Cake

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cake person who makes yummy cakes that is highly skilled in decorating?

I reached out to someone via their preferred method (online form) for a birthday cake about over a week and a half ago and they haven’t responded. This is despite them acknowledging a previous message I sent them on instagram asking about their business and letting them know I submitted the form. I had reached out via email too and it took several days before any response.

I don’t need the cake until October, but I’m not inclined to move forward with a business that doesn’t reply somewhat timely.

Thank you!

World Cup watch parties? Hilo side

Looking to watch Mexico vs England today. I'm missing the ambience of watching with a crowd since moving here. Any suggestions?

Na’alehu Independence Day Parade pics.

The parade was definitely smaller than last year but still enjoyed it!

It's the fourth of July not New Years

Nuf with the stupid fireworks already! What are you even "celebrating".

Where to turn in used car oil

I’m wondering if folks know where someone can take used car oil after oil change, Hilo side. I’ve heard O’reilly but the employee in Pahoa said they don’t. Any guidance would be helpful- mahalo

Best way to store books?

I have recently gotten into book reading snd will be moving back home soon. I was wondering what is the best way to store books you aren't reading to combat the potential mold? I'm thinking maybe wrap them in plastic and put them in plastic bins, is that over kill? Is it worth getting a book shelf?

Thanks

We lost a member of our hānai ʻohana this year. Is this him?

Does anyone know who these men are memorialized on the wall near Kumukahi lighthouse at 1 corner, Kapoho area? I think the first person might be Uncle Whit. He was a very special person we visited regularly for over a decade. He was a close friend and mentor to my husband and son. He lived a bit near there, and had a big group of artist friends and family so I think this might be a loving portrait of him. If this is him, we’d like to make him a lei and say our goodbyes. We didn’t know about the funeral in time. Thanks in advance.
I’m also curious about the identity of the second person if anyone has any info. Also, I don’t know anything about the artist, but their style is lovely. I wonder if it might be the same person that did the image of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole near the roundabout on the way from Keaʻau to Pāhoa. It looks like the same stencil style. I like all of these art pieces and they make me smile every day when I drive by them.
