Hi everyone,
I’ll be spending the entire month of June in Panglao, Bohol, and I'm planning to do underwater marine debris clean-ups during my fun dives around the major dive sites. I’m looking for fellow divers who might be around and want to team up to give back to the ocean!
A quick background: I’m a certified dive instructor, but for this trip, I’ll be visiting purely as a regular guest/customer. I’ve decided to base my diving out of Amigo Dive. They are actually quite famous among the Korean dive shops in Bohol for having spotless accommodations and serving amazing Korean food! But more importantly, their corporate name is "1.5°C" (a nod to the global warming threshold). That really highlights their genuine interest in environmental issues, which perfectly aligns with what I want to do.
My plan is to pitch this initiative to the shop as a guest and ask if they'd be willing to support us by providing sacks/mesh bags and gloves for the trash we collect. Also, if we manage to get a decent-sized group together, I plan on reaching out to the Panglao Coast Guard to request their cooperation and support to make this a bigger, safer effort!
Never done a clean-up dive before? No worries at all! If it’s your first time picking up trash underwater, I’d be more than happy to help. Since I am an instructor, I can guide you through the essential safety precautions and assist you from a Specialty perspective—like how to manage your buoyancy while carrying a bag, or how to safely remove tangled debris without harming the local marine life.

Started as passion project, not really a mobile developer but ended creating one. Project started 4th week of January giving 30mins - 1 hour a day progress. Learned everything from scratch and forced to expedite the project because of the ongoing fuel crisis.
This is now what it looks like 1 month after going live.
It has massive support in some areas of the Philippines and is sustainable but it is struggling to retain users on areas that has no data yet 😞
Features ⛽:

➡️Usually requires 2-3 exact same reports to be verified but for now in the early stage, disabled muna.
➡️Distance constraints: User can only update a fuel station's price when it is near to that area by approximately 3km. Some users take pictures and update the prices later when on when they are on full stop driving.
➡️Price guard, only accepts values near the current market price average per fuel type Price photo capture, works only on mobile app using ML kit as tesseract.js for browser seems insufficient.
✅ Dynamic station indicators
➡️Green: Prices were updated on the current week's fuel price adjustments
➡️Red: Prices were not updated after the week's price adjustments
➡️Gray: Stale, no fuel price info yet. No DOE prices as this creates user expectation when in reality, the actual fuel price is not close to the DOE's. P.S. Fuel stations can set their own fuel prices higher or lower than DOE's.

Went diving there on May 17 at Napaling Reef. I thought my bag was safe because all the other divers left their belongings on the tables. To be sure, this is how I secured my belongings: wrapped my phone and wallet in a garbage bag, put said garbage bag in my bag, covered my bag with my towel hoodie, placed that in a chair with other divers’ belongings.
When my dive buddy and I left the cafe to go eat lunch back in Alona, upon opening my wallet I discovered that all my cash was gone. Nothing left, not even P100. I have been messaging the cafe but no response at all.
