMC Warns Bhandup, Vikhroli Hillside Residents to Relocate Immediately

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged residents living in slum settlements located on hilly and hillside areas of Bhandup and Vikhroli to move to safer locations before the monsoon intensifies. Civic authorities have cautioned that these regions remain vulnerable to rain-related disasters, and residents should not ignore safety advisories. The administration has also clarified that individuals who choose to remain in risky locations despite repeated warnings will be doing so at their own responsibility.

It's a right move by BMC but these are illegal encroachments why did BMC even allow them to build houses in the first place?? Here taxpayers are struggling to buy a house even with their life's savings.

Mumbai people can you help please!?

Urgent Blood Donation Request

My father is currently undergoing treatment for Stage 3 cancer at Tata Memorial Hospital, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The doctors have informed us that blood donation is required for the hospital blood bank before his operation can proceed.

We are from Madhya Pradesh, and currently only my mother is with him in Mumbai. We don't have any relatives or contacts here who can donate.

If anyone in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai is willing to help by donating blood at Tata Memorial Hospital's blood bank, it would mean a lot to our family.

Please DM me or comment below if you can help or need more details.

Thank you.

Railway Minister approves new suburban station between Thane and Mulund

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has granted in-principle approval for the construction of a new suburban railway station between Thane and Mulund on the Central Railway main line in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Planned between the heavily crowded Thane and Mulund stations, the new halt is expected to serve commuters travelling from rapidly developing areas such as Ghodbunder Road, Pokhran Road and Wagle Estate.

Officials estimate the project could reduce passenger pressure at Thane station by nearly 31 per cent and at Mulund by around 24 per cent.

Thane station alone currently handles more than six lakh passengers every day, making it one of the most overcrowded suburban railway stations in the country.

Originally proposed in 2019, the project will be implemented by Central Railway, while funding support will come from Thane Smart City Limited.

Starting Over.. Need Advice (Business/Entrepreneurship)

Context:

My wife and I have been in Dubai for the last decade also. We've enjoyed a pretty good life over here, but the recent geopolitical instability has made us rethink about our lives over here. This has also coincided with me being laid off my job. It sort of dawned on us that while the UAE is a place for great opportunities, you can't really call it your home and everything is tied to your work visa. As a result we've decided to uproot ourselves and come back to Mumbai. My skill has mainly been in the education sector specifically in music and drama. I've been Head of Department for all the time that I've been in the UAE, so we've decided to come back and open up something in the performing arts space, catering mainly to kids and teenagers, especially giving them opportunities and avenues for performance, I'm also looking at helping students appear for Trinity Exams the way that Furtado's does. My wife meanwhile will assist me in sales and help run the center.

What I'm asking for:

I want to connect with entrepreneurs or business owners about the pitfalls of starting a business and what to look out for. We are absolutely new to this field and are hinging on my skills working in an international curriculum setting.

If anyone is willing to share their knowledge and their struggles of how they got their business off the ground, please DM me so that we can chat.

What I'm NOT asking for:

I'm not looking for investments or money, so please be rest assured about that. I don't care what field you've been in, I need to hear people's stories so that I know the kind of hard work that is going to be ahead of us.

Where we specifically need help with:

What kind of fees should I be charging? How do I build up my brand? What kind of marketing should I be doing if I'm new to the market and might not have all the funds to pour into it? What about positioning myself in a unique manner that differentiates me from others in the same space? How do I get people in the locality to notice my offerings?

And also: what kind of mental grit do we need? I know it's exciting at the start, but as the days go by... hope starts to plummet. How do we network with like minded people? What am I not seeing right now? Like blind spots...

Thank you in advance. This is sort of our Hail Mary pass... hopefully one day a few years from now I can also pay someone forward with advice and experience. Have a nice day!

₹200 crore, 7 years, and this is the finish quality?

We are talking about Mrinaltai Gore Flyover Extension which was inaugurated yesterday.

₹200.75 crore. Seven years. Countless delays. The flyover is finally open, but looking at some of the finishing work, it's hard not to wonder where all that time and money went. Are Mumbai's taxpayers getting the quality they paid for?

By the way this flyover is built by BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation)

Widow of Bhandup BEST bus accident victim demands govt job

Six months after a speeding BEST bus accident in Bhandup claimed the life of 43-year-old Prashant Shinde, his family continues to face immense hardship.

Prashant was the sole breadwinner of the family. His wife, Kanchan Shinde, and their 11-year-old son are now struggling financially. While BEST provided a one-time compensation of ₹5 lakh after the accident, most of that money has been set aside for their son's future education. Kanchan, previously a homemaker, has taken up cooking jobs to survive, but says the income is not enough.

To make matters worse, their landlord wants to increase the rent, forcing them to search for cheaper accommodation. They may even have to move away from Bhandup, creating additional challenges for their son's schooling.

In my opinion, a one-time compensation of ₹5 lakh is nowhere near adequate for the loss of a family's sole earning member. The accident involved a public transport undertaking, and the impact on the family is lifelong. Providing Kanchan with a stable job preferably within BEST would offer long-term support and dignity rather than temporary relief.

What do you think? Should BEST or the Maharashtra government provide employment assistance to the widow in cases where the victim was the family's sole breadwinner? Or is the compensation already sufficient?

🌳 BMC to Plant 15,000 Native Trees at Kanjurmarg Waste Complex

BMC has launched a major ecological restoration project at the Kanjurmarg waste management complex, with plans to plant around 15,000 native trees and create a dense green zone around the site.

https://preview.redd.it/u7j3mded5o5h1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=4444e67667a6164d98f800d04440149b5450c6be

For residents of Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Mulund, and Vikhroli, this is particularly significant. Many people living near the facility have long raised concerns about odour, dust, emissions, and the overall environmental impact of waste processing operations.

According to urban planners and environmental experts, native trees can help:

  • Improve local biodiversity
  • Support birds and pollinators
  • Reduce airborne dust
  • Lower surrounding temperatures
  • Increase carbon absorption
  • Improve soil quality over time

The real test, however, will be long-term maintenance and tree survival rates. Simply planting trees is one thing; ensuring they thrive and deliver measurable improvements in air quality and living conditions is another.
