AC bracket for Brownstone

Anyone here have an AC bracket they have used on their classic Brownstone?

Recently got a Midea U model that came with a bracket but because of the thick ledge the bracket doesn't work/fit properly.

Replacing an ancient/less efficient standard AC unit that didn't have a bracket--request from landlord to use a bracket for insurance reasons. (Which I get.)

Hot tips?

Maspeth Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table

I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual after I started putting stuff outside that my family did not want anymore and we couldn't sell on the Marketplace. I noticed the items would disappear and my neighbors would bring items to replace them. My friend who helps shut ins in Glendale brings over whatever food she has left and leaves that on the table for people to take who visit my mutual aid table.

Thursday August 6th, I received 6 deliveries of donations (clothes, food, toys, housewares, books, DVDs). By Saturday August 8th the table is empty.

Items that are in high demand:

FOOD FOR PEOPLE OR PETS

CLOTHES

TOILETRIES

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

DIAPERS FOR BABIES & ADULTS

TOYS

BACK PACKS, LUNCH BOXES & POCKET BOOKS

Books really don't go on my table, so when I get a donation of them I wait a few days then I bring them down to the Little Free Library in PS 153's school yard.

Donations can be dropped off, and you can take what you need 24 hours a day & 7 days a week:

5938 60TH ROAD, MASPETH

Donations can be dropped off at certain businesses during business hours. Just label them Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table.

ASSEMBLYMAN STEVEN RAGA'S OFFICE, 60-14 QUEENS BLVD., CELLAR, WOODSIDE

COOK'S ARTS & CRAFTS SHOPPE, 80-09 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE

SCHWILLE-D'ANGELO FUNERAL HOME, 66-32 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE

STATE SENATOR JOSEPH ADDABBO'S OFFICE, 66-85 73RD PLACE, MIDDLE VILLAGE

HARISCH STUDIOS, 57-44 MYRTLE AVE., 2ND FLOOR, RIDGEWOOD

For people who cannot donate in person I created an Amazon Wishlist:

https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JY7U8QQZ8BBU?REF\_=wl\_share

Thank you for all donations. And if you are near the Maspeth/Ridgewood border and are in need please check out table and take what you need. No questions asked. Please spread the word. Thanks.

Anyone buried in bus parking violations?

I have received multiple thousands of dollars of bus violations in the mail over the past few weeks from violations April/May. Given the gap between violation and issuance, there are many more likely to come in June and July.

Our usual street spot extended a couple feet into a bus lane so when automatic ticketing went into effect we have been getting hammered.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Seeking advice on if anyone has successfully fought these before.

Ultimately it is irrelevant to the law but we did not impede any buses in any way, so this level of punishment is hard to stomach. I have no qualms with the city protecting busses but none of this feels commensurate.

Any experiences or advice here would be appreciated.

What are you guys favorite places to get froyo?

Yes I am referring to frozen yogurt as I apologize if such a topic was done here before recently since I was in the mood for some rich tasting yogurt.

I would like to use Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn as an example because I was just walking around Manhattan Beach doing power walks as I suddenly became interested in looking for places in the area that have good frozen yogurt available because I am looking for places that have a variety of flavors available to choose from.

How doable is commuting from Bay Ridge (86th St R) to Red Hook daily?

Hello Everyone! I’m moving to Brooklyn soon from out of state and got a job near Van Brunt St in Red Hook. Considering an apartment in Bay Ridge near the 86th St R station and planning to commute. Google says door to door is around 50-55 mins.

Two options I see: R to B61, or R to G then walk ~20 min. Is the B61 actually reliable? Is this commute doable day to day?

Any tips welcome!

Edit: Thank you so much guys for all your suggestions!! I will definitely look into city biking!

Starting or joining a casual Sunday night film club

Hi! I used to be part of a weekly film club where we'd watch a film out at a theatre, or someone's apartment if there was space and they felt comfortable hosting. I really miss the routine, and also have wanted to do it frequently Sunday nights to fight the Sunday scaries.

Does anyone know of any existing Sunday film clubs, or is interested in starting one together?

If starting, am thinking we would start with a few at a theatre in Brooklyn (we can choose once we have a critical mass and know everyone's commute), and maybe get a few drinks after if we are vibing.

Looking for interior decorating services recommendation

Now before you tell me to just Google it, the situation is somewhat unique so I was hoping for personal recommendations. A family member of mine is moving to a new apartment near Brooklyn College. They are partially disabled (physically and mentally) and need assistance with furnishing the apartment. This would include taking measurements and assisting with set up/placement once delivered. They can work with you directly to pick options (within a budget we provide). This isn’t a huge or high end job, but willing to pay appropriately for someone who can take this on.

I live across the country and am expecting a baby any minute, so unfortunately can’t fly to help them with this. If there are any companies you can recommend I would love to hear. Thank you.

Lifetime vs. Chelsea piers

Looking to join either Lifetime on Atlantic (Prospect heights) or Chelsea piers in downtown Brooklyn. I used to be an equinox member, so ideally something that has the same amenities and vibe.

I am also interested in using the childcare option for my 3 month old every once in a while.

Looking for anyone who has experience with either facility or better yet both. Thank you!

Living close to Barclays

I am considering a place very close to Barclays’ center. I love the apartment and I like that it’s close to the park. I noticed there a a lot of recommendations for 20-somethings to live in the ft Greene area. I’m 40f who loves wine bars, books, coffee shops and I tend to lean fairly social. Is this neighborhood a decent option for someone like me?

The place I’m looking at is technically in the Boreum Hill side of the area (off a quiet side street).

Thanks all!

Edit: I’m overwhelmed by the responses. I’m definitely moving there now! What a great community. Thank you, all!

Want to skate at Prospect Park but not sure if my skate wheels are appropriate

I’m new to roller skating and have 98A wheels. I’ve only ever skated on wooden, indoor floors.

How’s the surface there? Will I ruin my wheels or should I just rent a pair of theirs? Thanks!

Full panel STD testing?

Please save the judgment. I found out my (now) ex is sleeping with a prostitute massage therapist and I need FULL panel testing asap. I have insurance, but I don't mind paying out of pocket. I googled some, but I feel like I found some scammy ads.

Am I going to be bored living in crown heights?

Title. I’m 27 and queer. Big into music and making music. Moved to Bushwick 2 months ago and absolutely love it. I’m on knickerbocker and DeKalb and it’s just the heart of a lot of stuff. So many clubs to I can go dancing whenever I want and I don’t even have to commit to long commutes. 5-20 minute walks and I’m there. I love going to jams. I like being at Maria Hernandez. I like that my gym and laundry are both 3 minute walks. I love all the food around me. I love that I’m 5 minutes from the L and M. I love dancing and going out. Dancing is therapeutic for me. I like playing pool and meeting people. I don’t even drink or do drugs.

Will I be bored if I live off New York ave and Atlantic ave? In crown heights. I walked by last night and it just didn’t feel like where I’m at currently and I’m afraid I won’t like it. That being said the people I’d live with there seem super amazing and want to community build.

I want friends. I want community. I want to be around arts and music.

I need to do some searching inside myself but I’d also appreciate any input.

Anybody know where to score some estradiol?

I need estradiol patches. I've got a prescription but my pharmacy has been spotty on stocking them for weeks now (nationwide estradiol shortage). Does anybody know of a pharmacy, ideally in BK but at this point I'll go anywhere in NYC, that currently has the patches in stock?
