Misunderstood lyrics, Christian music style :-)

Post your most memorable misunderstood lyrics from a Christian song (CCM, hymns, any subgenre will work).

I’ll start: Welcome Home by Shaun Groves.

“Take me, make me all you want me to be; it’s all I’m askin’, all I’m askin’.”

I just spent 25 years thinking he was saying, “It’s all in our skin, all in our skin.”

For those who listen to music daily — how do you bring Scripture into it?

For those who listen to music throughout the day — worship, gospel, Christian music, or even regular playlists — how do you intentionally bring Scripture into that time?

Do you pause between songs, use a Bible app, listen to audio Bible, write verses down, or just let certain songs remind you of God?

Ballydowse

Im the guy who was trying to find a band from 2000s with a white album cover and thought it might be Celtic or whatever. I JUST figured it out. And I was wrong about the album cover lol. It's a band called Ballydowse and the album I was thinking about was called Out of the Fertile Crescent. Do any of you guys know that band?

Downhere - For the Heartbreak [pop/rock]

Wanted to share one of my favorite songs from my favorite band of all time. If you‘ve heard of these guys, it’s probably from their hit Christmas song “How Many Kings”. That’s a great song, but they have so many other amazing songs as well that nobody knows about. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Give it a listen!

Does anyone remember the late 90s group Raze?

It's a shame one of the members was a criminal and hurt children. I wonder what would have became of them if that wasn't the case. Their music meant a lot to me and it was really, really good. Anyone else have any memories of them?

Change lyrics to Agnus Dei

I would like to start a petition or at least spread through the collective consciousness to change the lyrics that says "Are you Lord God Almighty?" to "You ARE Lord God Almighty!" Still works the same in terms of syllables and I feel for the singer helps facilitate worship directly to the Lord God in affirming Him instead of expressing any doubt. Just my thoughts every time I hear or sing the song I change it myself.

The New Folk - I Wish We'd All Been Ready [USQ, Psyche,Folk](1970): An unexpected turn from what is generally a very typical, happy-clappy Xian record. The band's psyche/folk rock take on the legendary, apocalyptic Larry Norman song, turns it into a wonderfully mournful, heavy, spiritual mantra.

Searching for Two Bands from the Early 2000s

Hi, trying to find two different bands that I can't remember the name of.

  1. Pretty sure the band starts with the letter W. I think the album is green? I thought it was the name Weyandt for some reason, but it's not. Pretty sure it's rock/hard rock/metal of some kind, but I don't think it was on Tooth and Nail or Solid State, though I could be wrong?

  2. This one I remember even less about. I'm pretty sure the album was white. Pretty sure it had kind of harvest imagery on the album. I'm pretty confident they were at Creation Fest in the early 2000s at least once.

I know this is incredibly little stuff to go on. Does this sound like any bands you guys know of? Thanks!

Nostalgia recently

Been on a weird nostalgic kick lately. Been listening to a good bit of 90s worship and 50s southern gospel. What is your favorite period of CCM?

Looking for Sydney Rentz from Morella's Forest (Dayton, OH)

Did anyone listen to Morella's Forest, signed on Tooth and Nail in the 1990s? Their music is having a bit of a revival moment, but surprisingly to me, their original singer Sydney Rentz seems to have disappeared. I know not everyone would look on those days fondly, but I was curious if anyone had any leads of where she went to.

Christian music themes you’ve never heard before but would like to see

(First of all, I’m using a translator, so I apologize for any mistakes.)

I’m a songwriter, and I enjoy writing songs about Christian life, faith, and the challenges of everyday life. My songwriting style ranges from direct and straightforward messages to more indirect and reflective lyrics. Kind of like Jesus Culture mixed with Demon Hunter lol.

Anyway, as a source of inspiration, I wanted to ask:

Is there any theme or topic in Christian music that you rarely see, but wish more singers or bands would write songs about?

Is it just me or can anyone else not stand chistrian music?

switchfoot, twenty one pilots, U2? Those are all amazing bands. but the main difference is that they’re all mostly just “bands with Christian members,” rather than actual worship music or anything.

I cant stomach any modern Christian music (yes I know the normal responses, “you haven’t found the good stuff ye”)t”) but i genuinely cannot enjoy any of it.

anyone else?

'THE LAST TIME' by Samuel Colunga

I suppose this comes somewhere close to the thesis of my most recent album. It's the longest thing I've ever put together and probably the closest to my heart. I put everything I had into this one. But this one means the most to me, because I don't want to take anything for granted. Everything is fleeting. One day it will be the last time. Would love to hear your response to this song or anything else on the album. Very grateful.

What defines Music as Christian Music?

What in your opinion defines music as Christian Music? What makes it Christian music at its core ?

is it the lyrics , is it the emotions behind it , is it Christian band members/artists, is it to do with the purpose and intended audience of the music ?

I would follow this with what’s the purpose of Christian?

I have an opinion on this but would like to gain other Christians thought?

For me I think it boils down to Praising God and as such the lyrics are fundamental - is it Praising God , recognising Gods character or what he has done. Fundamentally should be God centric not self centric.

However I know there are probably differing views on this and would like to gauge how others would ‘Classify’ music as Christian.
