Roofer recommendations for small repair?

I need like 4 shingles replaced and am getting Quotes from about $800 to $2800. I feel like it should be at most a 2 hour job. This is so confusing. Anyway, who have u used for small roof repairs? I've had like 5 companies come out. One of them provided a verbal quote and has ghosted me - Irish Roofing Company.

Some companies are offering no warranty since it attached to old work. Idk who installed roof because seller of house didnt know. Realtor was useless and should have informed me the lack of this information could have been a bargaining chip when i bought the place.

One company, Right Way, told me contractors are obligated to provide a 2 year warranty so I guess the ones who are telling me there's no warranty are straight up lying? Right Way won't take the job bc they don't want to warranty an improper install. Wish I could hire them though.

It might just be easier to do this myself.

Half a million SRP customers can't vote. Yesterday 15 people gave the seat to a lawyer who sells data center approvals.

Earlier this week, I posted about the SRP Board vacancy in District 7. Here is how it ended: The Council seated Thomas Galvin, a Maricopa County Supervisor and partner at Rose Law Group, over Eric Gorsegner, the senior District 7 Council member, who lost by about three votes.

Before the vote, I asked Galvin whether he or his firm currently represents clients with matters adverse to or negotiating business with SRP. He refused to answer, citing client privilege.

This was not a gotcha. I submitted the question to SRP's legal department in advance. SRP's chief legal executive confirmed that a general inquiry like this raised no privilege issues and offered to brief Galvin ahead of time. The Council's lawyer agreed the question was fair. Galvin knew it was coming and still asserted privilege.

Consider what Rose Law Group does:

  • Data Centers: They advertise a practice covering land use, water, and power approvals. They publicly represent Microsoft on Arizona data centers.
  • SRP Deals: A firm co-founder represented Google in its clean energy deal with SRP for its Mesa facility.
  • Water Litigation: The firm serves as Fondomonte Arizona's registered agent and lobbyist, and defends it in the Attorney General's groundwater case against the company.

The Council voted to seat Galvin without knowing which of those clients currently have business before SRP, completely ignoring SRP's written guidance. Not a single member addressed the lack of procedure.

I made a mistake during the vote. I held back a statement I had prepared, trusting the body to follow its own written rules. Here is what I withheld:

In April, shortly after my election, I received threatening text messages from an unknown number. I filed a report with Phoenix Police (Report #T26005804) and notified SRP's Corporate Secretary on April 17.

One message read:

>"Lupe is gone. So is another one of your team. Voluntarily actually. Health reasons. Within the year. We can choose not to fill the seat. We can choose who gets seated. It's not a democracy."

That was April 17. Three months later, a board member retired for health reasons. Today, the Council filled that seat.

I am publishing this now because SRP customers deserve transparency. We were told not to make this partisan, in a meeting where the Council ignored its own guidelines to seat a lawyer whose firm sells power and water approvals to mega-projects, who refused to disclose his conflicts of interest, and who publicly labeled members of these boards "leftists" after the April election.

I do not believe anyone with those entanglements can serve SRP's customers.

These seats are elected, and the next election is in two years. I intend to spend that time making sure customers know how their council members voted this week, and helping people who want to run.

They will not operate in the shadows any longer.

Views are my own, not SRP's or the Council's.

Looking for reputable clean nail salon for pedicure

I just had leg surgery and cannot reach my feet to exfoliate them or clip my toenails. Looking for a place to get a basic pedicure done where it's clean and they sanitize the tools and such.

I don't know much about nail salons in general but I've heard horror stories in the past about them being unsanitary, so I am worried, as I am somewhat immunocompromised at this time.

Willing to go outside Chandler if I have to. Thanks in advance.

Tonight We Are Packing City Council Chambers In Opposition To ALPRs (Non-Partisan Issue)

TLDR: Automated license plate readers (ALPRs) are mass surveillance technologies that violate our Fourth Amendment right to privacy. We are packing the City Council Chambers for tonight’s meeting to demand that Chandler’s Flock cameras (which are no longer being used by the city) are physically covered up, and that an ordinance be passed prohibiting the city from using ALPRs. Wear red to signify your opposition to ALPRs.

Today, August 13, 6pm

Chandler City Council Chambers (88 E Chicago St)

More information: https://eastvalleyunite.org/flock/

As a progressive advocacy organization we often don’t post in general forums such as this one, but we have seen strong non-partisan support for efforts against not just Flock, but all ALPRs, so we’re sharing this here.

First, Chandler is no longer using the 40 Flock cameras posted around the city. However, they have not been taken down yet, and as far as we are aware, can still be accessed by Flock and other agencies. We need the cameras physically covered up immediately. There have been instances from Evanston, Illinois, to Troy, New York, to other cities, where Flock has kept operating cameras after a contract has terminated, simply not taking them down, or even after they are taken down, putting them back up.

Second, we need an ordinance stopping the city from continuing this mass surveillance system under the name of another company, like Axon. ALPRs capture information on every single vehicle that passes by. This includes not only a car’s license plate, but date, time, location, and increasingly, make, model, bumper stickers, dents, and any other identifiable characteristics that can be picked up by the AI systems embedded in this surveillance technology. This type of dragnet surveillance is what violates our constitutional rights. The ACLU argues that using ALPR systems gives the government “unprecedented powers of surveillance that upset traditional expectations of privacy in violation of the Fourth Amendment”. This is an issue that applies to all ALPRs, not just from Flock. This includes Axon, Motorola, Genetec, Leonardo, and any other ALPR company.

We have been working with the ACLU of Arizona to draft an ordinance to ban ALPRs. It would prohibit the City of Chandler from installing or operating any ALPR system, or accessing ALPR data from other agencies or private entities. To get this ordinance passed though, we need to continue the momentum we had against Flock to push the city council to introduce and pass it. The ordinance won’t be formally introduced by a councilmember tonight, but we’re packing the room to pressure them to do so soon. To send a strong visual signal, we are encouraging people to wear red to signify their opposition to ALPRs. Because we don’t have an agenda item, if you plan to speak, it will technically be under “unscheduled public appearances” when you fill out the speaker card. We will have copies of the ordinance available at the council meeting tonight if you would like to see the language. You can also reach out to us at info@eastvalleyunite.org.

People from across the political spectrum support our efforts. From democrats, to republicans, to socialists, to libertarians, the vast majority of people can see that ALPRs are unconstitutional warrantless mass surveillance. Let’s continue the fight to keep Flock and all ALPRs out of Chandler for good!

After Flock Win, Chandler Residents To Pack August 13 Council Meeting For End Of All ALPRs

Now that Flock is gone, local residents want to make sure that another ALPR company, such as Axon, can’t take Flock’s place. “We don’t want the police to just continue this mass surveillance system under the name of another company,” said Taylortaft, “which is why we’re pushing for an ordinance to prohibit the city from using ALPRs in any way.” He says that could include stopping the city from contracting with a company for the purpose of using ALPRs, both fixed, like traditional Flock Falcon cameras, and mobile, such as those mounted to police vehicles, in addition to prohibiting accessing ALPR data from ALPRs on private property, such as those located at a Home Depot or Lowe’s location, or those used by HOA’s.

What a great night

Started off with a hurricane by my house around 6:15 (seriously, sat in the Fry's parking lot and couldn't see 50 feet in front of me for 15 minutes), and now it has been raining for a solid 5 hours straight. Back door open just enjoying the sound of rain with coolish temperatures!

Was just complaining we didn't get anything a few days ago and apparently Zeus heard me complain! lol
