What if Zeppelin Replaced Bonham?

This is not in any way meant to disrespect Bonzo as a human being or a musician.

However there are examples of bands replacing key members (alive or passed) and experiencing success after.

What if they found the right guy? Would you have been on board?

What Year Would You Have Changed

You get to pick one more cup: 2013, 2019, or 2023

For me, it’s 2023 hands down. 2013 really doesn’t bother me. It was Chicago’s cup to lose and people tend to forget, it wasn’t a full regular season. This devalues the cup for me.

2019 hurts, but to have won in 2023 would have cemented the bruins as having the undisputed greatest hockey team of all time. I still can’t wrap my head around that first round. It was like a breakup. And then the way all the deadline pickups fled and bergy/krejci retiring just gave the team a depressing look the next year.

Good Learning Material for Tone

Hi all,

I’ll try to keep it quick: I’ve always been a plug-and-play player. Never really wanted to get caught up in tone chasing besides a foot switch for OD and Reverb and my tone knobs.

I’ve been playing in a cover band that has very eclectic sets (Glen Campbell to Van Halen back to back, stuff like that). I’ve since made the realization that I need to start caring about tone, EQ, etc. as well as that tone in your music room does NOT sound the same playing live.

Can anyone recommend any materials (websites, YouTube, books etc.) that provides a crash course in tone? The simplest things like bass, mids, treble - all the way to funny bloop fx. Do’s and Dont’s (never stack this in front of that, etc) fundamental need to knows, all stuff like that.

Or if you can relate, how you went about learning all this. I just want to play, but I now feel like you have to be decently schooled in all this if you want to be a quality player.

Thanks.

Why Would Big Palps Not Give Him a Bath First?

The Big P wasted no time throwing Anakin up on that table. Imagine having that stuffy ass suit applied on you and just pressing a bunch of ash and dirt into your open wounds. Hell, he still has tatters of his old robes stuck to him. That suit must’ve STUNK the first time he removed it.

What Popular Beatles Song Doesn’t Resonate With You?

Don’t rip each other apart!! These will all be inherently hot takes since I’m asking specifically about songs that are highly regarded. As big of fans as everyone in this sub is, I’m sure not everyone likes ALL of their songs.

I think it’s an interesting question: as a fan, what pieces from the greatest musical act of all time actually don’t hit for you?

Mine would be:

While My Guitar Gently Weeps: I understand the hype completely. Lyrics and chord progression are great, but it just doesn’t hit too hard for me. Sorry George fans.

Ob La Di Ob La Da: I don’t dislike the song, but the version from Anthology 3 (Take 5) is SO much better. I prefer it without the bouncy bass line.

Ten Years Gone Under Appreciated

I’ll never understand how this song did not reach Stairway or Kashmir level popularity. I personally consider it one of the greatest songs ever written.

My only possible explanation is that to appreciate the song fully, I feel like you need to really be attentive to how it layers itself. For that reason, it may not have as big of an appeal to casual listeners as do some of their other popular songs.

What Song Improved Your Skills the Most

In other words, what song gave you the most bang for your buck and provided you with the biggest set of transferable skills? No judgment. Any genre/style, any skill level. Could be neon or teen spirit.

When I thought about this, I consistently thought back to the cliche, Guitar Shop songs that took me from very beginner to early intermediate. Stairway, Free Bird, Hotel Cali. They earned those roles as cliche songs for a reason I guess. But the technical and intangible skills I learned from those set a foundation. I still go back to them every now and then.

Edit: and what skills/insights did they provide you with?

If Shane Lived Longer

Obviously the group goes through so much after Shane’s departure. But what would you be most excited to see if he were still alive? What stories did you want to see him a part of? What characters would you be excited from him to interact with? Etc. For me, it would have been amazing to see his reaction once Rick makes the realization that he was right about the world. I would also love to see him interact with other alphas like Negan and Abraham. Another interesting plot point would be how he treats the Alexandrians in the groups/Ricks initial attempts to harden them and prepare them for the world. So many good stories/moments that would be enhanced by Shane.

DHS Career Expo

Just registered for the DHS career expo in Jacksonville. Can anyone provide some info on this as to whether it’s worthwhile? Not a federal employee - looking into investigative roles and/or 1811. Thanks
