I’m up in Mountain View, just got back from Hilo and noticed the cloud covered sky was very pink. Was it just the sun setting behind all the clouds, reflection from the volcano, or is there another weather front coming in?
So, I’m curious to know what everyone’s take is on keeping the OG doll boxes.
I don’t usually keep them, since they seem more like packaging than an actual box that would provide protection.
I’m sort of having second thoughts about getting rid of Vee’s box though. I think because it is not the usual generic OG box.🤔
Lol, it probably doesn’t help that it is purple either, since that is my favorite color.😅
I used to try to keep all my BJD boxes, but having storage space for all of them became a big issue.
Unfortunately, the decision to keep some or all of my BJD boxes was taken out of my hands when they had to be relocated in a hurry.
One of the people that I had helping me, decided it would be fine to “temporarily” store the boxes out where they were exposed to the elements.🙄
This was done without consulting me, and by the time I found out about it the damage was already done. Because it “slipped his mind” about needing to find a safer storage space for the boxes.
I’m foreseeing the same issues with the 18” doll boxes, since they don’t really fold down easily for storage either. Plus they take up a lot of space.
I know some people use them for storing doll clothes or accessories, but most of the 18” doll boxes aren’t very sturdy.
So I’ve noticed that even when just carefully using them for storage, the boxes tend to get beat up pretty quickly.
Also, they are kind of an awkward size and shape, so they don’t really fit nicely on shelves,etc.
I probably will get rid of Vee’s box, eventually, but pondering about it got me curious about other OG collectors opinions on the subject.
So do you keep any of your OG doll boxes, or any doll boxes if you collect more than one type?
If you do, how do you use them and/or store them?🙂
Not sure if I used the right flair for this, but I was wondering if anyone had both the new 40th anniversary Sam, and an older Pleasant Co./Early Mattel Sam.
I would love to see like head shots of the two dolls side by side, preferably with them both looking directly forward at the camera.
I’ve read several posts now where people have mentioned that the new 40th girls have slimmer faces.
So I’m really curious to see how much of a difference there is between this new Classic head sculpt and the old original one.
If those of you who have both the old and new Sam could please post a side by side face comparison photo, it would be greatly appreciated.🙏🏽🙂
I’m not a big fan of the original Classic head sculpt, so really want to see if I like this new slimmer version better.
I want to set my Rebecca in the British Edwardian era, and I’m thinking the new Samantha might make a good friend for her.
