Why does Brother Asterion want mea culpa?
This is a question that occurred to me while playing the DLC. The reasons why Brother Asterion wants the Mea Culpa sword seemed a bit vague. Could someone familiar with the lore explain it to me?

After using the Martinete of Forge and Thunder quick verse, this mf started tweaking and didn't attack at all and i defeated him.
I'm trying to get 100% achievment in Blasphemous 2, i've got all habilities, all spells, all objects, 100% map but I only have a 99% completion. What am I missing?
My family never bothers me while im playing and od course they walk in right at this part. 🤣
I'm reaching to the final boss/game in order to beat it.
I ain't kill Isidora yet, but I know that she had one of the eyes.
My question is: I can go to the final without woring about "cant go back and complete some things"? There are a "correct way" to go in order to not ruin everything I've done so far?
I want to test different things. Like go to the end without complete some things; and them go again with everyting right. Am I able to do that?
Recently replayed through both games again and loved every bit of it (uh, maybe not mourning and havoc). I also finally got around to playing through the mea culpa dlc this time which I liked a lot too. Here's all the bosses ranked from worst to best, tiers are ordered with stuff on the left being better than stuff on the right.
No idea what was said
Watching my friend play Blasphemous and they decided that Our Lady would be his second boss fight (after the Warden) hasn’t fought Ten Piedad yet lmao. I was talking to him about the Gémino quest and how it’s a timed quest, how he needs the magic oil from her etc. but!!! He beat her and I was impressed. He only had the first prayer you get from the Holy Line too lmao
UPDATE: His game didn’t save for some reason so he had to do it all over again lmaoo but he went straight to her and defeated her after two tries😅
Or it's just me.
I loved Blasphemous in part because of its eerieness/creepiness: it felt as if no-one was sane in their mind.
Mortification everywhere, from genuflectors to charred visages and flagellants… To be honest, the wound kissers seemed to me like the "milder" version.
The gorgeously rendered pixel art executions really helped too! The anime-style animations of Blasphemous 2 were a huge letdown in that regard for me.
But in Blasphemous 2? Things feel much less creepy, and also sometimes… more random than creepy:
- A blind sculptor? Meh…
- A merchant being carried on the back of another man? Meh…
- Another merchant which you only see the hand out of her wares ? Meh…
- A talking hand that asks for kisses? Meh
- A woman cursed with holding a crumbling temple? Meh…
- Most bosses are also much less disturbing than in Blasphemous 1.
- Lots of executions rely on crushing enemies with vines. I understand this is mostly due to the variety of weapons, but the result is still less impacting than in Blasphemous 1.
- A father breastfeeding his child with a sewn breast? Okay, this is kind of creepy. But it’s very mild and late in the game.
- A women whose skin is being flayed by cherubs? Okay, this is what the Miracle is about! But why only one such character?
And as for the random stuff:
- What’s the purpose for Silver-Clad Crystal Shards? They increase the effect of the bile flasks. Like… what’s the logic?
- A man turning into a beehive… and gives you an breakable altar figure, which he’ll repair using… honey. What did the devs smoke?
To be honest, I’ve had the same random feeling with the beads and spells: their names are often very thinly related to their effects. But overall, it felt slightly more "obscure" than "random".
Overall, I still like Blasphemous 2 more than 1 because of its better polish and quality of life improvements, but I’m disappointed/frustrated that I was not disturbed as much as with Blasphemous 1, as if it was watered-down.
What do you think?
In the library, I tried to jump onto the vine thing. I’m just kind of hanging there if not really important or game breaking. It’s kind of weird.
Replaying the first one after many, many Blasphemous II hours - what a special fuck you to these disappearing monstrosities.
I don't know if this is realatable but despite 100%ing the game, I still sometimes learn I could parry some of the attacks while watching some gameplay videos.
For me it's the fact that during all the bullshit he goes through, even when dying in the most horrible ways just to get resurrected over and over he never uttered a single sound
The only sounds you can hear coming from him are his footsteps and his gear (weapons, beads ect)
Trully a real badass with an Iron will
No other NPC I miss more in the second game than Redento. Meeting him through Cvstodia gives at least some sence of companionship. The voice actor who did him, Antón Cancelas, died in 2021 during quarantine, so may he rest in peace. And may Redento reach his statue and his piligrimage be done.
I need help to know how I should climb up there to get the collectable. Please, help me.
