Using contrast as a shade
Making slow progress on my new army but I quite like the results from using Blood Angels contrast to shade over the bold pyrrole red basecoat. Initially I did want quite a bright red armour, but it looked much too cartoony so I wanted to darken it a bit. Did consider carroburg crimson but past experience had it pooling too much and resulting in the coffee staining, so tried the blood angels contrast instead. A small amount of staining still, but seems to result in a really nice, rich deep red that I'm fairly happy with. So finally done with the armour, just need to get started on everything else now. Anyone else use the contrast paint for shading rather than just the basecoat?
edit: first few pics is before and after shading.
sanguinary priest colours
I've been toying with this idea for awhile combining the BA captain model and the sanguinary priest, because rule of cool and lore compliance I've wondered is it possible for a sanguinary priest to hold a captaincy within the legion or even command role leading to being able to wear the veteran's gold on their helmet and right shoulder
Who's gonna be running vanguard vets when they drop
I've never used them and considering rearranging to add them in. They seem like better jump pack intercessors so they look pretty good.
Another Blood Angels Chaplain
Still haven't decided on a name, hence the blank pauldron scroll
How much better are inferno pistols on sanguinary guard
when putting together my sang guard i foolishly put angelus bolt guns on all of them. i know how good inferno pistols get in close ranges but at the same time angelus bolt guns have the extra range to keep units away easier. how glaringly superior is the inferno pistol at the end of the day?
So... this is what im going into 11th with....
So... i might have gone a little overboard in my collection... I basically have every primarus unit in max unit size...
Realistically, how long might I expect to paint this?
It's about 18500 pts
Edit forgot a zero
Infiltrators/Incursors
Only 5 models left til my 2k is finally finished 😮💨
Three more Tactical Marines join the company.
I have a total of 120 40K era Space Marines and vehicles plus another 37 heresy era Marines.
Should I???
encarmine spear instead of power sword?????
if I am correct the blood angels as a faction are heavily based on the Romans
so it wouldn’t betoo out of the question to have a bladeguard phalanx
Quick question about Sanguinary Guard Colors
Can you paint Sanguinary Guards in black or is that considered heresy lol
Opinion on DC with Jump Pack
I’m about to build my DC JPI’s. I have 15 JPI’s, a Jump Captain, and Lemartes to build and paint.
3 groups of 5xDCJPI
Or
10xDCJPI and 5xDCJPI?
I was personally leaning towards the 3 groups just for versatility of movement/spread, but I’ve not played yet, so am looking for ya’lls opinions.
Which would you recommend and why?
Table Top Question
**I’m new to the Table Top and I recently purchased all 12 Blood Angel Space Marine Heroes from Set 1 (2022). How should I go about utilizing them for the Table top? I’m guessing all 12 shouldn’t be in the same squad? Not sure if I’m just over thinking it because they’re “Heroes” and have their own names so idk if they’d all have their own squads or something.**
**Any help would be nice.**
I'm thinking of collecting blood angels (lamenters) and want to get to a good 2k spot to play in 11th, what do I need outside of these 3 boxes (the armadedon space marine half, the combat patrol and the sons of dorn box)
Terminator Chaplain
Sharing my recently based and finished custom Blood Angels terminator chaplain "insert name"!
He's been an joy to paint up, and I've just recently finished his plinth / base, he's been made up of the belial model and some 3D printed bits. I know I've posted him a fair bit while he was in his WIP stage but I just couldn't resit sharing him!
Idk if this breaks some obscure rule, but he was painted up to a charity raffle up over at "the_apothecarion" on Instagram, in the aid of cancer research, so he's gonna belong to someone else, as sad as that is to say haha!
I'd highly recommend using the belial mini as a conversion base, it's amazing!
Question: Death Company Marines
I know death company with jump packs is a murder blob at 10, especially with Lemartes or Astorath.
But, brothers of the blood, what has been your experience with normal DC marines (assault, not bolter). Should they be run in 10s? Invested with character and transport even? Or do 5 man squads with inferno pistol, hammer/fist, and eviscerator work well for trading, harassing, and screening? Or, in a world with Assault Intercessors and Scouts, do they have little use?
