Urgent recruitment needed
Celtic fc need to make a decision on who will be next seasons manager. We need to get a goalkeeper, RW,RB,LB, 2 or 3 midfielders and a couple of strikers. And at least 3 to replace Maeda. We'll probably lose Maeda,Hatate, Nygren and Yang. Huge rebuild ASAP. I don't care about the cup right now. Our main focus should be on recruitment.
Role Playing as a Celtic scout
(Please delete if this post is not allowed)
I know we are in for a long drawn out summer and I know we all have a shopping list of players that we would like Celtic to go after.
However I'm also aware that our board will do everything they can to penny pinch and we will likely not get the calibre of player we want, so I gave myself a task this season to track players that could be got for affordable prices.
Not sure if any of these players are on Celtics radar or if we could get them, but if we got any of the following I think they would be great transfers for now and the future. Transfer fees are taken from transfer market/fotmob.
This is simply Just to show that even if you are penny pinching there is some great talent. Mostly all players have EXCELLENT game stats, G/A just given for ease of viewing
Also as a comparison nearly all of them have better stats than Yang/tounetki etc had when we bought them.
Players
- Pablo Pagis (23) - AM/LW - 10G, 5A for FC Lorient - €6-9m
- Juho Kilo (23) - DM - 4G, 8A for ADO Den Haag - €800k-1.5m
- Dion Beljo (24) - ST - 38G, 6A for Dinamo Zagreb - €4-7m (didn't make it in the German top flight, went to Zagreb, and is banging them in)
- Gabriel Vidović (22) - LW - 7G, 4A in 25 games for Zagreb - €2m
- Jasper Hartog (20) - RW - 8G, 3A for Jong AZ Alkmaar - €500k-1m
- Clayton Taylor (22) or Eli Adams (24) from Newcastle Jets - 13 G/A each in 20 games. Or even Xavier Bertoncello (20) with 9 G/A in ~800 minutes
- Tobias Bech (24) - RW - 13G, 4A for AGF - €3m
- Luka Jovanović (21) - ST - 11G, 3A in 20 games - €800k-1m
- Devin Haen (21) - ST - 18G, 4A for Willem II - €1-2m
- Julian Hall (18) - ST/LW - 9G, 2A in 14 games for Red Bull New York (MLS)
So there really is no excuse for last minute free transfers or loans. I'm nowhere near being an actual scout and I have stayed way under what we would WANT Celtic to pay for players and I still have a full list of 40 or so players from across the world. Surely Celtic can do that and more!!!
Really hoping for a good window.
Would Slaterry, Nacho and Miller be a good start even without a manager in place
Would people be happy with the following transfers regardless of if we have a manager in place or do people think we should be more ambitious and/our wait for a new manager.
I think we should be looking at signings of a higher standard and waiting for a new manager (assuming we get one) but I also think we can't afford to be too snobbish and realistically should be looking at what constitutes a good deal. Theres more than likely gonna be a clear out, we know Nacho can do a job and I'm pretty certain the other 2 could as well. Not saying any would be starters but good squad players with minimum expenditure.
Slattery on a free
Nacho heavily bonus/insetivised 12 month deal with further year triggered if he reaches certain targets
Calvin Miller 1.2 million plus throw in Scotland cap, European appearances clauses to sweeten the deal. Would also be worth every penny alone just to snatch him from under Delboys nose
Fozzy.
I really do hope in some capacity, Mark Foderingham remains part of the club. You see him with the boys and you can tell he gets a tune out of them and increases that “Intensitehh”
Has this season been a success?
We won this league because we went all out for 7 straight wins after the Dundee Utd defeat! But we still leaked goals every game.
MON n Maloney made it happen
We lost the League Cup while Nancy was in charge, a fucking clown!
Scottish Cup Final next up!
No disrespect to our legend Lenny.
But we own another double.
I hope everyone gives Lenny the respect he is forever owed by us.
Double!
Were we okay at best?
I reckon we were!
Don Robertson
After the Motherwell match, everyone was waiting to hear who would be the ref for the final game.
When Don Robertson was announced, I was happy because he is a firm but fair ref!
On the day, he did an excellent job!
I bet there was an immense amount of pressure on him, but he showed his class!
Rewatched the game, and all his bookings etc were justified.
And of course, he awarded the penalty without any doubt, over ruled the flag happy tit on the far side for Daizen's goal, n knew it was time up when the third goal went in!
McLean is the ref for the Final.
Dodgy!
Bit of perspective for the other side
Rangers are now the same as Aberdeen were in the year 2000. Aberdeen had won 1 title in 15 years, the same as Rangers the last 15 years
Scottish cup final
Saw earlier that rangers are relying on a Celtic cup win to secure Europa league qualifying rounds instead of the conference league…
They’ve gone from watching other clubs results for automatic champions league qualification to sitting in the conference league that looks stacked with decent teams next season and making a fraction of the money, the meltdown that would come from a celtic loss costing them the Europa league would be monumental
Hearts Statements?
Has any evidence emerged yet of actual assaults on Hearts players? I saw one player break a fans phone and Shankland push a guy away who was goading him but nothing of actual violence from Celtic fans
ps i dont think the fans should have been there but goading and assault are worlds apart
Toulouse have made an official approach to Motherwell for manager Jens Berthel Askou
https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/26124239.toulouse-talks-motherwell-first-choice-berthel-askou/
Toulouse are in negotiations with Motherwell over a move to land Jens Berthel Askou as their next head coach.
The Fir Park boss is the number one candidate for the £1million a year post with the club who finished tenth in Ligue One.
Toulouse made an official approach to the Steelmen earlier this week over a move to land the coveted Dane.
While talks continue Motherwell sources say no deal has been agreed between the two sides over a compensation package.
Touted for the permanent vacancy at Celtic Askou secured fourth place over Hibernian and secure European football during a fine campaign in the SPFL Premiership when his side earned widespread praise for an entertaining, possession based style of football.
Formerly a coach in the Faroes with HB Torshavn the 43-year-old was also been the number two at Sparta Prague and FC Copenhagen before replacing Michael Wimmer last summer.
Despite a strong season in France Toulouse want to make the transition from a counter attacking game to a pressing style. And they have identified Askou as the best man for the job should a final agreement by reached with Motherwell.
Spanish boss Carles Martinez Novell left the French club after three seasons when Sunday’s clash with relegated Nantes was abandoned after 22 minutes when supporters entered the field of play and threw pyrotechnics and flares. Players and officials returned to the dressing room before the gam was called off 40 minutes later.
Should Askou leave Motherwell will charge head of recruitment Nick Daws with replicating the same successful data based approach to sourcing a replacement which turned up Wimmer and Askou.
The meltdown continues
Hearts take veiled swipe at Martin O’Neill as club issue stinging statement
Anyone else feel Hearts have been classless in defeat?
I quite liked Hearts challenging all season and would've had no problem with congratulating them on a historic win if they managed it.
But in defeat they've come across as pathetic. Can't congratulate Celtic. Every other comment is about referees helping us, completely neglecting the shankland handball in the Rangers game that they laughed off.
Being really overdramatic about a small pitch invasion, as if they wouldn't have all flooded on had the final game been at Tynecastle and they won the league. Not to mention Derek Mcinnes complimenting the Kilmarnock fans when they did the same when he was manager there.
No congratulations or anything from Hearts, even Pep was right away congratulating Arsenal after they won the league last night.
They just come across really bitter to me, and it makes me think they have no class or grace.
