r/Cadets

I've rewriten this a few times, im not sure why redits filters keep taking it down.

anyway hello,

im joining army cadets and am 14, almost 15. im nervous for my first day which is this Tuesday.

I know that you dont get your uniform right away, and i was wondering what i should wear in the mean time. Is T-shirt and jeans ok?

second is there anything i should know before going, i've read the handbook already. Is there anything i should bring? Water i assume. Should i bring a small bag with me ?

Thank you so much for answering my questions, have a great day.

I’m a cadet in Quebec, and we recently got a new Captain transferred in from another squadron. Right away, he claimed our unit had a bad reputation for being "ghetto" and began cracking down on everyday vocabulary banning words like guys, check, and other common informal terms or anglicisms.

The problem is that several of us in the squadron are primarily Anglophone. During our last training night, I spoke in English, and an officer reprimanded me harshly, saying my position as Flag Party Commander is at risk if I keep doing it.

As far as I know, the Cadet program operates under Canadian official language policies. Can an officer actually penalize cadets or strip parade positions for speaking English in a Quebec corps/squadron? How should I handle this?

Our WO1 wants all flights to have a team cheer but I just can't seem to get any ideas. I'm obviously going to ask the cadets in the flight if they have any ideas, but I want to know if anyone here happens to have any recommendations?

Did summer training in July at Blackdown for ITDC. Everyone on my course got their pay except me :/

Yes, I submitted all my banking info and paperwork before the course, so that shouldn’t be the issue.

I’ve heard pay can be delayed, but it’s been a while now. Does anyone know who I’m supposed to contact about this? My squadron? The CTC

Correction : I meant training bonus, apologies.

I've recently joined Army Cadets, I want to get to know more about it and receive advice on ranking up, turns, and all the fundamentals of Cadets. I live in Halton Region, Ontario and am excited for future trips/camps! Someone please tell me how long it takes to recieve your FTU and DEU uniforms and what are included. Thanks!
