The woman that wanted a new husband is married to the soba guy that caught the Shingi last year

The wife from episode two that wanted a new husband is married to the soba guy that caught the Shingi last year!! (This is episode four at the 18 minute mark). I thought this was hilarious. An unexpected hidden gem.

I also really like the concept of the festival (Hadaka Matsuri) because anyone that catches the Shingi must have:

* really wanted it (like the soba guy),
* approached it differently (like Ringo),
* or been really lucky.

And I like how the second best soba guy can resent being second but also appreciate compliments because of their infrequency and direct customers to the first best soba.

and yes, I hate how I can't take a normal screenshot on my phone and had to take a picture of my TV but what can you do.

I love Heiji Shindo and I'm so scared for season 2

They cut the episodes to only like 6 as far as I've heard. I feel like so much is gonna be cut. At first after Heiji died I wanted to see atleast one flashback in season 2 with him, whether it involves Fowler or a personal backstory. But lowkey after seeing the summary I have my doubts, I'm fearing he'll be forgotten just like that. He's my favorite it sucks so bad I'm serious

Day 100 of making a meme out of every line in Blue Eye Samurai Season 1 - 1st milestone in the triple digits. 100 days of plaguing this subreddit with my not so great sense of humour, and yet my motivation remains the same. Let's do this. Thanks for the support. Love you all.

Why was Mizu dressed as a woman before the engagement?

Why was Mizu dressed as a woman before the engagement? I was rewatching the series and noticed that even before her mother told her she had found her a husband, Mizu was already dressing like a woman. Even after refusing, she kept dressing that way And she's not supposed to, right?

My theory is that maybe she hadn’t washed her usual clothes (like when your washing machine breaks and you end up wearing your fancy clothes lol), or maybe she just felt like it. But seriously, I keep wondering why. I can’t find any explanation for it.

EDIT: Okay, I see a lot of people yelling at me that it's because she's a woman and that Mizu isn't trans, but that's not what the question was about. The scene is before her mother told her about the engagement, so they were still at her mother's house. They weren't at the farm yet, where it would have been safe to dress like that because no one would see her. I'm not asking why Mizu didn't arrive at the farm wearing a hat and pants, but why the woman who insisted on hiding her as a child, even when she didn't leave the house, now lets her walk around like that without any fear while they're still in a small town in plain sight.

S1:E1-S1:E8 Timeline

Hello! I don’t know if it’s ever been mentioned or figured out, but does anyone know how much time passes from when Mizu starts hunting Fowler in episode 1 all the way to the end of the season? It feels like the season happens over the course of a week or so just because that’s how it was animated (duh), but I have a fan fiction that takes place alongside the first season and it feels like my character’s relationship goes from 0-100 lol.

I know that in episode 3 where Taigen makes the contract with Mizu, he says duel me in 3 days and after the tea party he says I gotta kill you tomorrow. Mizu sustains so many injuries that all heal relatively quickly and scar, but from what I’ve learned it takes a few days to a week for something to scab and scar. Obviously I know it’s just a show and it’s fiction, but we also have to factor in that she’s walking everywhere. The first half of my story takes place over the course of a few weeks, but I also know that the season changes from winter to spring because of the spring matsuri before the attack on Edo.

I’m probably reading way too into this, but if anyone knows or could give a guesstimation on how long they think it actually takes Mizu to get from episode 1 to 8, let me know and all help is greatly appreciated! (And if anyone could tell me roughly where Kohama would be roughly located even though it’s a fictional village, that would be awesome too)

Day 95 of making a meme out of every line in Blue Eye Samurai Season 1 - I'm pretty much on this subreddit every day, so I wouldn't mind spending more time as a mod reviewing posts and all that jazz (if you guys need extra help of course).

Mizu AU fan art I made today!

Let me know what you think!
Still trying to improve my art so do you have some suggestions on what or who from BES I should draw next?

Wild Takayoshi theory

So I’ve watched BES probably 5 times in the last year. Today I’m watching the final episode after starting the series again in the last week.

Something about Takayoshi always stood out to me and I think it finally clicked today. I may be TOTALLY off base but here goes…

No other Japanese character in the show looks like him. His nose is very different from any other Japanese man. His voice is different as well. I know we don’t hear him talk much but I always found something about his voice which made me wonder why it hits so different.

If you look at Takayoshi, his rendering looks much more like a “westerner.” His facial features are much more similar to a caucasian man then they are to an east-Asian man. I hope this isn‘t racially insensitive as I know that within any ethnic group there is diversity. Obviously they could have just tried to make him stand out a bit more because he may play a bigger role on the show.

Since there is a theory that Mizu may be of the Shogun‘s family (either his wife had relations or was raped by one of the 4 white men, or my suspicion which is her mother was white and father is either the Shogun or other royal family member), I wonder if her and Takayoshi share a parent.

It may be a wild theory but I swear that no other Japanese character on the show looks like him. if you google his character, some of the shots of him look like a “white guy” .

What do you think? Any chance this is why he is treated as an outcast, and not because of his stammer? maybe the stammer is going to be a key clue as stammers are mainly genetic.
