England vs Mexico tomorrow?

Going to watch England vs Mexico at the Ship and Anchor tomorrow. It’ll probably be packed, but should be fun. Anyone fancy joining?

If the queues end up being too long, we can go to Elephant & Castle instead.

Looking For One or More People to Hangout With During Stampede

**Repost since my last post got taken down**

Hey guys, I'm m20 and pretty antisocial. My friend from BC bailed on our plans for stampede and now I am looking for someone around my age with the same interests to hangout with. I am pretty childish at heart and mostly want to drink, eat and try the rides. I am also pretty interested in the music. I already have tickets for Finger eleven but suggestions are appreciated. If my interests align with yours shoot me a DM and we can talk further.

I want to clarify that I am not looking for a date. I thought that was pretty obvious in my first post but apparently not. I just want to hangout with people who have the same interests and might not be too into the whole cowboy side of things.

Hoping to expand my social circle

Hi everyone! I’m a 34F in southwest Calgary near Heritage Park. Calgary born and raised, Indian descent (just mentioning it upfront so there are no surprises!).

I’ve been studying for what feels like forever, so I’m hoping to get out more and meet some new people.

A bit about me: I enjoy working out, going for walks, coffee, and checking out new places around the city. I’m looking for genuine friendships with kind, easygoing people.

I’m also in healthcare and studying for a big exam, so if anyone is ever interested in being a practice patient for history taking or communication skills, that would be a huge bonus. Absolutely no pressure though. My main goal is to make new friends.

If we sound like we’d get along, feel free to comment or send me a message!

What are the best/most underrated artists playing during the Stampede?

Hi fellow Stampeders!

I'm a music junkie visiting Calgary for the first time and looking for amazing, local, or underrated bands/artists playing in and around Calgary during the Stampede. Tell me who you're really excited to see this year.

I like most music genres that involves real instruments but would be happy to check out a rave or DJ set on good recommendations. I tend to lean more alt-rock but don't hold back based on genre.

Canada Day BBQ

32M thinking of hosting a bbq on Canada day in a park somewhere in the city (bowness etc), wondering if there is a big enough group that would be interested? Prefer not to spend this day with the same friend group

Update BBQ at 12:30 pm (Stanley Park)

BYOD. I’ll bring charcoal, burgers and hotdogs.

42 M - traveller and checking if anyone is up for catching up over drinks tonight

Here for a few more nights so feel free to reach out

Have been enjoying my time here with the hikes and treks and everything that this place has to offer. Open evening and wondering if anyone is up for an easy going connect over drinks or coffee or something.

Travelling from Texas, here to escape the corporate world and the mundanities of life. While I am introvert I am opening up to talking to strangers and that has been helpful. Just leaving it in The universe without any expectations. I am obviously happy to pick up the tab.

need advice

hey r/CalgarySocialClub

as most of you know, i've been building koffeeyap publicly and this community is literally where it all started. so it only makes sense i come back here when i need advice.

this weekend I ran our first ever hand-picked matches. it's been equal parts exciting, stressful, and genuinely fun, but i've hit some real issues i need to be honest about.

issue 1: no-shows

some people aren't showing up. no message, no heads up, nothing. the other person is just sitting alone in a coffee shop waiting. that's not okay. if you can't make it, the bare minimum is letting your match know 24hrs before. leaving someone stranded is disrespectful and it kills the whole vibe of what we're trying to build.

issue 2: people taking advantage of the free model

i've been running koffeeyap for free because i wanted to learn, what works, what doesn't, what actually makes a good match. but some people have used that to request 10+ match changes. never seen that before honestly.

so here's what i'm thinking:

i want to add a small monthly fee, $11/month for one curated match per week. that's four real meetups a month for less than the cost of two coffees. affordable, but enough that people actually show up.

i'm also considering keeping the pre-meet details minimal on purpose. i've noticed we all carry way more bias than we realize, but when you actually sit down and talk to someone, you find out they're genuinely cool. i want to protect that moment.

what do you guys think? is the price and hiding other persons name till they meet fair? would you pay it? is this the right direction to head in?

42 M- traveller have a washed out day tomorrow, camping in the hotel room and looking for company to explore the town

In Calgary for the Banff and Jasper hikes. By the looks of it it is a washed out day tomorrow with nothing much on offer apart from clouds and rains. Wondering if anyone is up for some good company. Lunch, dinner going around and exploring the town whatever works.

I am travelling from Texas and plan to be here this week. Just a normal guy running the corporate treadmill who got tired and decided that the Canadian rockies are calling for peace. Seems like will have some alone time at hand. Have a rental car and camping in a hotel for now so I can host if needed. You never know what this might lead to, I have a dreamy mind and love to imagine the possibilities 😋

Didn’t find an appropriate sub to post in so trying my luck here. If there are better subs please let me know.

Hi! I’m (F26) and my boyfriend (M27) are looking to make friends in Calgary 🇨🇦 (ideally other couples!)

Hi everyone!
I’m from the UK and will be moving to Calgary in September to be with my boyfriend. We’d love to meet some new people to hang out with and hopefully make some long-term friends.
We’re into exploring the city, going on walks, and spending time outdoors. When I visited Calgary in January, we had a great time at the zoo, and we also love going to hockey games. We’re both into collectibles, browsing unique shops, and getting lost in bookstores.
If you think we’d get along or share similar interests, feel free to send me a message! We’d love to connect with other couples or anyone who’s looking to make new friends too. 😊

Moving to city in a few days, looking to connect

hi everyone! i'm 18m, and i'll be visiting calgary for a few weeks starting next saturday. it'll be my first time there and i'd really like to get to know the city better, especially with someone who's native there (though if you're new too i'd be more than happy to explore it together).

my schedule will be mostly free outside of m-f from around 9-5 where i'll be in training/work. i love going to the gym (so exploring gyms together will def be a great idea), eating good food (never tried canadian restaurants), reading, and just exploring cities/shops in general!

i will also be in time for the stampede (native texan, so been to houston rodeo every year and got a pretty good idea of a southern rodeo) and would love to go as well.

i'm 6'0 (183 cm), east asian, and will be residing right next to university of calgary with my office in downtown calgary if that matters.

i'm pretty easy to get along with and i don't discriminate anyone off anything (race, age, ability, sexuality, etc).

so, if you're interested in accompanying me in my first visit to calgary then please be my guest and reach out! even if you can't make it, do still reach out and tell me some things about calgary that you think is worthwhile checking out :)

Moving to Calgary - How to make friends?

Hey there, 35m moving over from Ireland in a couple of months. I have a job and accommodation sorted already, so not looking for tips in that regard.

I will need to get a car, I'm assuming 4WD is best. What can I expect for 4-5k? Or could I lease long term?

How social are people in Calgary? I'm worried about making new friends. I don't drink heavily but I do so socially. Are there good rock/dive bars? I think I'll meet 'my people' there.

Is there a social scene around Cavalry FC? I love soccer and would gladly join a casual supporter's 5 a side game, if such a thing existed.

I've started working out and will join a gym there, but I'm not really sure how to make friends there?

Other things I like or will try: Volunteering, outdoors, darts.

Any other tips for socialising or just getting to know the city, things I should know culturally, financially etc are welcome of course.

Thanks in advance 😊
