Detroit / Zipper Front Jacket 6QLJ from 70s-80s
The previous owner might have been a worker for company “Crane Equipment & Service” (C.E.S.) which is one of North America’s largest and oldest manufacturers of overhead cranes and Jib Cranes, that provides quality lifting solutions since 1917.
Unfortunately I still haven’t found the exact year of the jacket, because it’s missing the tag on the jacket itself.
But the jacket has been part of workwear at period from late 70s until 1982, as manufacture of this exact jacket model stoped at this year as I understood, at that period the company had 3 events:
At 1970’s – Abell-Howe Spider-Jib System is introduced – linking up several jib cranes into one system.
Then in 1980’s – Abell-Howe Introduces our Marine STAK-MASTER for Boat Handling and Storage systems.
And in 1982 – Washington Equipment Company is formed in the Peoria, IL area. This company is also known as WECO. And that’s it.
It was cool to research but very frustrating, I’ve spent many hours to research and identify my jacket, when I could have gotten some advices and direction to shorten my research. Isn’t Reddit a place where mainly you can exchange with personal experiences and assumptions?
Anyway, after the long research on this item I kinda liked the jacket again, after it was forgotten in a clothed for years.
Before, the purchase was influenced by trends or the brand popularity, know it got more value or solid characteristics to be more special to me I guess.
