Similarities:

• FL was previously engaged to a relative of ML. 
• ML proposed to FL a contract marriage.
• There were people trying to smear FL’s reputation at her workplace.

Comparison:

• Romance: While ML aggressively pursued FL in both adaptations, the romance in Version 2 felt notably one-sided. The FL showed little interest in building either a romantic connection or a strategic alliance. In contrast, Version 1’s FL and ML had a far more dynamic relationship. A standout moment occured when she catched both ML and myself off guard by accepting his marriage proposal. I loved the scene where she sat on his lap and embraced him while he was in total disbelief.
• Acting: I have always believed that on-screen chemistry is a byproduct of great acting, and the chemistry between Cao Sai Ya and Li Zhuo Yang in Version 1 was palpable. Every interaction radiated warmth, even during simple conversations, thanks to their easy camaraderie and intense eye contact. Unfortunately, Ma Le Jie and Cheng Yu Feng in Version 2 lacked a connection. Their scenes felt flat and uninspired, more like them simply reciting lines.
• Storytelling: I appreciated how Version 1 balanced professional life and romance. FL was far from a doormat, standing her ground against abusive patients, while ML was ruthless toward anyone who crossed him. Conversely, Version 2 dedicated significantly more screen time to the FL’s career, offering a deeper look at her vulnerability when dealing with a challenging case. While I valued this extra layer of character development, that workplace conflict was left unresolved and I was disappointed with the abrupt ending.

My final thoughts:

• Both dramas are good one-time watches and out of the two, Thinking of Her wins hands down. The chemistry between the leads is noticeably stronger, and it strikes a much better balance between their careers and romance.  
• I really love Cheng Yu Feng’s visuals in modern romance short dramas, but I have yet to see him paired with a strong female co-star. If you have any recommendations where his co-star matches his presence, please share in the comments below.

Heart rate: Normal.
His jawline: Not normal. Structurally concerning. Requires further study.

Wait. Focus.

  GENERAL APPEARANCE:

Patient is a well-nourished male in no acute distress. Patient is alert, oriented, and smiling in a way that is frankly inappropriate for a clinical setting. Patient's smile causes measurable increase in MY heart rate, which is not how this is supposed to work.

Note to self: he is the patient. You are the doctor. Behave.

  CARDIOVASCULAR:

Listened to patient's heart. It was fine. Mine was not. Recommend follow-up. With me. Alone. In a non-medical capacity.

STRIKE THAT FROM THE RECORD.

  MUSCULOSKELETAL:

Patient demonstrates full range of motion. Also demonstrates abdominal musculature that I observed ACCIDENTALLY when he reached for something and his shirt rode up and I had to sit down.

This is a normal medical observation. I am a professional. I have seen many torsos. His is fine. His is MORE than fine. His is a clinical anomaly.

Moving on.

  HEENT (Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, Throat):

Eyes: Brown. Devastating. Made direct eye contact and I forgot the next three items on my checklist.
Lips: Not medically relevant. Thought about them anyway.
Throat: Fine, presumably. Was too distracted to check.

  ASSESSMENT:

Patient is in perfect health. I, however, have developed an acute condition characterized by elevated heart rate, distraction, and an inability to remember he is a client and not a crush.

  PLAN:

1. Continue "family doctor" duties.
2. Absolutely do not fall for the client.
3. (Already failing at #2.)
4. Shove cake in the green tea bitch's mouth if provoked. (Non-medical. Deeply satisfying. Would prescribe again.)
