New to hunting but not to firearms.

I've done the online portion but there's only 2 free state field day classes listed and they're both full. Does anyone know if there's any paid alternatives or if you can take any other state's class? I have a pistol permit but have never had a hunting license in any state.

Key text is this:

>No hunting or trapping licenses will be issued to any person unless proof is provided that they have held a RESIDENT license in the respective discipline within the last 5 years OR the person has a certificate indicating successful completion of a Connecticut Conservation Education/Firearms Safety (CE/FS) course (or recognized equivalent) in the respective discipline for which they are applying. 

What would count as a recognized equivalent, I cannot find that information on the DEEP site?
