Im starting to think this might be a gag anime guys

I started watching this show because I was really interested in a thorough dissection on class inequities through the lens of addiction. I assumed that the pedagogical use of comedy in the first episode was a commentary on how the plight of oppressed minorities is treated as a joke by everyday society.

Having watched all four episodes several times im starting to think this might just be a vehicle for fart and sex jokes.

Gasp.

Episode 4 is a vibe change. Will you keep watching?

The episode as a whole made me wildly uncomfortable, and I feel like it was supposed to, and the ending made my heart drop.

I used to have a general expectation for Yani Neko's absurdity and message, but I don't anymore. I feel remorse and confusion after this one. I will keep watching, but without expectations

a marxist analysis of chainsmoker cat

There is a quiet respect for class consciousness in Chainsmoker Cat. The Beastfolk are oppressed in the background, and the message is clear: the proletariat pursue vice because they’re oppressed. This is a basic 101 class consciousness lesson. It’s not very interesting .

Luckily, the focus of the show is NOT on class consciousness, it’s on gags. All of the gags are at least slightly tinged with oppression. If this makes you uncomfortable, that’s good bc you’re the butt of the joke💨

This anime is not going to the direction I hoped it would

I feel they pulled a bait and switch on me, saw the first episode and I really enjoyed the relatable struggles, the addiction, quitting and going back immediately, being socially awkward, the vibes I got was light hearted view on the adult life and everyday struggles.

Second episode her friends were introduced and it was nice, and it went down hill form there, just low effort content horny comedy.

And btw are they completely forgetting Hame's last name was accidentally changed to anal angel? i was dying to see her reaction when she finds out especially with her short tempered gamer rage.

I know not expect continuity with this kind of gag anime but what's the point of that scene if there going to completely ignore it?

the anime made me accept my rl situation a bit more and helped me to make the best out of it.

for context, I'm jobless since 4 years health wise and I'm spending most of my time at home doing nothing. i feel like an outsider and that kinda put me down mentally over the years. once i watched the first episode it kinda felt relatable somehow, the lifestyle and everything and i had the feeling it ain't that bad after all and i just need a different perspective. would be interested if someone has the same experience or is it just me.
