Invincible's Worst Dad

While the comics thankfully don't endorse this behavior, it's a terrifying accurate look to how so-called fathers like Adam here see their daughters as: Trophies.

Apartheid is still apartheid

While South Africa's apartheid was more explicit, Rhodesia's apartheid laws were more "subtle" but just as violent. Instead of "Whites Only" signs and loudly hostile Boer-influenced institutions, they used the "plausible deniability" of exploiting socioeconomic conditions that native blacks suffered under by raising fees for public spaces and restricting a degree of wealth that the average black native could not enjoy. Even a black 'middle class' could not share the same mobility as a white citizen. It relied heavily on the image of "British sophistication" rather than the louder, but similar prejudices of its South African neighbor.

All Robert Mugabe did was employ the same institutions and statecraft against his political opponents to enrich himself in the same way the colonial whites did. Rhodesia as a government made no meaningful attempts at forming democratic institutions, which lead to the messiness of modern Zimbabwe as we know. It was only a "fine" nation to live in if you're among the few 8% of that population.
