8 months loc’d! How we doing?

Loving the journey so far. I started and self maintain and think I’m doing pretty good. I’m loving the style! How’s it looking for far?

2 weeks later and I think I like my boho braids even MORE now 😭

First few pics are 2 weeks after my install, and the last picture is Day 1. I honestly think this has become my favorite hairstyle I’ve ever had 👏🏾😩

I loved the hair when I first got it done, but I actually like it even more now. It’s gotten easier for me to work with, and every time I moisturize it, it gets bigger and fluffier, which makes it look and feel even more like natural hair to me.

I was curious about how the curls would hold up over time, but two weeks in, I really love how they’re aging. I actually prefer how full they look now compared to Day 1.

I’m excited to see how they continue to look over the next few weeks!

2.5 years. Best decision I ever made

I had struggled over the decision to get micro locs. I was afraid I'd get tired of them and regret it. But I'm so happy that I took the plunge. In the end, I went home to the Caribbean for 2 weeks and got it done (so much cheaper). I wanted to interlock from the start since I have 3 different textures of hair and I know the back would not stay at all with twists or braids. 17 hours and worth it. So happy with my progress and I've loved them from day 1. I also love the fact that my ends are still curly. I hope they stay that way.

“Hair Like Mine” | President Obama, 2009

The photograph is titled “Hair Like Mine” taken in 2009.

While visiting the Oval Office with his dad, former National Security Council staffer Carlton Philadelphia in 2009, five-year-old Jacob Philadelphia surprised then President Barack Obama with a single question: "Is your hair like mine?"

Obama, standing by the Oval Office, responded by bowing over, so Jacob could hold his hand outstretched and feel for himself.

"Go ahead, touch it," the then-president said at the time.

I am a natural hair GIRL, but I get tired. My lace game SUCKS but this wig was $50.

I can't choose between leaving my locs the color they are or try dyeing them red again?

I've tried to dye them red before but the shade wasn't bright enough on my dark brown hair. The tips only cooperated because they were already a light brown lol. And I don't want to bleach my hair! 😫 Any hair dye recommendations?

Advice Needed

Hey everyone! Quick question for you all. 💖

I’m looking into getting Fulani braids with a sew in and was quoted $290. I wanted to check in and see if you all think that’s a bit much for this service, or if that’s pretty standard right now?

I’m honestly just trying to be mindful in this economy and make sure I’m not accidentally getting overcharged! 😅
Let me know your thoughts—I'd love to hear what you usually pay or what you think is fair. Thank you so much! ✨
