Would you actually want the Bruins to pay the price for Alexander Nikishin?

I've been looking more closely at the Nikishin situation and I'm curious where Bruins fans land on this.

The player fit seems pretty obvious to me. He's 24 and could potentially be part of the blue line for years rather than being another short-term acquisition.

The issue is price.

I put together an original trade-value score and also calculated what Boston's cap situation could look like under several possible Nikishin contract numbers.

My conclusion is that I'd absolutely explore it, but I wouldn't pay as though Nikishin has already become a No. 1 defenseman.

What would you actually be comfortable giving Carolina?

What are we thinking about Neely's recent statements?

Post from @ marcussi._ on Instagram, if anyone wishes to see the comment section there.

His full statement that followed this quote:

"We’ve been blessed to have great captains here. From [Ray] Bourque, [Zdeno] Chara, [Patrice] Bergeron. We like leaders, not followers. So you can hopefully have 20 leaders. That’s the one thing that we look at: who is going to help lead the team? Maybe it’s more of a tradition in hockey where you have a letter on your sweater. Don [Sweeney], Marco, and I are going to sit down shortly to talk about that."

[RotoWire] NHL’s Most Aggressive Teams in 2025-26: Full Hits and Fights Ranking

Saw a study ranking all 32 teams by total hits and total fights, averaged into one number. We came in 3rd at an average rank of 6, behind only Boston and Philly.

So the back-to-back champs played exactly like back-to-back champs are supposed to play, physically, and then missed the postseason entirely in an injury-wrecked year. That's the whole season in one line.

I don't think the identity is broken. When healthy this is still the most miserable team in the league to play sixty minutes against, and the numbers say we kept playing that way even as the roster got shredded. You don't finish 3rd in hits and fights by mailing it in.

But the rest of it is a gut punch. Four of the nine most physical teams missed the playoffs and we were one of them. Carolina won the Cup ranked 27th out of 32 in aggression. Colorado ranked dead last and made the conference final.

Get healthy and this is a non-story next year. Get healthy.

Boston Bruins are No. 20 in NHL Pipeline Rankings for 2026

3. Matt Poitras, C

March 10, 2004 | 6-foot-0 | 189 pounds | Shoots right

Drafted: No. 54 in 2022
Tier: NHL prospect

Skating: Below NHL average
Puck skills: NHL average
Hockey sense: Above NHL average
Compete: Above NHL average
Shot: Below NHL average

Analysis: Poitras is very skilled and intelligent. He makes a lot of difficult plays with the puck and can run a pro power play. He can create off the edge, while also showing no fear to attack the inside despite his 6-foot frame. Poitras doesn’t have the typical athleticism of an NHL forward, though. On top of his frame, he lacks NHL foot speed and isn’t overly physical. He has played NHL games and has NHL-caliber skill, but seems more like a depth forward without adding any more elements to his game.

How did Goalie Bob end up in Boston?

Just curious here in the offseason, as I was looking at goalie Bobs HockeyDB and noticed that he had no ties to the organization as a player and was wondering, basically how he ended up in Boston way back when we still had Thornton and Sturm was still playing.
