Bolt hole threads stripped

Laid my '05 xb12scg on a rural az mountain road when a truck pulling a trailer was coming at me 3/4's in my lane on a blind curve. Needless to say I finally have a chance to rebuild her.

When I laid it down, it snapped my shift linkage etc and stripped the bolt under where the clutch cable enters the primary. In a quick fix to get it home, I rigged up a couple wrenches for my linkage and put a dab of jb welded to hold this bolt in question in. It worked and the jb weld isn't in the threads.

Obviously the bolt threads being stripped is an issue tho.

My question is can I tap the hole and step up a bolt size? Or any other options you all might have I'd appreciate greatly

" edit - I mentioned below but it's been heli'd previously by the former owner or when I sent the case in to have the clutch ramp fixed

62 mile sale

Have a 09 1125R with 62 original miles I’m looking to sell. Planning on listing with a auction but thought I would check in and see if anyone is interested. Asking 14k cash, yes I’m aware that’s a lot of money but not many chances of owning a new 1125R. Located in Weatherford Tx.

Help with fitting ID?

Repairing my XB12SS primary engine case that the chain adjuster pulled the threads on. Found these pictures on an ancient forum post describing their fix, with no part numbers or description besides "gas fitting".

Threads being repaired are 1/2-13, which will need to be the internal threads there, external thread size/pitch are not super important as I can drill the case to accommodate.

Any ideas where I could find something like this? Internet searches and mcmaster have so far turned up nothing.

New Exhaust ?

I have a stock exhaust that’s bent out of shape, i plan to give bending it back into place a shot but I’m wondering if there are any aftermarket ones I should give a shot. Any ideas? Not asking for mechanical advice, just if anyone knows of any good aftermarket exhausts.

Looking at buying a 2003 xb12

Looking at a 2003 with roughly 20k miles. Miles don’t scare me but is there anything to look for on the older bikes? I’ve seen people mention the oil pumps on the older bikes being a worse design, and the fuel pumps also being an issue. But is there anything else to watch out for engine wise?

Ulysses part availability?

I’m looking at a 2008 Ulysses with ~ 40k miles. Looks like it’s in good shape but it’s been sitting for 2 years.

What’s the part situation like? How reliable are the xb12 engines?

I built up a 06 sportster engine already so I know the ins and outs of the evo engines but I know xb12 engines have differences.

Thinking of buying a Buell. Recommendations?

I have a 1974 Honda CB360T as a fun little around town bike. And a 2024 Kawasaki Z500 that was my learning bike. I’m starting to get tired of the Z500 and looking for something with more character and speed.

I see a lot of Buell XB9s and XB12s in the $4-$6K range. Significantly cheaper than most Japanese 600 cc bikes and the Buell generally have significantly less miles. I know the Buell have some electrical issues and gremlins. But I love Eric Buell’s story, and I think the bikes are so unique and cool, albeit kind of funky looking.

My main question is what are the differences between the XB9 and the XB12? And which should I buy or another Buell?
