Wondering if you wizards can either talk me off a cliff...or give me a gentle nudge over the cliff

I swear I searched and Im shocked there aren't more threads on this...but here for a "Is cerakoting profitable" type of post.

So long story short, I used to paint crank baits when I was fishing more. I got pretty decent with it and even tried to get artsy with it and enjoyed not only the process but being able to use my thoughts/imagination to do my thing. Well been getting back into guns, and basically im gonna try and cerakote a HBPDW, but only the polymer cheek weld area. Im admittedly half assing it (im using C series)...but the Behr at Lowes didnt match my hand guard enough for my liking so here I am trying it out.

Well that got my gears moving. Theres a few cerakote places local but only 2 certified via the cerakote website. I likely wouldn't do the certification right away (but I would ultimately want to) but I dont mind getting an FFL and get right there. Im also cool with the investment in equipment and paint to do it the right way. And, I think I can get good at it cuz I got a pretty steady hand. Im pretty creative too and think EVENTUALLY....LONG eventually be able to get in the same ballpark as some of you wizards in here.

SO, long story longer. I have a full time job and am not looking to quit that any time soon cuz im experiencing good career growth I wouldn't want to get away from. If I was to do this as a side hustle/borderline hobby....can I eke out some profit? Maybe once I get on that wizard level with years of experience and trial and error then maybe I can consider doing something crazy like trying to start a cerakote business. I had no idea how many things could/are cerakoted and it seems like there is potential out there for making some money as a side hustle at least.

Thanks for reading my book of a post! LOL any insights are appreciated and feel free to insult me for my half assing plans for the HBPDW. appreciate the insights either way 🫡

Is this possible to be done in Cerakote?

Just wondering if having an AUG cerakoted with the CS2 Chameleon skin is possible. Also wondering how much roughly it would cost.

Cerakote Fail

Played around with my Citadel and f**ked up the stock. What prep work could I do to make the coat stick to the plastic stocks and AR grips. I’m not totally bummed about this because I planned to put an RPP stock on anyways, but I’d like to know where I screwed up.

Cerakote and fishing lures

Hi! In my search for "The One" clear coat I came across Cerakote. I have heard of it before but always thought it was for pricey guns and fishing reels. I am particularly interested in the MC2200 and MC 156/7 for more expensive lures. I mostly use UV resin for my lures but it has limitations and I am getting over the high build gloss of UV resin and 2K epoxies. The low build of cerakote and hardness and durability are very appealing., as is the 1k application.

I would like to know how unsafe it is to use. My study/studio opens up into the kitchen and living area and my spray booth has 140ft3/min airflow after static pressure. I do not have a basement or garage, and outside has only 4 months of the year when I have conditions suitable for spraying 2K clears. I can't find info wrt to fumes, health concerns etc besides obvious things like "wear a respirator". Also what are the humidity limitations? I live in coastal South Carolina FYI and am thinking of creating an outside spray booth with explosion proof fan that can move much more air than my quite inside set up.

Galaxy style

This turned out much better than expected and I am quite happy with it, but this was also my first attempt at this style. If anyone with more time doing this style has some tips/criticism I'd love to hear it.

Color help

Please excuse the AI image, but I’m doing a project for a friend who wants this. I’m having a hard time coming up with an accurate combination of colors. I’m currently eyeing somewhere around a Copper Brown, Burnt Bronze, Graphite black mix.

I know it may be a long shot but any help or similar color references would be a huge help

The Hopper from NWFNGLD Tactical

This build is an homage to one of the modern icons of cool… “The Hopper” personifies the rugged southwest, steeped in the denim and tobacco stained nostalgia of a bygone era where men were still men and the American spirit was alive and well. This FAL carries with it the original DNA of the rifle from American Dreamer now complete with that NWFNGLD flavor we bring to all our project pieces. Please enjoy and kick the dust off your boots on the way in. Thanks for giving this one a look!
