Calamity has the most unprofessional dev team I've ever seen

Disclaimer: To the moderators reading this... This post is intended as criticism; not blame other people or 'How could you have trusted that person!!!' type post. Mistakes can be happen, but there are far big issues.

Calamity is an extremely large and well-known mod everybody knows that. But why the hell dev team managing this whole project as like a school project? The most important rule I’ve ever seen in my life is this: if money is involved, no matter what the topic, project is, things always handled professionally and seriously.

Before anyone comes along and says 'This is a labor of love!' and 'This a passion project!', no, you people are wrong. Apparently, there are some dev members who support themselves solely on this project.

I don't know about you guys, but if my personal income (and even whether or not I'll end up homeless) depends on ONE MOD... I will be paranoid about everything. After all, this has become your 'job', you will not live with 'Sure nothing will be bad happen'.

In a situation like this, why would anyone works WITHOUT CONTRACTS OR ANY SAFETY MEASUREMENTS?? Like i can't understand this. Everything is go with word of trust and... That's it.

I can still write so many problems, but i highly doubt this post will be stay up.

calamity devs suddenly deciding to put 5000% effort into the mod after 5 years of nothing but reworks and balances 0.2 seconds before ozzatron gets outed as a nonce and completely kills the mod

Since calamity mod got cancelled, i want to say sorry for this abomination that i made 2 years ago as a joke.

I was 15 at the time, im sorry, im really sorry. I wanted to make a normal remake after, but i kept delaying and delaying it. Maybe, ill eventually draw it when i stop feeling sadness everytime i hear "calamity mod".

Sorry if there are grammatical errors, english is still not my first language.

Im gonna fucking cry, im sorry :(

Scal-themed Murassama I made for the Murassama Contest. I'm posting this to try and lighten the mood in this subreddit.

I'm posting this to try and lighten the mood on the sub. I'm embarrassed by it because it was my first attempt at animating a sprite, and the result turned out like crap XD. It also fell well short of the other Murassamas.

Yeah they're taking the piss whit us (I added more to this image)

(5 freaking years, I'm starting to believe that ozzaNonce was just the scapegoat so they could leave, you really get the Jeffrey that the Diddy recommended???)

To the devs: Please release EVERY unfinished work, the community could finish it a lot faster than starting with nothing

i feel like the fallout wouldn't have been so severe if removals didn't happen

First off i'm absolutely not saying the devs or musicians are at fault or blaming them for wanting them removed at the end of the day its their product and they have the final say, but I feel like if the mod just stayed frozen no content updates without the removals the fallout wouldn't so severe. The mod's progression was going nowhere for years. I understand there was the fabsol fallout and ozzychud being a piece of shit lead and they wanted to clean up fabsol's mess first but i feel like at one point we were fine at the state of the mod and just wanted to go forward for me atleast. I absolutely understand that development takes time for sprites, design, coding and stuff as well as maintenance for tmod but there was no way there wasn't period of time where the mod couldn't just progress forward instead of reworking everything. Just my thoughts feel free to agree or disagree.

Do you think Calamity could return someday?

I'm not exactly following all the news regarding Calamity after it was announced to end. Not a single clue if the sprites, OSTs and other stuff have already been taken out, or if there are already a ton of devs that officially left the project.

The thing is, everything is at the peak right now: people going from mourning the loss and hating on Ozzatron; the fact that the mod probably was already dead due to the lack of 'important' updates in years; etc... Even so, do you guys think there is a possibility for people to return and the mod start updating again?

Calamity is, most likely, the most famous and iconic mod from Terraria. People spent hours and days of their lives working on the project, just as players spent a lot of time playing and enjoying it. It's completely fair and reasonable that some people wish to not be related to a mod that had two groomer lead devs, but, just as a few have pointed: is it worth it to let such an incredible mod die because of a single event? I've seen people mentioning that the devs used Ozzatron's case to fully give up on the project, and others saying that it was still too recent from Fabsol's case, which just culminated on making them give up aswell — not due to lack of interest and care for the mod, but from the disappointment.

Personally, I believe it could return. Some people could return to the mod and work on it again, new devs could come in... Maybe it's just a blind hope, tho.

What do you think?

Calamity didn't necessarily have overpolishing problem, bur rather oversanding

So, let me elaborate using a table analogy. You've made a wooden table. It looks good and it's almost ready. All you need to do is sand out rough edges and apply varnish so the person using this table won't get any splinters. Now, as the sanding is done you can start coating. But wait, what is this? You see that you may not have smoothed the edge enough and you get back to sanding. You could have asked another person to see whether this part is rough or not, as you've been working for so long that you can't tell yourself, but you refuse. So, you keep grinding and suddenly you're struck with realization that the corner of the table is now round. What do you do next? You decide to sand out other corners of the said table but you just can't get them right. After a while, you notice that the entire corner of the table is missing and the only things you can do is either shorten the table or just start all over again. Mind you, the client is still waiting for the table. Eventually, you give up, tell the client that: "hey, I may have messed up, but check out this cool table concepts I came up with!" Client is unhappy and so you call him entitled, even though they paid for that table.

Genuinely nobody is playing Calamity Mod without the music.

This whole cancellation has just been an excuse for everyone involved to throw a tantrum and feel important by removing their assets, in the end only the players suffer and have to piece back together our game.

Hot take: the devs doing a steam showing scrapped content is in poor taste

I peaked the donation stream they had going and it’s full of them showing off features and content that they claimed they were “so close” to adding to the mod before the mod was cancelled. They should have kept all this to themselves, as this is content that will never make it to the game. Over the past week theres been a number of cool new things they’ve showed off that we will never get, and it really feels like they’re mocking the community (while then asking us for donations).

To any devs reading this: the only thing this accomplishes is making the community feel bad and like you’re poking fun at them and showing them something they really want that they’ll never get.
