Does is matter what gen you secondary amp is when in stereo setup?

I'm debating buying a second katana to run in stereo with my MK2 and I have a couple questions.

If I'm running another amp in stereo, does it matter if it's an MK1? Is there any advantage to a newer model if I already like the sound I'm getting in mono?

I also want to run a stereo effect loop from my HX Effects pedal. Seems pretty straightforward to run the left and right to their respective amps. Curious if there is anything that might prevent that from working. I want to make sure before commiting to a second amp

Katana Eq

Hi all , I’ve had a katana for a couple months now . Im getting great tones with my strat however when using my Epi Les Paul I just can’t seem to get a tone I’m happy with.

Either sounds extremely muddy or too bright , I’ve tried dialling in my own tones and using tone studio however I’m still not overly happy with the results .

I saw some chat online about fiddling around with the EQ but being a relatively newbie I’m not sure what I’m actually doing . Can anyone recommend how to set my Eq? For reference it’s the Gen3 50 I have and the pickups on the Epiphone are probuckers .

Sorry if this is a stupid question but is there a pedal I could use to switch between the channels?

performing at a talent show with my friends and I need to switch smoothly between my tone settings

Boss ME-90 with Katana 50 or Headrush Go?

Thinking of purchasing the Me90 for a more tactile experience. Can’t find out much about how well it works with a katana 50 which I currently own. Would a Headrush Go be a better option that the katana? Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Help please

I recently bought a katana 50 and when I turn it on the only effects available are mod, delay, vibration, and reverb. The issue is that booster and fx won’t do anything. Is my amp broken or is this an way fix (still new to this stuff)

OK gotta weird question for y’all re:Katana MKIII 50 watt and my dog

Does anyone else’s dog react to their Katana with fear? Any time I turn on my Katana with the exception of while wearing headphones my dog gets terrified and pees herself on the spot. This same dog has never had any similar reactions to any of other amps (a Mesa 5:50 & Fender Rumble 100). It does not matter what tone is dialed into the Katana or the volume. I’ve tried it at barely loud enough to hear, clean tone, zero effects enabled with the treble all the way down in case it was a response to some sort of perceived shrill tone she had. She’s been completely fine being in the room with my other amps, even when they’re being pushed pretty hard. Does anyone have any clue why my Katana and furry tyrant don’t get along? Photo added to post for dog tax.

MK2 50 Owner: How I got over the boxiness

Never occured me to use a Vox flavoured drive into the Katana, in an odd way it works with the boxy nature of gain in the MK2 50.

Of course your tastes and experiences may vary but yeah, something to think about, nearly sold it then tried the pedal, and damn.....it's great tone.

Accidental Purchase

This is not a post to rage bait anyone. Just sharing my experience.

I had the MK2 for a couple of years. Bought a code50 simply because I was getting a very sweet deal. Got to say - I am impressed. The controls of the Katana are definitely better than the Marshall. The katana is much easier to use , edit & and tweak. Specially with the tone studio.

However, over the past year, I started feeling that the sound of the Katana was very synthetic and plastic-ey. I’m genuinely surprised by how much better the Marshall sounds compared to the boss. Wish the controls were as well laid out as the katana.

From reading reviews online - I thought the Marshall will be crap and it will just sit around and collect dust. But I am genuinely considering selling my Katana now

How does everyone else feel about the code?

Boss Katana USB ground loop noise

Hi, I get severe ground loop buzz whenever my Boss Katana is connected to my PC via USB.
Are there any USB isolators that actually work with the Katana for data and audio, and which one would be the best choice?
Thanks

Bying an mkIII 50W

Hello beautiful people. I've made the decision to buy an mkIII. Anything important I should know? Should I buy anything else to pair with it? I've also seen many people here complaining about their tone but there is always a fix. But why is the tone a problem sto often? Until now I owned just a Line 6 IV and never had tone issues.

Sounds good at home, not at band practice?

I have been really happy with my Katana 100 Gen3 at home, sounds great in 0.5 watt mode, and also very nice when I wear headphones which I often do...

I have now been practicing with some other people for 4 sessions now and I just cannot figure out where I am going wrong, initially I thought I could confidently just switch to 100 watt mode and it would blast, but that was far too loud & shrill.

I have since been using 50 watt mode. The master volume is very sensitive which is not the end of the world but it sounds so much thinner at practice with very little if any bass to speak of (possibly because the master is so low)?

Am I just expecting way too much from a single 1x12 in this situation? I feel like the speaker could absolutely push much more air if it wanted to but I would need to turn the mids and terrible basically off?

Surely I must be missing something as I thought the point of the power modes with a solid state amp was to give me quite a linear response across lots of different volumes?

Using an expression pedal for wah

I've struggled a bit to use an expression pedal with the katana to emulate a wah pedal. I'm curious what other people do. What wah effect do you use? What do you assign the pedal to do (volume, depth, etc.)? Where do you put the wah in your signal chain?

I'm using a mk2 50 watt so I don't have an FX loop.

Clueless Parent

We bought our daughter an acoustic guitar for her Christmas last year and she’s done really well teaching herself since. So we decided to buy her an electric guitar for Christmas this year. It’s bought, hidden away for the day. She’s done some research and I’ve done a bit and we’ve settled one the Boss Katana 50. We can’t really afford anything more than that. My question is, and I know this will sound ridiculous but will it come with the cable that connects the guitar to the amp? Or do we need to buy that separately?

Thanks in advance, I feel totally daft asking this. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Katana Mk1 as Power amp?

I have a Mk1, and have been thinking about getting a Valeton GP50. I would love to use the amp sims, but since the Mk1 doesn't really have a normal "Power Amp" in, I was wondering if there's any way to use it just as a power amp, maybe with the Aux In or with a "neutral" setting on the preamp or TS.

Edit: forgot to mention I have the 50W

Katana Bass 210 - Keeping it on the 1w setting for apartment use?

Just curious... been thinking of replacing my old Ampeg BA110v2 with a Boss Katana Bass amp; and I had been leaning towards getting the 110 model.

However a local music shop has a used Katana Bass 210 in excellent condition, and priced less then a brand new Katana Bass 110...

But, I'm also in a small apartment, with neighbors... and lower volumes, which my little Ampeg sounds rather crappy at, are usually best... and the Katana's 1w feature sounds pretty useful to me... as I dont do live stuff... I dont play in a band... I just sit and home and pluck my strings and do my own thing. I've got a few decent pedals; a Markbass Compressore, and an old DD-3, a TC Corona Chorus, as well as TC flanger and overdrive pedals and a couple cheap Beheringer pedals... figure getting a Katana Bass Amp would let me reduce some of my pedals, and still sound good at lower volume.

So is it worth getting the 210 and keeping it on its 1w setting for quiet home practice use, if you're likely never going to crank it any louder; or would I be better off with the 110?

7 string metal tone - full song demo

I've made a dropbox link to download the liveset. It contains the patch I used for this, plus a solo and clean tone I haven't used in this recording. Please check it out if you're interested, and let me know what you think!

Edit: This was based on Fishman Fluence Modern pickups and the IR provided in the Katana 100 Gen 3. Your pickups may be different so a few minor EQ tweaks might be needed as with any online patch.

Cant achieve Death / slam tone

Guitar : epiphone les paul model
Standard strings and pickups
Standard tuning with the big string tuned to a B

Boss katana 100
No plugins active
Metal muff (on standby)

  1. Brown channel
  2. Gain (middle)
  3. Volume (past middle)
  4. Bass (middle)
  5. Treble (past middle)
  6. Boost (activated , past middle)
  7. Presence (middle)

I have tried :

  1. Changing pickup height (increasing)
  2. Playing with the Eq , scooping mids (seems to make it worse)
  3. Changing guitar tuning
  4. Currently at the heaviest it will sound even when the pedal is activated .

Frustrated . My goal is to get an agressive biting chug sound thats it!

Connecting stomp boxes

Hi, I have the Katana 100 MKII and I also have the GA-FC foot controller.

I have some older stomp boxes like the boss super over drive and boss chorus but I can't figure out how to connect everything together.

Any advice? Many thanks
