She doesn't seem that much shorter than anyone else. Here, she even looks taller than Hame, if only a little. Do you think it's mostly just her style of dress and the way she carries herself? She does tend to "live in the moment" alot, which most people feel is easier when you're younger and not hampered down with responsibilities; like eating healthy your paying your rent on time.

They where mostly just a plot device, but I liked how much they inform about beastfolk's standing in society.
