Motorcycle Riding Gear: What Is Actually Worth Spending More On?

You don't need to buy the most expensive riding gear to ride safely, but some items are definitely worth spending more on.

  1. Helmet

This is the one place where I wouldn't chase the cheapest option. Focus on proper certification, correct fit, good retention and a helmet that suits your riding.

A ₹10,000 helmet that fits properly is a better choice than a ₹20,000 helmet that doesn't.

  1. Riding gloves

A decent pair of gloves can make a huge difference in comfort and protection. Look for proper knuckle protection, palm protection and secure wrist closure.

  1. Riding jacket

For regular highway riding, a properly fitting jacket with CE-rated armour is worth considering. Ventilation is also important if you're riding in India's warmer weather.

  1. Riding shoes

Regular sneakers may be comfortable, but they don't provide the same ankle and impact protection as proper motorcycle footwear.

For daily commuting, look for something that offers protection without being ridiculously uncomfortable to walk in.

  1. Riding pants

This is probably the item many riders skip.

If you regularly ride on highways, proper riding pants can provide protection that ordinary jeans simply cannot.

Where I would NOT overspend

You don't necessarily need the most expensive version of every accessory.

I'd rather have:

Good helmet + good gloves + proper jacket + suitable footwear

than spend a huge amount on one premium item and use ordinary gear everywhere else.

The best gear is ultimately the gear you actually wear consistently.

What's the one piece of riding gear you think is worth spending extra on?

What do you think about a new Indian helmet brand ?

so i been thinking to launch a new helmet brand in india, which is more fashionable and has better safety for the price of below 2k rs and thinking of expanding from there, My goal is to sell a 100 helmets by end of next year. The biggest competitor i think I'll have is Vega, so what are you're thoughts bout it?

New bike day in Denver, CO

I’ve been eyeing the Bear 650 for several months and finally pulled off the purchase today. I absolutely love this motorcycle already! Looking forward to logging more time in the saddle once it is road legal.
