Not soccer related but I'm genuinely curious to get Andrew's take on this

Can we mostly agree to disagree with both the boys' goals? Alvarez goal was spectacular, but I'd wager most people prefer the Cabral goal for both the angle (closer, but much tighter than Alvarez) and the moment (Alvarez winner against what should be an inferior team is amazing, but Cape Verde equalizing in extra time with the world champs is a way better story).

As for the Just goal, while I think Andrew was insanely dismissive of what was a really good goal, JJ has some serious tunnel vision around this goal.

I think in terms of immortal moments combined with pure aesthetic, it has to be the Cabral goal.

That said, it's impossible to remember them all, so drop in your favorites so we can relive them!

With the World Cup just having ended, we felt it was the right time to decompress and debrief with the Animals in a live Zoom session!  
Together, we get into everything from the USMNT's performance to the possibility of a 64-team tournament to the referees we enjoy/despise the most and all things in between! 
Plus: we dive into some of our favorite show segments from the past and contemplate an "EPL Back For More" sequel.

So overall I think this cup went very well. Without getting into FIFA, tickets, or politics two things really stood out to me that need to be fixed.

1. TV coverage: bc fifa seemed to own the broadcast and thus the camera shots. We seemed to miss a lot of what was going on off the ball. Commentators would be like there’s a fight breaking out, and we’d just see crowd shot of random celebrity. Also very little on replays of things that happened. An experience tv director and crew would catch those things.

2. Ref positioning. All tournament I was complaining about how many times a ref would get in the way of the player at the top of the box. I’d never seen it happen so often. It’s almost like fifa asked them to take up that position and it’s not normal to them. It was only in the 3rd place game I heard Owen and Darren on comms finally talk about it.

Not sure what you guys think, did this stand out to anyone else? Any other on field on broadcast issues bug you?

This halftime show is the most “games gone” thing of all time. Disgrace.

I may be biased, but even for me, an American, I think this is the best and my favorite World Cup ever.

48 teams worked even better than I thought, and even though 64 would be better for the finality of the groups, I still think unless more teams join FIFA, it invalidates the status of getting here.

I also have other thoughts, and I know politically it has been a disaster off the field for a variety of reasons, but I hope if any of you animals caught a game, watched it wherever you were, and saw the joy it brought the world it can be looked upon fondly.

So sad it's over :(

As another world cup ends I want to say thank you to Andrew and JJ for their awesome coverage. Haven't missed a word you've said since I started listening in 2018 and in a never ending sea of new football content and podcasts, you guys are consistently the best in the business. Thanks for your never ending professionalism, energy, unique style, and consistency. Listening to the pod is genuinely always a highlight of my day and I'm sure I speak for all listeners when I say we see and appreciate how hard you guys are always working to make this thing great. Keep doing what you do!

2. I dislike Argentina as the next person, but Messi was clearly the player of the tournament

We all assume if/when Pulisic comes to MLS, the same talking heads that are crucifying him will all turn around and love him (cough cough, Andy’s boss)
