Is chemical engineering from state government college a bad idea?

Got into my state government college(tier 3). Which branch should I prioritize?

I like Chemistry, so Chemical Engineering seemed a decent choice. PSU placements do happen. But, I guess I have to prepare for GATE.

Or should I go for branches like ECE/CSE. Not that interested in coding and I do struggle with heavy math. Trying to work on foundation.

I am confused. Kindly help.

25F, ChemE, Should I pursue my Master's in Germany or stay in India?

Hi all,

I'm 25 years old and currently working in the private oil & gas sector in India, earning around 14 LPA with 2.5 years of experience. I'm a Chemical Engineering graduate from a Tier 1 college, and pursuing a master's abroad has always been a dream of mine—not just for the degree, but also for the international exposure and experience.

I've received admits for process and energy-related master's programs at TUM, TU Berlin, and OVGU. I'm currently learning German (A1 level) and understand that I'll have to dedicate a significant amount of time to improving my language skills alongside my coursework.

Financially, I can comfortably support myself for the first year using my savings. However, for the second year, I'd either have to find a part-time job or borrow money from my parents, which I'd really like to avoid. On top of that, the cost of living in cities like Munich and Berlin is quite high.

What concerns me the most is the current job market. After speaking to students pursuing similar courses, many have told me they're struggling to find even part-time jobs, let alone internships or full-time roles. Leaving a stable and well-paying job in India for so much uncertainty is making me question whether this is the right time to take the leap.

Another thing that's bothering me is the overall workload. Adjusting to a new country, managing coursework, learning German, and constantly applying for part-time and full-time jobs sounds mentally and physically exhausting. I'm worried about whether I'll be able to handle all of it.

Given the current economic situation, would you still recommend going ahead with a master's in Germany? Or would it be more sensible to continue working in India, switch to a better company, gain more experience, pursue relevant certifications or online courses, and consider studying abroad later when the market improves?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from people who are currently studying or working in Germany, particularly in process, chemical, or energy-related fields.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Sorry for the long post.

As a Chemical Graduate how should I feel when I am getting into IITD after one year drop for GATE preparation[CH]

I graduated in chemical engineering in 2025 and that year I have appeared for the GATE bit I couldn't qualify the exam because of the lake of preparation so I decided to take 1 year drop for GATE preparation and because of that I have left the placement offers that I had and second thing is the placement that I got was around 4-5 lpa I think that I should go for a gate preparation and I prepare well but in some months during the preparation I feel exhausted I feel lost so I think I have wasted my 3 months in that period and finally I have attempted GATE examination and qualified with score 530 and rank was 430, and before this examination there are some PSU examination also like IOCL and HPCL I have applied I have appeared them but I didn't qualify them so there is an emptiness behind me who is telling me you are a loser what you have done to your life you are not earning and you are now 25 years old and you have only one year left as the minimum age criteria for most of the PSU examination.

And I got IIT Delhi Mtech offer but I am not happy about that I feel that this is my side option.

Please help me choose between BSc(Hons) Geology and BSc(Hons) Industrial Chemistry

I am a PCB student who just passed 12th this year and I am getting a BSc (hons) course in Aligarh Muslim University. India.

I have placed biochemistry at the top in my preference list but I might not be able to get it because of my rank and high cut off of biochem so I need some advice on what I should place on the second place

My options are geology or industrial chemistry

But I am just so confused I tried researching on reddit and other places and I saw some demotivating stuff about pursuing geology, I have also heard some not good stuff about industrial chemistry.

I am just very confused on what I should choose in between the two.

Also, I may or may not use the first year of my BSs(Hons) as a partial drop for neet preparation.......

But still I would be really grateful any advice I can get regarding what subject I should choose between geology and industrial chemistry

Help

I am a Chemical Engineering graduate from tier 2 and recently got placed at Aarti Industries with a CTC of ₹6 LPA. My CGPA is 6.8, which I know isn't great, but I was fortunate enough to get placed. I don't know whether I'll be posted at a plant location or at the Vadodara head office. My long-term goal is to move into the EPC industry because I don't think plant operations are the right fit for me. Lately, I've been feeling quite anxious and uncertain about my career. I would really appreciate any advice on how I can transition into EPC from here
