New Driver bumper stickers
Why do I see so many of these stickers on vehicles driven by adults? I've noticed there are a disproportionate amount of vehicles being driven by people from the Jewish community that have Student Driver, New Driver, or so-and-so Driving School stickers. This morning I saw a minivan with Oregon plates and at least 4 faded yellowing stickers on the sides that said "New Driver - Please Be Patient". Since when did it take years and years to graduate from New driver to Average driver?
So what's the story?
No street parking in Boca?
Is it not legal to park in the street here in residential areas? I see cars parked in driveways that stick out and block the sidewalk, but I never see cars parked on the street. It doesn't make sense, unless there's some kind of law against parking in the street (and no law against blocking sidewalks...) What gives, Boca?
Garage Upgrade
I’m looking to put in new flooring, steel cabinets, lighting rework, remove ceiling knockdown and minor drywall repair.
Looking for recommendations. Would prefer turnkey but open to coordinating with subs.
Thanks

youtu.beLooking for custom cabinet maker recommendations in Boca raton who actually stick to their timeline and budget. Who did you use?
We are preparing for a major kitchen remodel in our Boca Raton house, but we keep hearing horror stories about contractors going thousands over budget and taking months longer than promised. We want high-quality custom cabinetry made for daily living, but finding a dependable craftsman who respects timelines feels like searching for a needle in a haystack.
What We Are Comparing
Process & Clarity: We saw Cabinet IQ highlighted for their guided design phase and precise project timelines, but we want to know if their Boca team delivers as promised.
Craftsmanship & Pricing: Are their custom cabinets worth the investment compared to local independent cabinet shops?
Real Timelines: Did your contractor complete everything on schedule without cutting corners?
Who built your custom cabinets in Boca Raton, how long did the project take, and would you recommend them?
Skyfin Asian Bistro?
I don’t use DoorDash and try not to support gig economy stuff for my own reasons but I was given a credit and saw the glowing reviews about SkyFin. I’m always hesitant to try new sushi spots but damn this was the biggest let down ever and my gut is suffering the next day. Salmon avocado cream cheese roll had no avocado, crab Rangoon was 99% cream cheese with way too sweet of sauce and the shumai like the rest of it was for… ants.
I was a huge fan of Boons for years for fast delivery but then their prices went sky high. Rise sushi is also great when dining in but looking for other west Boca recs from the crowd. Thanks Boca!

i recently moved into a room with a male landlord and when i did not reciprocate his advances he began setting odd boundaries and expecting me to tell him where i am at all times. need out asap.

Looking for similar Mole Verde recipe to Señor Burrito/Las Fajitas
So I grew up in Boca and the Mole Verde Burrito/Enchiladas from Señor Burrito (and Las Fajitas) is still one of my absolute favorite comfort meals. I found a few pictures online to point to the sauce that I’m talking about.
Has anyone possibly ever worked there or does anyone have a brain that can isolate recipe components who could possibly give me insight on what ingredients are in their specific sauce?
It seems possibly more herb based or pepita/sesame based vs. tomatillo heavy?
Any insight is really appreciated! But comments about your opinion on the quality of food literally couldn’t matter less. It is nostalgic, comfort food for me.
Moving from Europe to Boca Raton - what advice would you give us?
My family and I are planning to move from Hungary to South Florida in the next few months, and after visiting Boca Raton several times, we’ve decided that this is where we’d like to make our new home.
A little about us: I work in IT, mostly with AWS/cloud technologies, my wife is a child psychologist, and we have a 2-year-old daughter who is a U.S. citizen.
We’re planning to buy a home relatively soon, although we’re also considering renting for the first year so we have some time to get to know the area properly before deciding exactly where we want to settle.
But my question isn’t really about buying vs. renting. I’d love to hear any advice you would give to a family moving to Boca Raton from Europe.
What do you wish you had known before moving here? Are there particular neighborhoods you love (or would avoid)? Things about everyday life that aren’t obvious until you actually live here? Advice regarding daycare/preschool, schools, making friends, finding a community, healthcare, insurance, hurricanes, cars/traffic, local bureaucracy, or just Florida life in general?
We’ve spent time in Boca as visitors, but obviously living somewhere is completely different from visiting. We’re essentially moving our lives to the other side of the world, so even things that may seem completely obvious to locals might be useful to us. :)
We’re excited about the move and would genuinely appreciate any advice, recommendations, warnings, or random bits of local knowledge you think a newcomer should know.
Thanks in advance!
I miss Stir Crazy so much
Rats? Who?? Don't know her. Their food was so damn good that I truly don't even care. Choosing your vegetables and watching them stir fry it all up? Ugh 🤌🏻🤌🏻 My friend and I would always go there when we were in high school, so that place held memories, too. Just wanted to show a little love today.
Looking for an HONEST dentist for cleanings (and nothing else)
I’ve lived here for 15 years and have yet to find an honest dentist after my beloved dentist in Lake Worth retired. He was all about keeping your original teeth, no cosmetics. He didn’t push things or try to scare you with unnecessary procedures. He did not do Botox in his office or other shady practices. He was back to basics and a great dentist. I’m not looking for fancy, I’m looking for decent human being not looking to make a buck. I’m tempted to just travel back up north to do my dental work, but it would be nice to find someone locally for cleanings. Nothing but crooks here as far as I have seen.
Please help!
Spodak dental review.. be careful
"My experience at spodak was an absolute nightmare. During a procedure I paid two thousand dollars for, the dental assistant violently jammed a tiny mouth tray into my mouth, tearing my gum and leaving my bone exposed. This caused a severe infection and a raging fever, forcing me onto antibiotics and requiring emergency care. When I went back, the assistant looked at my mouth in shock and said, 'Oh my god, I've never seen anything like that,' referring to the bone protruding from my jaw. I had to wait two months to get a permanent tooth and endured so much anguish because of their mistake, and when I asked the office to refund both the two thousand dollars for the procedure and the two hundred dollars I paid for a second opinion, they refused. I wouldn't wish this on anyone."
MLS search question wrt pets
Aloha, Boca Reddit!
When we were househunting a couple of years ago, our realtor set up a search on the MLS where I could filter out neighborhoods that did not allow pets.
Now that our gigantic dog has passed, we're likely going to want to downsize, and I wanted to start making myself a map of neighborhoods to consider. But, since we aren't looking to buy right away, I didn't want to reach out to a realtor and waste their time.
Anyone know if there is a site that will allow you to do this on your own? Zillow/Redfin will allow you to search for pet-friendly rentals, but that isn't the same thing.
TIA!
Trim / Wainscoting
Hi all - looking to add some in my home in a few rooms. Anyone have a carpenter / handyman they would recommend that could get the job done with decent pricing. It’s skilled work for sure but for 3 days of skilled work some of the pricing I’ve received is nuts.
