My dad acts like I'm his mother.
I'm 22 y. o. female and my nearly 60 y. o. fater acts like a child who needs help from me in very basic things he absolutely can do on his own. Important: he's not sick, he has a job at university, he's very healthy for his age, no dementia. Oh, and also he's mad at me when I know something better than him.
Yet, we are on vacation right now and he keeps asking me "how much cheese should we buy?" "is that enough pasta?" "we should remember to throw this plastic bottle away" "tell your brother (12 y. o.) to eat this".
I know it doesn't sound that bad but I genuinely don't know how to react on these. Like, what, he's 60 y.o. and he doesn't know how much pasta to put in a pot? Those are kind of questions my little brother could ask, not him.
I don't want to be rude towards him but this behavior is confusing and pissing me off. Maybe it's because he also treats me like little kid, he doesn't listen to me, when I have an opinion he usually calls me stupid.
I need your help, how can I react to this behavior?
Fellow chess players! I have a quick challenge for you.
Does chess experience influence how people solve problems?
I'm running a psychology study for my Master's thesis at the University of Wrocław, and as a chess player myself, I’d really appreciate your help :)
I'm looking for Chess.com players of all levels (beginners, intermediate, and advanced). The rating will be asked in the study.
The study takes about 10–15 minutes and is fully anonymous.
